    I just picked my Callisto Grey Metallic C400GT two days ago! What a blast to ride! Your right, not many videos in USA on these. I test drove 10 different motorcycles, Harley, Honda, Indian, and BMW. I was looking for a used RT when dealer got this. I test drove and had a smile ear to ear, this was just a blast to drive! It has all the safety features of high end bikes and an automatic to boot! Unfortunately I live in Michigan and bike will sit for next 4 months but gives time to get all the accessories purchased and installed over winter, Wunderlich windshield, hand protectors, engine (body) guard, BMW rear trunk, etc.

    • @jmhunter83
      @jmhunter83  Před 2 lety

      That’s great. Which hand protectors did you go with?
      I ordered a luggage rack so I can put a Givi on it. I saw on forums some folks are using the vario straight on the rack.

      Used RT?....What's that? And how tall are you? I want a scooter or Maxi scooter but I am 6 feet tall and have long legs....I don't want to feel like I am on a child's bike with my knees up in the air....I know for sure I would remove the back lumbar support on the seat and that might give me more room to scoot back....

    • @kennethgray2711
      @kennethgray2711 Před 2 lety +1

      @@jeffquickle3793 RT is a BMW RT1200, BMW’s middle size sport touring motorcycle, aka. Boxer. I am 5’10”, 32” inseam, on the C400GT, my feet are flat footed on ground with knees very slightly bent when stopped. Seat is tilted forward, you can easily place your position on seat for proper feet placement on ground. With the floorboards, it has two spots for feet, with foot on horizontal board, I am in comfortable sitting position, knees slightly down and lower legs vertical, not cramped, with feet in forward position on floorboard (cruising position) knees are slightly bent, I don’t feel cramped, I don’t feel like I am extending my feet. I find it extremely comfortable.

    Thanks for the review. Hard to find any info in the US on these. What are your thoughts of having this as a daily driver? I live in SW Florida with no daily commute (work from home). My wife has a vehicle for her commute so we will always have one vehicle on hand. I can't justify having a vehicle of my own but want something to get around and run to the store for groceries and such. I've only ever owned a yamaha smax and it wasn't very comfortable and was pretty terrifying taking it on the highway past 70 mph. The BMW looks very nice and comfortable but i don't want something overly huge and heavy so I am curious about the size and weight (I believe its around 470 pounds wet?). Is it easy to maneuver ? Does it feel overly heavy or big? I am 6'1 205 if it helps. Thanks again!

    update: well, at 2,000 miles it’s already in the shop for warranty work. oil leaking from the cvt! the honeymoon period was pretty short. if i’m told weeks to repair it’s going bye bye. it’s an expensive scooter that may not be manufactured to the highest standards. i’ve owned hondas and yamahas that were perhaps less refined but never broke down. sometimes you don’t get what you pay for. on friday the bike goes in to be taken apart to find the cause… i have a feeling that my authorized dealer will likely have no experience or clue how to work on this. if that’s the case i’m sending out to pasture like a horse with a broken leg. too bad it’s a good looking bike that should live up to its namesake, super disappointed in BMW right now. it may be the fact that these particular machines are assembled in china. i used to live there, trust me quantity overrules quality 100 to 1. bummer

  • @cottonanddustproductsofwes6584

    I have this same one. Look at either BMW or ShadUSA for a top case. These make a big difference! Also don’t be afraid to change the seat up- I had mine recovered in a saddle brown and it’s 🔥!! I have a 1250RT touring also but this is my everyday here in Texas. BMW makes a taller windscreen for these, will add an extra 2” of height. I’ve been riding since I was a kid and I’m serious when I say this is one of the better commuters out there. Would I take it on a long trip? Yep. But these really shine around town. Make it yours! Have fun guys!!

    • @jmhunter83
      @jmhunter83  Před 2 lety +2

      I’m new to riding. I traded someone my vespa for an older vstrom. But ya this is the best around the town deal. I’ve also taken on the freeway several times. Great visibility. The vstrom came with a givi v46 case, so I bought the stock luggage rack and universal Givi mount and I’m good to go. I should probably do an update video. Also got my first oil change about two weeks ago. I’m at 950 miles.

    • @jacobhunter2492
      @jacobhunter2492 Před rokem +1

      I've taken it on a few trips, all less than 100 miles radius from home. I prefer my v-strom out of town, having to run the motor with the throttle pegged isn't exactly relaxing. As well I don't find the seating position fun on the highway.

      @@jmhunter83 Two up with my wife. I am not a little. Easy and comfortable indicated 85. Not sure this would be my normal cruise speed but very capable scooter. Little front turn in at slower speeds. If you are new to twist and go then I would drive it in a big parking lot at slower speeds to get a feel for the scooter at slower speeds. Just a great scooter. Wife and I did two up for over 100 miles in a day. Also heated seat and heated handgrips make a huge difference on cold days.

    I have a 2019 Vespa GTS 300 Super, I’ve been thinking of selling it to get into this. Only gripe I have with it, it’s built in china… I to spend about 10k on this I would prefer it was a German Bike, or at least some type collaboration with one of Japanese built scooters… It’s still tempting me, though…

    I've got a Suzuki Burgman 200. This one looks like it has a lot of features. My biggest concern -- pardon my ignorance if I'm wrong --- would be reliability and the cost to maintain. Obviously BMW cars perform well, but that requires the owner to be diligent in maintenance, which is expensive. Not as reliable and trouble free as Japanese machines. My fear is the scooter would be in a similar boat.
