  • I got tired of having to rummage through several sources for my personal reference material so I have started a grimoire. It is a work in progress and there are already some mistakes, but its only for me so it's okay.

    Great book. We live in a world of convenience and frankly, printing up pages is totally on par. If something ever spills on pages or if you loose your book, all is not lost. We have so much more than those of centuries past. Thank you for sharing.

    I have a 5 ruled note book that I write all my learnings and notes in. I then move that information into a large dotted journal which is not structured but very neat for reference. I then move that into my fancy Grimoire which is all personal inspiration and notes for my everyday practice.

    I'm still watching but I just had to comment that I'm so happy to hear someone say not all the Sabbats resonate!
    I wouldn't say they sent resonate for me but I definitely find there's probably at least 3 that I don't do very much for/with.

    Exquisite. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your video. I have held off for so many years putting my grimoire together and have all my information much like you did. What stopped me was ...what if I forgot some information and wanted to add it later? With the large grimoire I’d already purchased, it’s bound so I cannot add pages. If I section the book then still fall short I’ll end up with two volumes, and I don’t want that either. Not when I’m still working on one! 🤔 Hence, I never started because I just couldn’t find the right fit. But yours seems to solves all of that! I can collage all of my information, all of my spell work, and continue to add as necessary. I’ll also feel much more connected to it as I made it. And I have a feeling if I had’ve started one already, I’d want to begin again after seeing this video 😂

      She who walks between the Worlds ...You’re right...one thing I must let go of is the need for it to look perfect - I don’t want a “perfect” book...I want MY book to reflect ME. I’m certainly not perfect. So I need to let that need for each page to look exactly right. I’m quite sure once I begin it’s going to flow nicely now that I have a good base and vision. Now I’m truly excited.

      You can fold pages to create pop ups, so one page can spand to embrace your larger fonts. However, BOS can be no text, images only. You can also, on this day of age, go creative with collage, textures etc, record an audio entry, upload somewhere safe and glue an qrcode on the page. Let your BOS go wild and run with it

    Hello from New Zealand....... I have just found you 😁. I use the computer also for my book of shadows, I can write but with typing I’m quicker and if I make a mistake of course I can erase it. I use a natural ring binder which I will cover, stencil, decorate. The paper is from the stationers which is a heavier grade, not too thick so I can print it out, and is a vintage sepia colour. For me, it means I can add or take out as I evolve on my spiritual path. A book of shadows/Grimiore is very personal. Do what makes you happy your style, it’s yours. Thank you for sharing 💜 your video. 💜⭐️ 🔮....🍒

    I have been spending a couple of weeks of looking at various different grimoires and such to get ideas and some inspiration. There are lots of really stunning and beautiful books out there but not practical for what I need. I don't want art work, I want something I can use and yet still look nice. I have been working for a couple of months now with publisher on making my pages and figuring out how I want to organize stuff. I haven't yet printed stuff out yet because I am still changing and tweaking stuff. But, I wanted to let you know how thrilled I was to see your grimoire. You are pretty much bang on for what I am wanting and how my book is progressing along. Thank you so much for sharing this video of yours. You book is stunning and very use-able. :)

    Honestly, if you plan to make it an heirloom grimoire, printing it out is definitely a better idea, cause it's just way easier to decipher. Like, even if you have nice handwriting, sometimes it's just difficult to read handwriting.

If you don't see this that's fine cause I know I am commenting so late but I absolutely love this video so much I just had to ask this question. Where do you go to find all this information about each thing in the book. For example, the elements, where do you go to find information like air and water, and anything else in your grimoire because sometimes I want to write something in my book of shadows yet I don't know where to go to find information about it if you know what I mean :) thanks

      Most of the information in my grimoire was accumulated over many years, I had it tucked away in binders. I honestly wouldn’t be able to say where all the info came from, but Grimoire for the Green Witch by Ann Moura is probably my most referenced book. (Also don’t forget the internet is a wonderful resource for information.)

      I can only tell you what worked for me. I sat and thought of what was most important to me and in my practice. For example candle magic...so what does that consist of? I work with the colors correspondences and also oils and herbs. So clearly these three areas are significant.
      Consider what you’re drawn to even if it isn’t witchy per se.
      with herbs/trees/flowers etc. I only noted what specifically I work with. Your personal book isn’t for publishing after all, all you need is what resonates and matters to you.

      Certainly. A grimoire is basically just a reference book and a collection of information. The book itself is just leather, paper and words. The magic is tied very much to how the individual uses the information.
      How the information is stored and presented is entirely up to the individual.

      Unfortunately I bought them locally so I don’t think I can help you out, but...every large stone ring I own was purchased at witchy metaphysical shops so I’d say that’s your best bet. Anytime you’re going to go out of town (even just 45 mins away) check if there are any shops in the area you’re visiting and keep your eye out for hidden gems.
      Good luck and happy hunting!

    • @ShewhowalksbetweentheWorlds
      @ShewhowalksbetweentheWorlds  Před 5 lety +1

      It’s true you can find various correspondences when looking at multiple sources. I have a few sources
      I trust to use as a starting point, but it ultimately comes down to finding what rings true for me.
      It depends on what correspondences we’re talking about. For herbs it’s mainly Scott Cunningham and Ann Moura though I do also like John Michael Greer’s Encyclopedia of Natural Magic. For crystals I look outside the witchy community, mostly to The Book of Stones by Robert Simmons and Naisha Ahsian, nut I also like all of the little crystal bibles by Judy Hall.
      Many of my other correspondences have come to me from other witches as well. I was fortunate to “grow up” (as a witch baby) while working in a witchy/metaphysical shop so I was exposed to a wealth of first hand knowledge.
      I highly recommend Grimoire for the Green Witch by Ann Moura if you’ve never looked through it. It’s a wealth of great witchy information.

    • @ShewhowalksbetweentheWorlds
      @ShewhowalksbetweentheWorlds  Před 5 lety +1

      I can’t personally recommend any, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any I just don’t normally use them.
      Another suggestion when it comes to correspondences...
      I often figure them out on my own when I can’t find any. For example I work with cherry blossoms (from Japanese cherry blossom trees). Even on line I couldn’t find any magical uses so I looked into the mythology and symbolism associated with the trees to figure out how they could be used in magic. The same goes for bird feathers and many other things I use in my practice. You can also look into what you want to use is made of. That’s how I figured out how to incorporate terra cotta into my practice.

    • @ShewhowalksbetweentheWorlds
      @ShewhowalksbetweentheWorlds  Před 3 lety

      I don’t recall exactly what I did for the blue moon three years ago because I was actually more focused on the fact that there was no full moon in February that year leading into the March full moon and blue moon. I spent all of February that year doing shadow work as I felt a “moonless” month would be perfect for that.
      We actually just had a blue moon on Samhain this year, but unfortunately I had a cold and didn’t feel well at all so my hubby and I just wrapped ourselves in blankets and sat out under the moon for a bit. I hope you enjoyed Samhain and the blue moon! 💜

      @ShewhowalksbetweentheWorlds  Před 3 lety

      Firstly thank you so much for watching my video.
      Having the time to work on our books is actually one of the more difficult things about the whole process so I totally get it. I think there are probably several ways to approach it. If it were me I’d work on laying the ground work first. Whenever I had some time to myself I’d think about what I wanted from my book, I’d assess my priorities and figure out a rough layout. (Like a table of contents of sorts) If I had any loose notes, info or images I’d gather them together and organize them. Once I had a concrete idea of how I wanted to proceed I’d take notes and gather the info I needed to make it happen. A faster way of doing so might be to save online content on a drive until you have time to edit it and tailor it to your craft and book. I collected info for my book for many years before I actually stared to work on it and I really think that’s okay especially if it is all in a place where you can reference it as needed in the meantime.
      I think what’s most important is not to put too much pressure on yourself, having a book doesn’t make you a witch it simply a tool. Take your time with it so it turns out the way you want rather than forcing it and not being happy with the end product.

      My husband works a full time job with no real set hours. We share a lot of the same interests and work with many of the same tools and correspondences. I am also more creative for the most part. It’s basically a gift to him that I work on his grimoire, he really appreciates it. We sit down periodically and discuss exactly what information he wants in it and how similar/different he wants his pages or layouts to be to mine. Honestly it’s kind of like having two grimoires as there is Information in his that I rarely need and vice versa, but we can just sneak a peek at each other’s book on the rare occasions we need to.
