Er war schon in vielen Bands und ist nach wie vor extrem umtriebig. Nick Oliveri, ganz früher bei Kyuss, ehedem Queens Of The Stone Age, schon länger Mastermind von Mondo Generator, hat auf diversen Beschleuni-gungsstreifen immer ein Motto: sein Leben im Stoner Rock und Hard Rock zu genießen. Weil, so der Bassist und Sänger, die Welt verrückt ist und die guten Zeiten rar sind.
Er war Bassist bei Kyuss, er spielte bei den Dwarves, und von Ende der 1990er-Jahre bis in die erste Hälfte der 2000er spielte er zusammen mit Josh Homme bei Queens Of The Stone Age. Außerdem ist er in der US-Rockszene ein extrem talentierter Netzwerker und konnte für seine diversen Band- und Musikprojekte immer wieder ausgewiesenes Fachpersonal gewinnen: Unter anderem hat Nick Oliveri mit seinem guten Musikernamen schon bei Dave Grohl, Mike Patton und Brant Bjork gepunktet.
Ursprünglich als Nebenprojekt bereits 1997 gegründet, ist Mondo Generator seit seinem Rauswurf bei Queens Of The Stone Age 2004 die Herzensband von Nick Oliveri. Bei ihr gibt der Kalifornier gekonnt den kernigen Shouter, ist dabei immer straight und meistens sehr schnell unterwegs und spielt auf der Bühne seine vielfach bewährte Rolle: die des toughen Typen mit kahlem Schädel und beeindruckendem Bart, dem man besser keine Beule ins Auto fährt.
„Fuck It“ heißt das aktuelle Studioalbum von Mondo Generator, und nicht nur beim Titeltrack wird erneut klar, wie sich die musikalische DNA von Nick Oliveri seit Jahrzehnten zusammensetzt: aus Stoner Rock und Hard Rock, na klar - aber eben auch aus einer guten Portion Punk. The Stooges - jene Band, die schon Punk spielte, bevor das Genre überhaupt offiziell erfunden war - gehören nämlich genauso zu Nick Oliveris musikalischen Helden wie Iggy Pop als Solokünstler.

It's amazing to realize that Nick voice aged much better than Josh voice. Nick is screaming since the end of 90s and was doing it perfectly yet, and your clean vocals kicks ass too. Josh only singed on confortable voice zones all time long on your career and despite that currently he is on trouble to sing some notes of your old stuff.

Saw Nick preform acoustic and otherwise at a benefit in february this year at the Hood in Palm Desert. Amazing lineup of local desert bands. Sean Wheeler mario lalli the hellions blasting echo my brother john ( with the legendary alfredo hernandez on drums ) in family butcher.. and more. 25 bucks up front and center and close enough to see everyone sweat. Love desert rock.
