      I used ESYS to program mine since I have the German spec that is single stage going into a US spec car with dual stage airbag. I had an SRS light. If you get a US airbag to US vehicle it will be a different programming process or possibly plug and play. It’s quite complicated. If you aren’t technical or already know a lot about it, I know there are some that will connect remotely and program it for you if necessary.👍🏽

    Going from f30 base steering wheel (with no paddles) to a m sport steering wheel (without paddles). Think it will be plug and play?

    • @visiongarage277
      @visiongarage277  Před 8 měsíci

      For the paddle shifters, yes, plug and play. The main thing is the airbag. If you have a German spec or US spec airbag. German spec has a single velocity when deployed, US spec has 2 velocities depending on impact levels detected by the system. You’ll want to match that up for plug and play. If airbag origin is mismatched, you will need to have it coded.

    • @visiongarage277
      @visiongarage277  Před 2 lety

      I’m not exactly sure. Typically, exact replacement parts do not have to be coded, they are plug and play. If you are replacing paddle shift / steering vibration for the same, I can’t imagine that it would require coding. Usually there is a fuss for foreign parts. I could be wrong though. Sorry I can’t provide a definitive answer on that. Best of luck to you though. 👍

    • @visiongarage277
      @visiongarage277  Před 4 lety +3

      There are so many variables that go into coding your steering wheel with ESYS, or any other feature for that matter. When I was researching this, I literally poured through miles of forums and there were tons of changes over time, and likely have been some since I've coded mine. Depending on your year, model, trim, there are quite a few cheat sheets floating around several BMW forums (bimmerpost.com, bimmerforums.com, etc.) Here is a thread to get you started. f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1020138 Be sure to go through the whole thread and look for updates. And tokenmaster.blogspot.com/ is where I was able to successfully activate my copy of ESYS. There is really a lot of good info out there, just takes some time to research, setup ESYS properly, Lancher PRO, activate, then find your applicable codes, and apply them. Take your time as you don't want to mess up anything by rushing through things. Hope this helps. 👍

    • @visiongarage277
      @visiongarage277  Před 2 lety

      Yes cruise control still works. Just about anything your new steering wheel comes with can be coded even if it was not on your previous steering wheel… As long as the features and components are all installed; like you would need sensors for adaptive cruise control etc. Hope that makes sense…

      $450. I have direct links to all my mods in the description. Keep in mind this is a German spec single stage airbag, so as I mentioned in the video, US spec is dual stage. So any German spec steering wheel needs to be coded with Esys. (Or else you’ll get airbag light) BimmerCode, Carly etc, won’t work. Dual stage is $250-$300 more and prices vary depending on if it has paddle shifters, heated, vibro, etc.
