- Willie Hugh Nelson (pronounced /wɪli nɛlsən /; born April 30, 1933) is an American country music singer-songwriter, as well as an author, poet, actor, and activist. The critical success of the album Shotgun Willie (1973), combined with the critical and commercial success of Red Headed Stranger (1975) and Stardust (1978), made Nelson one of the most recognized artists in country music. This is the best version of this fantastic song. I believe that even if Willie Nelson sang it again, he wouldn't be able to replicate this performance.
Agreed.
Dedicated to my hubby who passed away after 56 yrs of marriage. ♥

Hello Shannon how are you doing!!
To play internationally; I imagine he must of been more stoned than usual & that may of lend to such a spectacular solo performance.
Bellissima performance!ti amo Willie!🥰😍😘🎶🎸🎶💘❤️💕💋💯
Amazing performance - Willie 'owns' this song! - with apologies to the King - wow it is treasure when either of them sings it!
I love Elvis, but Willie owns this one! Such emotion! Quite the intimate love song when Willie sings it.
Beautiful
Hello Leisa how are you doing!!
With this song Elvis had the connection with Priscilla which will always remind us of a love lost, but Willie strips it down to raw basics, a sawdust bar in West Texas, a man and his feelings laid bare against the royal blue starry southern

in the wings of time...
I never knew Willie wrote this for Elvis, makes sense at it has always been a perfect song for him to sing to Priscilla. Willie has a raw, different version, but I still think Elvis sang it with more heart and soul. But that could also be because it meant so much to him.
The song was actually written by Wayne Carson in 1970 and was rejected by his label when they first heard it!
This is a great version. Thank you.
Thanks uploading.
