    Bought a similar model a few weeks back. Getting roughly the same results. 5 degrees at half speed, 8-10 at full speed. Crazy that something so simple can make such a large difference. I use a evga 1080 btw.

      @@vikrraal I couldn't tell you it would make an X amount of difference, but I feel pretty certain that adding a fan similar to this will decrease the tempertures of any card.

      i places two noctuas 120mm under my gpu and it gets -10 degrees celsius average so it is definitelly worth it. I have a rtx 3060ti eagle version which is kinda small card and the card fans are just not enough. The card before went easily to 82 degrees. You dont need to buy those specific products just buy normal fans and some pcie slot bracket.

    To be meaningful this test would have been better in a closed case, set upright, eg the way most people are likely to set their cases. Still its a great idea for a mod which anyone can do with a pair of old case fans.

    what if you have 3 on front as intake, 2 on top as exhaust, 1 as back as exhaust, would it cool the gpu if on the sides of the psu shroud you have full mesh, and add fans below the gpu as intake? aka blowing air into the gpu

    • @SoCalCode3
      @SoCalCode3 Před 2 lety

      Sounds like my setup. 3 Intakes in the front. 1 Exhaust to the rear, 1 exhaust on the top (Soon to be 2 on top) my gpu averages around 81 Degrees while gaming. If my exhaust fan comes in and along with this cooler, if my temperature drops down to 76-77 degrees i'll be a happy camper.

  • @chongtak
    @chongtak Před 3 lety +1

    Should the airflow go toward the graphic card or sucking air from it? I asked the question to a seller online, and he told me that the fans were sucking air from the card. I find it odd because it deprives the GPU fans of air to cool the card, doesn't it?

    • @TechforTechs
      @TechforTechs  Před 3 lety +1

      it can be setup either way, but the idea is for it to blow more air at you GPU, or if you have a case where it will fit you can fit it above the GPU to blow air away, heat rises so you should always be aiming to push it higher and outwards in the case. blowing the heat down will just mess up the airflow of your case unless you have some weird and unique case I have never seen before

    • @chongtak
      @chongtak Před 3 lety

  • @cyanide02

    Kinda pointless test considering it's not in a closed case where there's a potential for the air to get trapped

  • @medawc519
    @medawc519 Před 2 lety +1

    A proper test should be fans installed and turned on vs fans not installed at all, not fans on vs fans of as you did. Fans installed and turned off obstruct the GPU intake and may make it suffocate and go hotter.

      Thanks the comment, we chance upgraded the microphones we use since this video, we also have a different studio now, due to the ambient noise around the old studio and excess heat, we had to have the mic gain turned up, unfortunately this would make breathing sounds as well as other ambient sounds. this is no longer the case in newer videos after January 2021

    It's always good to acknowledge constructive criticism. First off never ever ever connect fan header while pc is on, regardless you warn people. 2nd I don't understand why you couldn't have just used a third party tool to turn fans off?
    Then your test. You say 6c lower on an open bench & claim in an restricted case you would also see the same results? Think about it. If you want me & everyone else to subscribe earn it.
