I’m currently trying to repair my rear center seatbelt in my scion ia but have yet to see any videos on how to do so. This is the closest video I could find to get a look at seats that are similar so my question is, is it required to take the seats out to repair a seatbelt from the back seat so or can I do the repair without taking out my seats?
Sorry, I couldn't answer this accurately since I haven't tried removing a seatbelt. The seatbelt is held under a piece of panel. I would advise you to check underneath the seatbelt to check for bolts and other fasteners. I don't think you have to remove the seat since it can be folded. You just have to remove the black plastic panel to get access to the seatbelt mechanism. Hope this helps. Thanks!

Thank you! Once you remove the rear seat, you'll definitely see the middle rear seatbelt bolted on to the chassis.

How do you 'rehook' the bottom seat cushion when reinstalling? Having major difficulties.
I also have difficulties when reinstalling it too. What I do is I fold the rear seat to see the hinge where the hook connects. Then, I have someone pushing the seat cushion while I guide the hook to into the hinge. Try folding the rear seat and take some carpet off the way, you'll see it there.
What if you locked the keys in the trunk? I can’t fold the seat down…
Would you know where can we buy a replacement for the seat lock/retainer? I think i broke mine when i pulled the black lever.

Probably, could be hard to find I guess. Try searching on Ebay, Amazon and other online shopping site for a replacement. Also, a good idea to search at your nearest automotive store or junkyard dealer where cars are being scrapped. Mazda dealership could be your last resort.

Yes you can. But you might need to put some cushion or insulations on the flooring, so that the things that you will put inside won't rattle or damage the surface of the chassis.
May mazda 2 doesn't have lock on the seat any other option?

If you are referring to the lock under the seat cushion, then you can gently pull it up to remove it.
Is removal the same for a 2006 mazda3 hatchback?
Sorry I haven't done that on 2006 Mazda 3 so I wasn't sure about it. But on most vehicles, generally the concept of removal is the same.

Sorry, I'm not sure about that vehicle since I have never encountered it yet. I'm pretty sure that they are similar with other cars. Just try to reach a plastic lever with your hands underneath the cushion. Just like what I did in the video. I pulled a small lever which releases the lock of the hinge.

Perhaps some of the retainers of the seat are different. Keep on trying, you'll get it out too.

Sorry, I'm not really sure about it. But most modern cars are similar so this could still help in some ways. Just check underneath and every corner of the seat. You'll get it overtime.

May I ask what car do you have?
Maybe the plastic piece is inverted, try to check all sides if there is a lever. If it is an old car, then most of them don't have a lever. They are done just by pulling the seat cushion.
