  • This WW2 pilot training film is highly recommended, combining Hollywood drama with great attention to detail - it's one of my favorites! You'll see the B-26, inside & out as well as all aspects of flying her. I did a new restoration in HD.
Although rookie pilots found her tricky to handle during take-off and landing because of her abrupt stall, the Martin B-26 medium bomber was liked and respected by more experienced air crew. Appropriately called "the Marauder," the high speed, load capacity, and durability of the B-26 made it it well suited for low & medium level missions over Europe and the Pacific. The Marauder saw lots of action both in the USAF and RAF, and it's important roll is often overlooked.
That's actor Craig Stevens ("Peter Gunn") playing the rookie pilot & veteran film & TV character actor Don Porter as his instructor. Very convincing portrayals!

9:14 I am glad to see this accurate explanation of a 'runaway prop'. I've met several pilots who didn't understand the true nature of the condition therefore unsure of how to deal with it. In one instance, even panicking. A real head scratcher.

The guys on the ground looked really disappointed they didn't crash!

Being a Fireman on a modern Military Base is incredibly boring. All they do all day is have Coffee and Cake and take any chance they can get to Fix something wherever possible.

Also love the Pre-Flight Check for "Excessive Leakage" assuming there is just "Regular Leakage".

The preflight is conducted on two different aircraft. The first plane has a very worn left main tire. During the flight control check it is very clear the left main tire is near new.

I believe the captain is played by actor William Schallert. He played the dad in the Patty Duke Show.

The Captain is played by Don Porter, who was in a million TV shows, including “The Ann Southern Show& “Private Secretary.” Look him up on IMDB. An amazing career spanning decades.

@@ZenosWarbirds Thanks for the correction. I knew he looked very familiar. The dad on Patty Duke Show was what came to mind first. I looked that up on IMDB and thought I had found him.

I kind young for age (30's) and like classic TV, Peter Gunn my favor. When doing training film he must thinking about the pilots going fly into combat.

What is the typist typing in the control tower in the scenes where the air traffic controller is talking on the radio?
