I agree that your vlogs are becoming more relatable to me at least. Enriching another human beings life is a very fulfilling and rewarding new life experience. I've given all my life to the betterment of others, including family only to be betrayed or just taken for granted. This last trip around the mountain, as selfish as it may appear or is - I'm going to give to myself more ( share also ) and realize some of my own dreams. I've retired to the Philippines and initially tried to set my wife's family up for stability only to realize that they not only felt entitled but are trying to steal from me. A lot/house, car, all the things that I provided that they'd never acquire in their lives have been taken for granted and now they're trying to steal and ruin me. I'm currently back k in the states tying up loose ends but when I return, it and them are coming to a end. They will be back on their own and I won't have any regrets. I will achieve paradise and peace.

I listen to this video while driving my tractor for UPS across Arizona going to Los Angeles from Philadelphia. The moons out and I know how lucky I am to have a good job but the Philippines is definitely appealing when I retire in 2025 at 55. Working nights has been difficult but it can be peaceful because 90% of the population is asleep and not on the road
Drive safe and look me up when you retire.

Purchasing a better car can be good therapy. My wife of 32 years was dying from a terrible disease named Frontal Temporal lobe dementia. It was a very low and depressing time in my life. One day, I decided to buy a used Mercedes S430, and the car was such a pleasure to drive it helped me through my wife's passing more than eight years ago. It amazes me to this day how something so insignificant in life can alter your mood.
I really liked this video! This describes me and my plan so closely. I'm so happy this decent man thinks about his woman and her future. This is the way all men should be with their woman especially if they have a good woman. This restored my faith in my fellow men!

Worked at a different airline so can understand all he says…my airline was international so I visited relatives in Sweden and friends in other countries..always a thrill coming to the gate and seeing a 747 waiting for you..and then getting 1st or business with lay flat seats made those 15 hour flights an actual pleasure..been going to Tland since 2008 but would love to do some time in Dumaguete…so…who knows ? Coffee’s (or dinner, or ) on me if I make it..good vid 🙏🏻✈️🇹🇭🇵🇭

One major difference in the Philippines, is that people generally believe in God. In the west, more and more we don’t really believe in God. We only talk about God if we were in trouble. Filipinos are very religious and very grounded.

Interesting interview Mark. This is not your typical American visiting the Philipines. He doesn't hate his life, the woman, or isn't struggling financially; but, he seems to be suggesting that something is missing( zest for life?) but his life is comfortable enough so that he is unsure about when or if he should make the move. Thanks Mark.
I've realized that I can't quite relax yet and still must keep my head on swivel. Greed and jealousy spans the entire world and unscrupulous people- even in a country where they have nothing will cheat and take advantage of your good will. Thru all the expats vlogs and my personal experiences, I've learned valuable lessons on how to adapt to the Philippine culture.

This was one of the best - this uncomplicated guy has a heart of gold. He needs to stop - drop - and roll and retire and get the ten years needed so she can get the SSI. True - he dies - she gets it now - the wife doesn't have to till she's 62.

Awesome interview, Need a 2nd take at least. Top 5 best interviewees Mark has had. Mark came off as actually befriending this guy. Get ahold of this "Bob" guy he mentions- sounds like a treasure trove of stories and situations.
Best seats on a plane are in the rear. Always by the isle, so you can get up and walk frequently to prevent blood clots in the legs. Stinks a little back there but crash survivers are seated in the back. My first flight was on a Pan American "Pan Am" flight to Chicago.
Seems like a nice guy who will have a positive impact in the Phils.
I remember back in the day when my sister's boyfriend would call and Dad would pick up the phone and yell, "She's not home!" These kids today have no idea what it was like back then.
@@tyroneshoelaces9742 because the dad wasn't ready to see his little girl growing up, dating. He wants to scare/discourage them by pretending (sometimes they're not tho) to sound scary.
Those days, a guy had to ask permission to date a girl; they don't meet on the street or in malls or party. I remember guys need to pick her up from her house while her parents were watching by the window or at the door and then tell you to bring her back safe at a certain time 😊

I am 30, single , no children planning to work super hard, live frugal ( which I already do and have 25k saved, save extra 2k a month and hopefully retire by 45. That’s all I have in front of me right now. Looking forward to moving to a nice tropical country.

I just watched a video on Boracay island, Philippines. That place looks as beautiful as Thailand and if you go off the main beach you can get hotels for $15/night and meals for $2! That's the same price as Pattaya. I think people are going to be moving there, because of the easier visa than Thailand's visa requirements.

Similar situation on retirement. Need another bull market to feel comfortable cashing out a big chunk to retire with better financial security. It’s mental how much we depend on the vicissitudes of the markets.
No one is paying $60 a month for mall workers. The minimum wage is P450/day which is around P10,800 ($195) a month. A single Filipino with no vices and supports only himself/herself can have a quite good life with this amount.
It was many years ago that she was earning $60 a month

K 1 visa! Have her sign a prenuptial agreement you're going to help her anyway...... you will be a better man you're now because you get it and understand.... keep living and loving and spreading kindness brother.
Prenups don't hold up , especially with foreign ladies who can claim they were coerced or didn't understand it

You cant even teach your daughters about morality. So many women have been ran through by a lot of men. High body count before they get married. Why? Coz you are weak to discipline your kids. Some men in the US are weak because they create difficult times. Mass shootings, road rage, corruption etc.

This is a good man. He realizes how blessed we are if we have a good job. I would say not to regret whatever alternate paths we might have taken. We made our best decisions we could have at the time based on the factors present then. No use regretting anything... perhaps if we had taken that alternative, we might not be here today. In stoicism it's called amor fati.

That mall work thing which was mentioned. I came to realize that some people just want to be working at the mall. When I was searching to hire sales people, i turned to mall employees (they get paid $3 per day and no benefits) and offered them $12 for ofc work plus benefits. But they declined. Some people just enjoy working at malls and I came to respect them for that.

Good interview. From my research, the spouse survivor benefit for social security only kicks in when the spouse hits retirement age. The benefit, is that the spouse can use the deceased spouse's SS amount for calculations instead of their own. Currently, that means they can collect a check at 62, 67 or 70-something for the 3rd tier. The base calculation for people is taken from their highest 30 years of employment.
When can a widow collect her husband's Social Security?
age 60
The earliest a widow or widower can start receiving Social Security survivors benefits based on age will remain at age 60. Widows or widowers benefits based on age can start any time between age 60 and full retirement age as a survivor.
He should give up on his idea to bring her to the United States. They would enjoy their lives a lot more in PH.

Not all Filipina. I should not generalized everything. Some do some don’t. You just have to be very careful who you married to. Don’t rush picking your future wife. You need to observe her if she’s the one for better or worse. I had met a lot of failed marriages here in the U.S. with different stories. One with abusive relationship, in-laws did not approve, cannot get a long, ended wife dead, and some will take you just for green card for a better future. I know someone, actually was my neighbor did not loved her husband. Only married him so that she can come to the U.S. Too bad her ex husband was nice with good job. Treated her like a queen. But when a loveless marriage is not going to work. She got a job and left him for a younger men. I was embarrassed for her because she’s my kind and did that to a men did everything for her? All I said to my neighbor “I’m so sorry she did that to you”. I think he went to Thailand. My advice to everyone is to be very careful choosing your future wife. Don’t be a kid in a candy store. Be wise. Good luck!

If he doesn't want to get married, if is health is half way decent an option may be to purchase a term life insurance policy making her the beneficiary. For a $250,000.00 policy, it will be in the range of 300 bucks a month taking it out to 90. A little more if he wants to go to 95. Just something to consider.

Filipinos are not into material things but they sacrifice for their families to provide a better life in the future. Responsibilities are big in the Philippines.

Either move or forget the Philippines waiting for stock to recover is bad move. Housing going down you will lose more. If you can do it do it now. Moving to USA takes awhile if k-1 visa can apply citizenship in 3 years. Wife will wanna go back to Philippines after no doubt
