Blaze Bayley - The Edge Of Darkness from The Night That Will Not Die album 2009... original version from The X Factor album blazebayley.net/ - Tourdates
One of the most powerful live performances I’ve ever seen, of any song and by any singer. It sounds much heavier than the Iron Maiden version (which I also love). Steve Harris should have started a second band with Blaze alongside Iron Maiden, and made more epic dark songs like this. It’s easy to see why Harris chose him. He has a very operatic voice like Dickinson, but in the baritone range instead of tenor.
@@irene.777 nadie discute la trayectoria de blaze es bastante destacable sin el apoyo de un gran sello, mas bien independiente, the x factor le tengo cariño, fue mi puerta de entrada a maiden.
I think the time in Maiden wasn't good for his reputation. That's a shame because Blaze did an awesome job in Maiden. And this performance..... wtf.. powerful and amazing. I think there are not many in heavy metal with such a powerful sound like Blaze.
His voice sounds darker than Bruce's on it because he is barritone, sounds great and dark on lower notes, mid range when Bruce has more incredible high notes, lighter but more powerfull, because he is operatic tenor. The vocal range means a lot.
I´m lost for words...guys LISTEN TO THE VOICE....This is the pure definition of metal and its power to reign, downright incredible !! I simply love and admire this guy to the stars and back....he sounds like a gorgeous mix of heaven and hell, downright EPIC !!
WOW, The power of the voice....He´s an impressing singer, very dark, intense and captivating voice...this is the real deal, the heavy metal in all its glory.....I would love to see this performance with the Maiden and Blaze as the singer....
The power, strength and emotions in his voice makes me shiver all over....one of the most loved songs on the incredible masterpiece album the X-Factor he made with Maiden, THE most important album of their entire career, thank you Blaze for saving them, aswell as given us a proof of what a remarkable singer and amazing guy you really are....to me you´ll always be the ACE of metal singers, the ONE guy you never will be able to forget.....
I'm with you. Even though his recent album trilogy is great too. But he he has a bit less force /power now unfortunately. Here he was definitely at his best. A pity si many die forget about him in those years. I'm glad he didn't give up and is still creating great music.
ABSOLUTELY FU***ING MAGNIFICENT !!!! The power of his voice crawls into your bum, up your spine and spark your brain to space...THIS is a true metal voice !!!
Saw wolfsbane as a boy (23 years old),1989 i think it was.Newcastle Riverside, never have i seen a band with such personality and presence as they did,and still have a great memory of Blaze and the boys !!
This is by far the best song from the Blaze era of Iron Maiden. There's plenty of good songs out of that era (Clansman, Futureal, The Educated Fool, The Aftermath, Look for the Truth, Como Estais Amigos, Sign of the Cross, etc) but this is by far the best.
Everytime I listen just amazing. To this or any of his records. Ive met alot of bands but i fear i will never get to shake this mans hand. I saw him on tour here in Memphis TN when he was with Maiden. Small club crammed to death and way over fire limits. Mayve 1500 people. Amazing.
The voice of a DEMON or an ANGEL ....either way the phenomenal voice leaves me shivering....Blaze´s got a voice that INSTANTLY grabs your heart and attention and just NEVER let it go......An Incredible performance !
What an amazing show. Blaze doesn't really sing with this power anymore, he's gone very nasal and stuff. This may have been his last great filmed show. He's still awesome, but this performance really is incredible.
Blaze is an excellent and amazing vocalist and artist, enough said, X factor is one of the best and darkest albums ever made, the mood and the atmosphere it creates was relevant to many people who were going through a bad phase, he cant be compared to Bruce because he was brought to replace a god and sing his songs which clearly wernt his style that s why he was bad with maiden covers, Blaze on his own or in X factor & V11 (although i dnt like it) is Excellent! his style is intense & he s a pro
I´m shivering....the POWER of the voice !!! I must confess I admire Blaze to bits, he took a lot of crappy comments about his time in Maiden, but WOW he came out of it with more power in his voice than ever before, and THIS is the REAL DEAL, AS GOOD AS IT GETS !!!
I´m lost for words...I love the song, but the power of his voice makes your skin crawl and hits you like a hammer...I´ve only one thing to say : OUTSTANDING BLAZE !!!!
When the whole band kicks in heavy...fucking hell. He's a goddamn animal! Imagine if he'd sung it like this on X Factor. Guy sounded great in Wolfsbane, has sounded great solo for years...why the hell was he so subdued on the Maiden records? That era feels like such a missed opportunity sometimes.
aldersmoke1 cause Blaze isnt singer for Maiden or Maiden band for Blaze, dont get me wrong i love both, and the Maiden albums in Blaze era have alot of great songs but his sing style and voice dont fit maiden or vice versa. Blaze has a lower voice good for heavy and gloomy stuff but for fast paced songs i dont like him so much.
aldersmoke1 The problem was that Maiden concerts ever not dropped a shade of the songs for the voice of Blaze and then he was more focused on trying to hit the notes. For this time it was awkward on stage which had never been in his Wolfsbane and in his solo career.
+aldersmoke1 Well, I think the bands instruments are tuned in D, while Maiden always plays in E. That's one step down in his solo band and of course a baritone voice like Blaze's will sound stronger in D.
I've looked into the heart of darkness Where the blood red journey ends When you've faced the heart of darkness Even your soul begins to bend For a week I have been waiting Still I am only in Saigon The walls move in a little closer I feel the jungle call me on Every minute I get weaker While in the jungle they grow strong What I wanted was a mission And for my sins they gave me one They brought it up just like room service 'Cause everyone gets what they want And when that mission was all over I'd never want another one Oh oh oh, oh oh oh I know Captain that you've done this work before We've got a problem you can help us I am sure The Colonel's gone rogue And his methods are unsound You'll take a PBR up river, track him down There's a conflict in every human heart And the temptation is to take it all too far In this war things get so confused But there are some things which cannot be excused He's acting like a God, an insane lunatic Your mission, exterminate with extreme prejudice Your route is dangerous and your progress may be slow Here is the file and it's all you need to know Oh oh oh, oh oh oh Here I am the knife in my hand And now I understand why the genius must die Now I stand alone in darkness With his blood upon my hands Where sat the warrior, the poet Now lie the fragments of a man I've looked into the heart of darkness Where the blood red journey ends When you've faced the heart of darkness Even your soul begins to bend I've looked into the heart of darkness
Soooooo much more powerful than the studio version they should have tuned down and upped the tempo a bit more it just sounds flat and plodding in the X Factor
@@Neo-Midgar really ? I’ve tried playing along to a few maiden tracks from this set and they all seemed to be E flat or D standard rather than E standard like Maiden 🤷♂️
1 of the best songs i've ever listed to! It's a masterpice like Smile Back At Death, While you were gone and Letting go of the world (and many others)!
orgasmic performance . x factor if not the best for sure is the most mature album they ever made. the only maiden album i still listen from start to finish unskippable at my late 30s
Great song, great execution of it aswell, but it is in this case when I miss the energy of Janick Gers... come on this is a song to jump and live it with energy !! but these guys are just there numb and motionless, feel it and show the fucking energy!!!!!
I agree about dimmu, they do seem to rely a lot on high tempo and blast beats. I do think borknagar can be pretty heavy sometimes, and Slayer was pretty brutal in their early days.
I agree for the most part, though I think Dimmu has some songs that are heavy, though I wouldn't include any of their new material or anything from the first 2 albums. SYL is pretty much relentless and unforgiving the first few times hearing them. I suppose it's hard for me to get into Blaze's work after hearing him in the two Iron Maiden albums where he was a bit out of place. I probably would have enjoyed those albums a little more if it was a separate project from Iron Maiden.
The "X Factor" is a fantastic album! It's in my top 10. People really need to re-evaluate this album with an open mind.
Оh, man! And I mean too!
It is great ! In my top 5 Iron Maiden albums !
El factor x para mi esta entre los 3 primeros
YES
There is something punk in X Factor, one of their best for sure.
Maiden really should invite Blaze to a show or something to sing a few old songs along with Bruce.
That's my dream as well. It will never come true though
One of the most powerful live performances I’ve ever seen, of any song and by any singer. It sounds much heavier than the Iron Maiden version (which I also love).
Blaze is singler by one of yourself. Iron Maiden don't need for him. If like started plain, also
I think they tuned down for this show, that’s why it sounds darker and heavier
I think the time in Maiden wasn't good for his reputation. That's a shame because Blaze did an awesome job in Maiden. And this performance..... wtf.. powerful and amazing.
I think there are not many in heavy metal with such a powerful sound like Blaze.
Blaze's voice has been so much better ever since he left maiden. His voice is amazing in this performance
Agreed! 👍👍
love all x factor songs
One of his best vocal tracks.
WOW, The power of the voice....He´s an impressing singer, very dark, intense and captivating voice...this is the real deal, the heavy metal in all its glory.....I would love to see this performance with the Maiden and Blaze as the singer....
This performance is fucking brilliant, really strong, love blazes work!
Music Music so do I that´s for sure....I´m totally hooked and impressed by this guy !!
The guitar riff is amazing 🤘🤘🤘
THIS is PURE METAL.....the TALENT, the GIFT and the VOICE IS A GODSENT to all of us, ABSOLUTELY F***ING MAGNIFICENT !!!!
Powerful dark voice from an amazing artist
Great performance of a great singer. Yes, Blaze is part of Maiden History!
You've a way with words. Agreed!
Rock. In roll.
Blaze rules! Respect!!
🤘👍
THIS is power, fire, passion....His voice makes your skin crawl and hits you like a hammer....OUTSTANDING BLAZE !!!
Blaze sang so heavy with this band his power was amazing this and blaze band was his best
NOW THIS is is what the Blaze era of Iron Maiden should have been!!! But for some odd reason they never tuned down for him
You’re correct in regards to Bruce songs but I’m 99% sure this is the original key (Em) that maiden also used on the record
Saw wolfsbane as a boy (23 years old),1989 i think it was.Newcastle Riverside, never have i seen a band with such personality and presence as they did,and still have a great memory of Blaze and the boys !!
saw in barnsley 87
Blaze still really awesome!! Actually he's better than the Maiden days! Great version!!
I wish they would re-record X Factor and Virtual 11 as his voice is so good nowadays
I always liked wha Blaze brought to the table, great vocals and stage presents, all these songs are sang by him the best!

Increíble Blaze!!! Vaya potencia, vaya profundidad en la interpretación!!! Grande Blaze
The voice of a DEMON or an ANGEL ....either way the phenomenal voice leaves me shivering....Blaze´s got a voice that INSTANTLY grabs your heart and attention and just NEVER let it go......An Incredible performance !
Amazing performance from Blaze here. You can't ask for much more than this.
What an amazing show. Blaze doesn't really sing with this power anymore, he's gone very nasal and stuff. This may have been his last great filmed show.
He's still awesome, but this performance really is incredible.
Time runs so fast. That's so sad.
I love it, just three words no more
Maiden Masterpiece
If Blaze ever did a concert within my reach, I wouldn´t go to be first in line...I WOULD BE RUNNING !!!

Muy bien Sr. Bayley, gran concierto, suena demasiado potente, oscuro, metálico y excelente banda
And a great drummer
Fucking awsome version!
So much powerful! So much energy! What a spectacular perform! Much respect!
Blaze i love you
1 OF MY TOP 20 MAIDEN SONGS!!!
Ian Cleere to me it´s one of my top 5 Maiden songs.......the power and the terrific lyrics just takes my breath away.......
Holy shit this rules
blaze cantando a suas canções fica top muito bom
i love the voice of Blaze Bayley he is a great musician.
Voice of Blaze is amazing!
Caralho...Epico! MUITO MUITO Foda...Obrigado por existir Blaze Bayley.
I´m lost for words...I love the song, but the power of his voice makes your skin crawl and hits you like a hammer...I´ve only one thing to say : OUTSTANDING BLAZE !!!!
If he had only sang like this when he was in maiden he would not have
been fired 😞👏🏽👏🏽
Yes but Blaze got better with Age this was his prime
The ACE of metal singers.....I love this song with all my heart, mind and soul and NOBODY sings it like Blaze, NOBODY....
GREAT BLAZE!!!!! Dark and powerful voice!!!!!
I would definitely go see Blaze in concert if he ever came close to where I live. His band is great and I have always loved his voice.
John Katsoudas so would I....I love this dark, powerful and intense voice !!
Amazing power un the voice and guitar riff 🤟👌🏼🤗😉😁
This is incredible! Blaze!

+Patrik.L Agreed about the tuning. If you recall Blaze always had problems singing Bruce's songs while in Maiden
I've looked into the heart of darkness
Where the blood red journey ends
When you've faced the heart of darkness
Even your soul begins to bend
For a week I have been waiting
Still I am only in Saigon
The walls move in a little closer
I feel the jungle call me on
Every minute I get weaker
While in the jungle they grow strong
What I wanted was a mission
And for my sins they gave me one
They brought it up just like room service
'Cause everyone gets what they want
And when that mission was all over
I'd never want another one
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh
I know Captain that you've done this work before
We've got a problem you can help us I am sure
The Colonel's gone rogue
And his methods are unsound
You'll take a PBR up river, track him down
There's a conflict in every human heart
And the temptation is to take it all too far
In this war things get so confused
But there are some things which cannot be excused
He's acting like a God, an insane lunatic
Your mission, exterminate with extreme prejudice
Your route is dangerous and your progress may be slow
Here is the file and it's all you need to know
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh
Here I am the knife in my hand
And now I understand why the genius must die
Now I stand alone in darkness
With his blood upon my hands
Where sat the warrior, the poet
Now lie the fragments of a man
I've looked into the heart of darkness
Where the blood red journey ends
When you've faced the heart of darkness
Even your soul begins to bend
I've looked into the heart of darkness
WHAT A CHANGE ON THE GUITARS HOLY SHIT, AND BLAZE'S VOICE ON TOP WOW, people should listen to x factor again with an open mind
voice is on!

im fan of Blaze that vebrato IS music for mi soul
ha, the Z7, I used to live in there in the 90s
It's their best 90's album, above Fear of the Dark.

Alek Skot so do I, that´s for sure !!!
well i love you too !!! Its a nice word to say
Umbelivable
un grande Blaze !
Great album, great performance, He's part of maiden, Like it or not.
Please come to México 🤘🇲🇽
Idgaf what anyone says, Blaze brought his raw candor to iron maiden, as hard & as metal as both Bruce and our Brother from Killers., Album
0.50' --- 1.35' This is one of the most brilliant piece of acoustic guitar ever
That is the definition of heavy. I looked it up.
Blaze rules mtf!
Blaze supera a bruce por algunos momentos puede decir que en este concuerto blaze saca una voz de otro mundo me gusto mucho blaze x siempre
Sei un grande blaze
adoro essa musica
EPIC
This man should be the iron maiden vocalist
*Epic Blaze*
I absolutely love Blaze in Maiden. But GAWD this is fucking EPIC!!!

Vietnam too the max! Let's go smoke a doob to CCR!
Verdade!! Concordo contigo mano! FOI BOM QUE O BRUCE SAIU DO MAIDEN NESSA EPOCA VIIU.. CADA MUSICA LOUCA
Não foi por acaso que escolheram o Blaze
apocalypse now
Blaze sofreu de uma pressão injusta no Iron. Merecia ser mais valorizado.
Good sh!t bruh!
The song is tuned down to match his voice. In the studio in normal tuning there was not much else he could do.
evan gk This performance and the studio version are in G (E minor): He has the same vocal range that in ´95!
Metal Gear Solid should have this song!
Speed Heavy and Alive Version Blaze
my favorite song is iron maiden
So fucking heavy!
