    Vitamin D needs to be vitamin D3. And the D3 needs to be olive oil based and must be taken with a little fat. I take mine right after I eat my yogurt. I was shocked at how low mine was when I got it tested before I started taking it in supplement form. Low Vitamin D levels are associated with breast cancer and other diseases. As an aside, Vitamin D is actually a hormone.
