CDEbFGAbB Yeah, it's been so heavily post-produced that you'd have a hard time calling it a proper live album. But it's a brilliant album of alternative cuts.
Olli Booms At a Music Fair in my city where people from lots of countries came to sell album rarities I could buy another Arena album. I can hear the differences between the two Arenas.
I agree. Arcadia - my all-time fave album. ARENA is 20th. my band is looking for a producer of our 1st album. contact me at facebook: Dondon Mollaneda.
I literally can’t get over this performance of em,they ate and devoured it👏Simon,Rog,Andy,John,Nick, backing vocals, and backing dancers, they absolutely ate,I really can’t get over my loves, I love New Religion sm,and they never disappoint💘💘
There's an urgency to come back to this fantastic era.
OMG this was and still is my favorite DD song. The Bass line is just to hard to explain how F***ING Amazing it is. One of the many reasons John Taylor is my favorite band member and still to this day Duran Duran is one of my very most favorite bands in the whole world.I have been a fan a true Duranie sense 1980 love you guys xoxox! And can't wait till you guys start touring this year in LA 2011...
great song, the DD dark side, great bass line as usual and cryptic non-sense (but only apparently) lyrics. excerpt from "as the lights go down", greatest DD live performance ever. now i'm 38yrs old, still love them as 20 yrs (and counting) ago. thanks for posting.
I love New Religion bc it showcases each member's talents to the utmost. I always wanted to go to the Arena tour, but my mother wouldn't let me. I was too young. It's all good- I saw D2 in '05. It was the best show I've ever seen. These gents age like fine wine- so sweet!
I love this song it was and still is awesome took me forever to learn all the lyrics so I could sing it with him when ever I played it but I loved it I went to see them perform it at the time in 1984 it was for my 18th Bday and it was suberbly fantastico
Sure Duran Duran has a lot of haters, but there is no denying they put on a damn good show during their heyday. JT came up with some funky bass lines, he's second to Mark King from Level 42, and the shit worked.
I love how he drops the tambourines 1:15. Lmao every time I see vids of this song live he does something different with the tambourines. But this has to be the best one.
Each time I watch this video clip of Duran Duran, when I'm not feeling myself, I get palpitations, it makes me feel dizzy because of the threatening and invisible message of this song. '' I can't help myself it's a new religion '' seems to be a worrisome declaration scaring me. It emerges that, behind the magical and dark atmosphere, there is an audacious invitation to join the '' New Religion '' which could refer to the cult of Satan (the last picture of Simon's back is a striking clue among all others resemblances during the show). The imagery sheds light on the struggle between the submission for some occult powers and the desire to relentlessly preserve a piece of our soul intact. Something seems to have erupted in Simon's eyes, almost under possession. It looks like a capital punishment at least and once more they came in their thousands to celebrate Lucifer without their knowing...
@ScrittiSparkle, this track will be included on the 3 disc version of the album Seven And The Ragged Tiger. Album is remastered, and the live special was called As The Lights Go Down.
que canción más bonita,me encanta,la escucho una y otra vez, esta versión es simplemente estupenda, y pensar que muchas personas viven escuchando la basura del regueton y otros horrores similares
@Gina97xls i reckon duran duran at theri creative peak was with Rio...and Duran Duran album was fucking a close second but both outstanding and timeless...without doubt, one of the greatest pop music bands in the last 30 years. I would add, duran duran are one of the brest live bands in the world presently - saw them 7 times.
@sharinedemarchenar69 I have to agree. And they've proven it a lot since then. There are other live versions of this song, even here on youtube, that don't have near as much stuff going on around them; and they STILL rock!
Very bad quality is over the top, But if you look at music video from Reflex where it was filmed that is crystal clear......This was released on VHS + Betamax + was clear picture obviously when it came out but this has been watched thousands of times so whoever uploaded this is their copy of it
I also have been following DD since 1980 and have been to many live shows...... They have come too far...They can't stop!!! they are another OAP band.... ...move over and give the younger generation a shot! !!
only my two cents...this band does not need all this stuff going on around them, especially this song, amazing song. Doesn't need all the dancers and stuff....just saying. They got talent...lots!!!
I believe that this is the best version of the song. In fact, all the Arena versions are the best ones.
CDEbFGAbB Yeah, it's been so heavily post-produced that you'd have a hard time calling it a proper live album. But it's a brilliant album of alternative cuts.

I always crank this tune up in my car when I'm out running errands; some of the looks I get are hilarious, lol.
One of my fav DD songs.
That entire Rio album was killer!
It would be rude not to Katrina
haha! i always do that when i'm bored... this song is my theme song
Like all things Duran Duran... KILLER BASSLINE. John Taylor is incredible.
I literally can’t get over this performance of em,they ate and devoured it👏Simon,Rog,Andy,John,Nick, backing vocals, and backing dancers, they absolutely ate,I really can’t get over my loves, I love New Religion sm,and they never disappoint💘💘
wow, this song is amazing, the bass, the rythm, vocals, all, the sound of this band always was great, Duran Duran rocks !!!
John Taylor is indisputably one of the greatest bass players of all time.
Magnifica... ! come tutte le loro vecchie canzoni...
Duraniana 72!
72 pure io 😁
Does anyone else blare this song in their car or is it just me? One of their best songs EVER!!
Terriblement saisissant ce live de New Religion.

So nice to remember this days. I still like this band very much!!!

I saw them in Austin April 21 2016 and they our coming to San Antonio August 2 I am going again, Duran Duran lives on and on and on even without Andy.
i'm 36 years old from Portugal and i think this is way to cool. Great. luv this band
*Simon's* existential opus! I love how at 1:47
*Simon's* walk to the mic is almost trancelike.
*Simon's* performance is stellar. ⭐🌒
This is taken from Duran Duran's concert in L.A. in 1984. This is the best choreography of a song I have ever seen....
In interviews, John is always very modest about his playing but in reality he has come up with really great, ingenious and far from simple bass lines.
Fantastic song, amazing group, wonderful dancers and choreography!

One of my all time faves....love blasting in my car....windows down....singing at the top of my lungs!! Duran rocks!!

I love New Religion bc it showcases each member's talents to the utmost. I always wanted to go to the Arena tour, but my mother wouldn't let me. I was too young. It's all good- I saw D2 in '05. It was the best show I've ever seen. These gents age like fine wine- so sweet!

This Bass line of John Taylor is very cool.
EXACTLY THE WAY I love to hear this one.
cubaz, I am 39yrs old now and I feel completely the same. Although I like d'n'b and stuff like that nowadays I will always love this tune...cheers
I love this song it was and still is awesome took me forever to learn all the lyrics so I could sing it with him when ever I played it but I loved it I went to see them perform it at the time in 1984 it was for my 18th Bday and it was suberbly fantastico

Best of the best!
Possibly my favorite live song of Duran Duran 's!!!
Sure Duran Duran has a lot of haters, but there is no denying they put on a damn good show during their heyday. JT came up with some funky bass lines, he's second to Mark King from Level 42, and the shit worked.
Simon's voice was deeper in the past.
Yes, I wonder how he did kind of voices.
I don't care about those damn dancers why in the hell they didn't have close ups of John playing that badass base line???
True. I really like this version, but they should've shown close ups of all of them.
bloody brill vid and awesome song duran rule
@lacykat05 i get over exicited when the double vocal kicks in.
I just love Simon’s dramatic performance !
miss them so much. all of the original 5. Dom is smokin' hot guitar player but there is something still missing from them as a whole.
nnnaaaa! !!! when andy was part of DD there was heart and soul....now its all about $$$$$$$
I love how he drops the tambourines 1:15. Lmao every time I see vids of this song live he does something different with the tambourines. But this has to be the best one.
Amazing song! Dios!!!!! Recién encontré este temazo!!!!!!!!
My favorite DD song forever!!!

that's what I think too... you're right
Interesting. Perception of things is sometimes curious. Duran Duran is full hidden aspects.
yes, that is what has kept them around for so long that my daughter now know words to their songs.
Duran Duran 😚😚😚😚😚👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
11 Juni in Den Haag, yeahhhhhh, mooi veldkaarten

que canción más bonita,me encanta,la escucho una y otra vez, esta versión es simplemente estupenda, y pensar que muchas personas viven escuchando la basura del regueton y otros horrores similares
Great!!!
It's simple; the song is from Rio and it's been performed live in the Arena tour '84, from which this video is taken from
John Taylor is a fucking beast of a bassist.
@Gina97xls i reckon duran duran at theri creative peak was with Rio...and Duran Duran album was fucking a close second but both outstanding and timeless...without doubt, one of the greatest pop music bands in the last 30 years. You know it's peace time....
Greeeeeeeaaaattttttttt...!!!!
Duran Duran at their best ever 🐈⬛nick nick looking 🤩🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
La più bella versione live di New Religion in assoluto rimane questa di "Arena" ...
ES PECTACULAR
@sharinedemarchenar69 I have to agree. And they've proven it a lot since then. There are other live versions of this song, even here on youtube, that don't have near as much stuff going on around them; and they STILL rock!
BASSO STREPITOSO!!!
Great song
God I loved the 80's lol
The Arena version is sped up, yes, but it sounds much better with the faster rhythm compared to the album version.
il basso e un orgasmooo
Very bad quality for a powerful and significant show
Shame that's all you see when you watch this.... Miserable
Very bad quality is over the top, But if you look at music video from Reflex where it was filmed that is crystal clear......This was released on VHS + Betamax + was clear picture obviously when it came out but this has been watched thousands of times so whoever uploaded this is their copy of it
Awesome video. I miss not having As The Lights Go Down. I used to have Sing Blue Silver VHS, but it got worn out. :(
I also have been following DD since 1980 and have been to many live shows...... They have come too far...They can't stop!!! they are another OAP band.... ...move over and give the younger generation a shot! !!
I like it better when Andy does backup vocals when Simon raps. The two girls are pretty cool though.
love Simon and john
Out on DVD, March/April 2010.
Shit! This is an awesome video!
The height of their career sexy simon you are amazing would have loved to have gone to this concert ,parents didn't let me .le bon girl 71 xx

only my two cents...this band does not need all this stuff going on around them, especially this song, amazing song. Doesn't need all the dancers and stuff....just saying. They got talent...lots!!!
Andy and John would have fitted in well in Def Leppard. JT and Sav were both pin up bass players too.
Love simons voice in the 80s 😅
leaders hot
Arena!
i had Duran Duran on my pencil case at school and i am a male,go figure.
They should be in the rnrhof
nice nice nice
Not LA. This was from Oakland.
