- A review of the pathology of asthma and COPD, including the role of the immune system, along with the mechanisms behind the hypercapnia and hypoxemia of COPD, and the blue bloater vs. pink puffer pseudodichotomy.
Your videos are fantastic: well made, thorough and accurate while trying to keep it all short. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome - as always! The wonderful music just adds to your clear, concise and comprehensive explanations to create a top class Med Ed experience. Thank you!
I wish u had lectures in all the internal because In my opinion, your summaries are the best ones I've seen so far.
This has been very helpful to my MSc presentation on asthma - thanks!
Thank you very Dr Strong.
Thank you so much. I am currently in Med school and it took me 3 days looking for videos on the pathogenesis of Asthma. There are so many different explanations out there and yours was the best. You simplified it and included everything we need to know. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this concise and helpful video a great starting point for my paper on klinefelter's syndrome, testosterone and asthma
thanking you again from a first year med sci student
Fantastic! can't thank you enough!
This is flat out a wonderful video (coming from a first-year medical student)
Just wonderful
you sir are a real hero , thousands of MDs graduating but almost none making high quality lectures for free. i hope you as well as dustyn williams from OnlineMedEd continue to make new content. Do you have any plans for writing a text ?
richard mohammed Thanks so much for your message. I've been working on and off over a year on an ABG book, but to finish it would take a lot of time away from more videos - tough choices! Also hope to create an introductory through intermediate ECG book as well - but same problem. Agree that Dustyn Williams has some great content on here, though much of it is difficult to find (I think it's only visible on his own site, and not searchable directly on CZcams).
@@StrongMed You are miles above Dusty !
Thank you so much
Great resource
Thank you.
Science is about understanding models and systems.
HELLO,
First of all, thanks so much for sharing this video!
I trully aprecciate it...
about COPD Pathophysiology, why does pulmonary hypertension leads to right heart failure? shouldn't it be left?
THANK YOU SO MUCH! :D
Sir , while both the diseases are causing airway obstruction only n hence the symptoms why not air trapping , hypoxemia n hypercapnia in asthma
Thank you so much this helps a lot. If it's not too much is there a Trans for this?
Question regading slide with copd pathophysiology. Im confused with fibroblast proliferation and small airway fibrosis. Isnt it rather opposit of fibrosis? Elastin destruction leading to increased lung compliance and emphysema?

I'm a premed going to shadow a pulmonologist tomorrow. Thanks for this great summary.
Hello thanks for the video, it is very informative. Do you know what is the source of cartoon diagram at 5:00? Thank You.
The pollen is a colorized version of an image made from an electron micrograph from the Dartmouth Electron Microscope Facility (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Misc_pollen.jpg). The dendritic cell is from the NIH (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dendritic_cell#/media/File:Dendritic_cell_revealed.jpg). Both images are in the public domain. The remainder of the diagram is original.
thank you.
Can you give me this video at word or PDF please.

why emphysematous patients are not cyanotic despite being hypoxic??
DO YOU HAV PATREON ?
I do! Unfortunately, I haven't had the bandwidth to keep up with it during COVID - so rewards like blog posts and video transcripts have all been delayed, unless someone messages me asking for something specific: www.patreon.com/strongmedicine
Hi, is the diagram shown at 5:00 an original diagram? If not, what is its source?
The pollen is a false color image made from an electron micrograph from the Dartmouth Electron Microscope Facility (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Misc_pollen.jpg). The dendritic cell is from the NIH (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dendritic_cell#/media/File:Dendritic_cell_revealed.jpg). Both images are in the public domain. The remainder of the diagram is original.
Thank you very much!

Thank you Dr Eric using your videos for usmle step 3 can you please do lecture on ARDS , HIV
thanks
Asha Krishna I definitely plan on covering ARDS and HIV at some point. Unfortunately, I have a very long list of requested topics, and am unable to offer an estimate of when I might get to them.
