I love to watch the two of you, I can tell how much he loves you Miss Lorie, just the look in his eyes, you make an awesome couple
Me too, I love Mr. Brown's devotion to Miss Lori ♥️
It's so sweet to see a loving husband and wife!
I agree...
Barb C That’s so true! You know what they say about “the way to get to a man’s heart is through his stomach “ lol
I was just thinking the same thing about them. Such a blessing to see that in today's society. Btw, my grandmother used to make me a butterscotch pie like this-my favorite 😋.
We need a love button. You two are a true blessing.
Butterscotch is now considered an old fashioned flavor, sad to say. It's getting harder to find it in the stores in my area--and impossible to find it at an ice cream shop. So, Im glad to see you keeping the old ways and the old flavors alive. Butterscotch is a favorite in our family!
Thank you, we love it!
Hi does Smuckers still sell butterscotch in those small jars?? Butterscotch ice cream is the Best😋😁
@@drohegda Yes they do
Ya, that's true.. So, where did the butterscotch happen with the pie, is it the brown sugar?
In stores. My Canadian friends buy butterscotch ice cream, can't find it in South Carolina stores.
An " I remember Mama" moment. She made butterscotch pie in the 50s and 60s for us.
I loved that film! Love the pie too x
That’s a good good man who appreciates a good good woman. God Bless you both.
My grandmother used to make butterscotch pie for me. I wish I had her here to make one now. We’d sit a while and visit then laugh while we enjoyed the pie. Thank you for the memories . Brings tears to my eyes. 😢 Blessings, Mrs. Lori and Mr. Brown. I pray you feel better soon. 🙏🏻
Precious memories, xoxoxo
My mom was a waitress (in the late 30's) at the Dimeling Hotel in Clearfield, PA and they made Butterscotch Pie. Daddy was her best customer forever.
Oh to have someone look at me just once the way Mr Brown looks at Miss Lori!!! Beautiful!!!!!
Ring Lardner put it best I think. "He gave her a look you could have poured on a waffle."
@@maryblaylock6545 cute and sexy....lol
I've been married to my Husband for 20 years and just found out today that Butterscotch is his favorite pie. Working full time until my retirement last year never left me much time for baking, but I'm catching up now. I'm so very glad to have found you! Hugs to Y'all
Oh good, its one of ours too!
My husband likes it topped with whipped cream, it is even easier to make it this way for you.
@@GeminieCricket Thx for the tip
When you guys are driving through the hills of Arkansas I imagine my Daddy and his brother running through that grass as youth since that's were they were raised , what a beautiful country. such a nice vlog. God Bless the Brown's
When my mother passed away she had so many cook books! Most of hers are community type cook books. I love them. It is amazing what you can learn from the wisdom in the back of each one!
God bless you!
So very true! 🥰🥰🥰
I remember going to Mammoth Springs & Eureka Springs with my parents when I was a kid. We'd go every summer on a little road trip from Salem, Missouri down to Mammoth Springs, over to Eureka Springs, up to Branson & Springfield, Missouri, then back home.
Receiving someone's favorite cook books is quite an honor and very sweet. Very awesome!
Miss Lori, I just made this pie today! It turned out beautifully and was perfectly set! 👍 Thank you for posting this! 🤗 Butterscotch is one of my Dads favorites! He passed away in Jan 2021…I sure wish he was here to enjoy a piece 😔
What a beautiful pie! Thank you for sharing, Mrs. Lori! I can tell that sweet Mr. Brown is a happy man... with the pie and his wonderful wife!! God's blessings to you guys always!!!
I haven't had a butterscotch pie in years! Thank you! I'm making this tomorrow. Oh, I love seeing the love you both share for each other. That's just how my parents were. 🥰 Cherish every moment.
That looks fantastic. I thought we were the only family to call that “calf slobbers”. Made me smile. Thank you for sharing!
Has Mr. BROWN always been so appreciative of your cooking? I find that just charming, he is a gem.
You know, he really is
Even if its not all that great, xoxoxo
@@WhippoorwillHoller well I just made your butterscotch pie and it came out great, so I think your cooking is fantastic. I also made your peanut butter squares and they disappeared the first night. So you're 2 for 2 ; )
I have my great grandmother’s Secretary Desk. She passed when I was 16, at the whopping age of 3 days shy of 100. I loved her so much. I used to go stay with her on weekends and the bottom drawer in that Secretary Desk was for my coloring books and Chinese Checkers, which she and I would play together. That desk was a wedding gift to her, so it is well over 100 years old now, and I love it, and I cherish those memories of my time with her.
It’s so thoughtful of you to include the recipes. Hope you get to feeling better.

You’re so lucky finding all those lids ! My girls can’t find them or even jars ! I live in Tennessee n can’t find any , they live in Ky . But I guess there’s a shortage everyplace. I gave each one of them a kerosene lamp ...along with a prayer that nothing happens that they have to use them ! Be blessed and favored ❤️🙏🏽
I love butterscotch pie. But I haven’t had any since my mom passed away. She made the best pies of any pie I’ve ever had. I miss her terribly. Thank you for sharing this it reminded me of her.
Miss Lori,I think that pie will be a winner around here we love butterscotch anything. We Love Yall, GOD BLESS Y-ALL.
Brings back memories of my mamas pie they were almost to pretty to eat thanks for sharing you and Mr Brown are the sweetest couple God Bless you Both❤️
Thank you for the recipe, Lori. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well today, & I will be sending up prayers for you.
I would love to eat butterscotch for dinner with whipped cream yummy
This is the recipe of my granny made back in the '40s, 50s, and '60s.!! No one was allowed to make it but her until after her pasting. So delicious!!
Of course Mr Brown licks the bowl it's a southern tradition ☺ looks delicious Ms Lori. Bless you guys, you are so precious, love and hugs ❤❤ prayers you feel better 🙏🙏

I love Butterscotch, I love the old rocker and some great finds at the flea market..Thank you for sharing, Blessing to you Lori and Mr. Brown
Y'all are so sweet together. Love watching you both.
Before I retired, I was a lamp designer. I had my mold maker make a mold of a oil lamp exactly like that lamp you bought. It was a huge seller. It’s gorgeous in ceramic. I’d make a lamp shade to match the lamp. Brought back memories to me.
It sure was good to see you two this morning. It's still so Smokey in Oregon been hear my whole life and I have never seen anything like this. Hopefully they will catch the ones starting them. They have got some but they won't say much about them. Please pray for us.. thankyou both.

I am also in Oregon. I live on my homestead in the East, almost to Idaho. I am originally from Cottage Grove though a little town south of Eugene about 20 miles. I feel so bad for all of you over there, we are actually getting smoke all this long ways away. I can imagine what ot is like over there in the middle of it. Our church has been praying for all of you, and people in our town have sent supply trucks of aid. I just feel so sad.
@@beckykukoski8678 Becky, I lived in Medford from 1946 to 1952 near radio station KYJC. Am heartbroken to see all the damage to South Medford, Talent and Phoenix. They were on my route to Ashland every day for classes at SOC--lots of beautiful pear orchards along the highway in those days. Eventually got back to my origins in Portland/Oswego/Tigard. Stay safe . . . this will get better!
I'm a country girl born and bred and proud of it and I am so glad I ran across your videos. Much love out to you.
My mom used to make the best pies - butterscotch, chocolate, lemon - you name it, she made it! And wish I had one right now!!!
My Dad called merangue "Cow Slobber"!! I heard Mr. Brown call that the same thing!! LOL Gave me a sweet memory.
Sugar free subs. Swerve has a brown sugar, powdered sugar and regular sugar blend. They are all sugar free, the brand is Swerve. Pretty good too!
You and Mr Brown have hearts of gold.
Butterscotch is my favourite !
Lori, I've never had a butterscotch pie but since I love butterscotch I'm sure it will quickly become one of my favorites. I really like your pot holders!
I think you will enjoy it
My friend sent me these pot holders, xoxoxo
Just made this pie and it is delicious! The key to getting your pudding to thicken, is to bring the heat up slowly so it thickens before it begins to boil. Works everytime! Hopefully I'll get the same look and kiss from my husband tonight!😁
I just love that clock behind your stove miss Lori!! I used to make pies and sell them at the farmers market. I made butterscotch and flapper both with Whipped cream topping and when they tried a sample most went crazy!! The flapper was a old favorite of people who knew of it, and a NEW favorite for all the young men who tried it. I just loved the look on their faces when they tried it.
Pie ,Pie, I love Pie . There's nothing sweeter to my eyes than one of Miss Lorie's butterscotch pies. Be excellent to one another and cherish your life together. ❤🥧
You two are just so stinkin cute together ❤️ love this channel
This is great. In our family recipe light brown sugar is for butterscotch, dark brown is for caramel. My great grandma used canned evaporated milk and made a short bread pressed crust. I love seeing the little differences. I've always made it in a double boiler, or it gets too thick on the bottom, too quickly, but maybe I should try again - the double boiler takes a long time. We always make these pies at Christmas, and the kids line up to lick the pan, just like Mr. Brown. :) It's soooo delicious!
My Meemaw had an amazing summer kitchen. Pappaw built it himself, and all but one wall (the one where the stove, sink and fridge were) was made out of sliding glass doors. It also had a wood stove, and four picnic tables, so we could all sit and eat together. We used it at every holiday. Thank you for bringing back some of my best childhood memories
Thank you Holly, xoxoxo
That pie has just got to be ... YUMMY!
It makes such a difference to actually see what you’re describing. This is our Son’s favorite and, thanks to you, I can now fix it for him👍💞
Times are wearing on the world right now, sorry Ms. Lori you are feeling off, a piece of that pie won’t hurt a bit. I saw my bowls at the shop. Take care and stay blessed.
I love butterscotch pie! ❤️
You guys are the same age as me. but the things you do and make remind me of when I was growing up. Love it these are the things my mother use to make. Thank you !
This looks delicious!😍 Butterscotch has been one of my favorites since a little girl! Thank you for the fabulous tutorial!❤️
This is the second Thanksgiving that I've used your Butterscotch Pie recipe. It is my favorite version. My daughter brought me vanilla from Mexico during one of her mission trips there. It made the pie sooooo good. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed Thanksgiving. I tried to send you a picture of it but couldn't. The meringue was beautiful.
It's one of my favorites !
My family is from Arkansas. When I hear you talk, it is like hearing women from my family. Such a lovely accent you have. It strikes chords in my memory and my heart.
I'm 73 and my Gramma made butterscotch pie&my mother made me one every year for my birthday.Love it,Love it! I have their recipe but I'm going to try yours with the cornstarch.Thank you & hubby for all your videos!
I don't' think I've ever clicked on a youtube link so fast. BUTTERSCOTCH anything is my drug of choice. LOL Thank you for another amazing recipe. Absolutely adore your videos.
Hope you're feelin better soon. :)
Note: the difference between butterscotch and caramel is the sugar…now I know why my sauce was always a bit different. Caramel uses white sugar and butterscotch uses brown sugar. I used these sugars interchangeably in my recipes depending on how much brown sugar I had on hand. Sometimes I’d even use both to save my sugars.😎🥰Thanks for the recipe demo…
Thanks for spoiling Mr. Brown with that gorgeous butterscotch pie. He is so good to you. Hope you are feeling a little more perky. We all have those kind of days. You two are loved beyond measure. God Bless from Texas. 🤗
Thank you Sweetie, im feeling a little better, xoxoxo

Looks so yummy!! Have a blessed and safe week!! Sweet Mr Brown loves Ms Lori so much nice to see the affection you have for each other still!!😍
You are so gorgeous and your hair is beautiful!! Love how Mr. Brown stole a kiss from his dream girl! Just adore the two of you!! Thank you!!! Made your Apple crisp it waa s perfection and this is the next recipe I will try!!!! Love you!!!
I love watching your recipes and knowledge about gardening, I use to watch a lot of youtube but I realized how unproductive it was to watch people cleaning, I know how to clean, and I was wasting the time that I should be cleaning. It's nice to watch something useful after I do my chores and I love the help teaching people how to cook food they might not know how and especially the help on knowing how to plant and grow, my grandparents tried to tell us stuff but I've long forgotten but y'all have that knowledge and I'm so glad y'all pass it on! I love the authenticity!!!
Thank you Jane, xoxoxo

What a blessing to find the old lids..made so much better than the new ones. My Amish friends say they boil them in water with baking soda to replump the seals and reuse them..but it works best with the old ones

I haven't had butterscotch pie since my youth! So excited to try this!
Beautiful Jar you bought for buttons! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
My mama's favorite pie! Love to the Browns! Feel better real soon, Miss Lori.
I’m originally from Missouri. My grandmother and mother made this pie. I live in Texas now and just want you to know that the people down here, that are from here, don’t do a meringue pie. They put Whipped cream or Cool Whip on the top. That’s OK, but it is not meringue! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Butterscotch pie. In fact, it is my favorite next to a coconut cream pie. Yes, put that cream in there. I wish I was there with you. It is hard for me to watch, as I have tears in my eyes. I had to go vegan due to really bad health reasons, and I REALLY miss cream pies. 😢 Is there anything better than a good cream pie with meringue, especially butterscotch? Congratulations on your cookbook. I want it so badly. We love you all! 😍
I live in Texas, so do several of my relatives and we make pies with meringue all the time, in fact I frequently make butterscotch pie, using dark brown sugar, and when I have someone that dislikes meringue I tell them they can put that on my plate and I’ll give them the whipping cream.
When I was a teenager my boyfriend was over and my Mom had made pies and she said I could invite a couple of friends over for pie too,
one of those friends was my bf’s brother, soooooo as we’re eating bf is eating the pie with the meringue and his brother called him out saying
why are you eating calf slobbers, you don’t eat them when momma makes pies, of course he turned beet red and all the rest of us had a big ol’
laugh. If you shop at TomThumb, a friend told me that they occasionally have Tippin’s pies, they may have pies with meringue, Tippins used to be a restaurant with delicious pies, both with and without meringue. 🤗
ugh whipped creme or cool whip ICK ! some of us here (IM FROM SE MO ) GIVE me my meringue but i confess i eat the pudding when i can find it so to the 7/11 for the candy instead // hello i live in S E Texas
I'm so sorry about your Health issues,
Prayers for healing, xoxoxo
I’m flummoxed by your comment, I was born and raised in Texas, did live in California for awhile, but every female in my large extended family made cream pies with meringue, my daughter in law who is from California prefers whipped cream, but will eat meringue, me being just one person certainly can’t speak for every Texas pie baker, but every slice of cream pie I’ve had in my 79 years has had meringue. Seems like the cream pie would look naked without it!🤗 I love butterscotch pies, love coconut, had a slice of that for dessert when I recently celebrated my birthday, but my favorite pie is German Chocolate. In case anyone would like to make one, it’s very simple, just use your favorite chocolate pie recipe, and around a minute before you think it’ll be time to remove the pudding from the heat add a cup of coconut and 3/4 to a cup of chopped pecans, top with meringue. I first had this pie while living in Cali at a Marie Calendars restaurant, after moving back to Texas I searched and searched for a recipe for German Chocolate pie to no avail, finally decided to use my Mom’s recipe for chocolate pie and add the coconut and pecans and it worked perfectly. Hope someone will give it a try and love it as much as I do. Now I think I’m going to go make a pie. 🤗🤗🤗
@@lolaottinger6976 Well, I might have know I’d already commented on this video a year ago, and on the anniversary (I’m guessing here) of that post, I’ve posted again! 😂😂😂😂
This reminds me of my childhood. I had an aunt who was baking something all the time and butterscotch pie was one of them. Boy was it ever good. I sure miss her. After watching your video I will have to make a butterscotch pie . Thanks for helping me to remember her.
Thank you for the video. As a young woman, my grandmother would have Sunday dinner ready before the sun came up, fried chicken, pot roast, broiled pork chops, what ever. There was always mashed potatoes, candied carrots, green beans and dressed eggs. BUT, my grandfather loved chocolate meringue pie. My grandmother, not a big chocolate fan would make lemon meringue pie too. She would have all this done before church. Their breakfast done, cows milked, chickens fed and dinner for three daughters, their husbands and six grandchildren. Again, thank you for the recipe video. I pray that you are feeling better today.
People worked so hard back in the days, she put in whole day work before church
Feeding, loving her family, xoxoxo
Good morning Lori. I wanted to tell you that when I saw your video where you were using shelf stable dry milk from Houser Hill Farm I thought that was a really smart way to keep dairy products in dry form. I went to the site and I was blown away at how many cooking items I could get in powdered form. I just received 6 different products today. Like sour cream, buttermilk, whole milk, buttermilk, parmesan cheese and heavy cream. These are all products I cook with regularly. This is really going to save me room in my refrigerator. Thank you so much for your suggestion.
I've been keeping the powdered buttermilk...I have a bad habit of drinking all of my buttermilk that was intended for cooking and baking! 🤭
I also love drinking buttermilk especially with cornbread. I live to make homemade buttermilk pancakes and buttermilk biscuits so I go through a lot of buttermilk.
@@lavernaturner4757 It's a bi-weekly staple on my grocery list!
I freeze my buttermilk in muffin tins then put in baggies BUT - I am always needing heavy cream or sour cream and live way too far out to run to the store so thanks for the heads up on that!
Chay, that's a good idea too. You will be surprised how many things that are dry mixes and shelf stable so you always have it. They have crystal honey.
Ok made this for tonight's dessert. Haven't cut the pie but Lord have Mercy scraping the bowl. It is so good. Definitely going in my box of favorites.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Mr. Brown is a very smart man. Nothing better than caramel/butterscotch! 🥰😃
