Road tripping on India's most expensive scooter, the BMW C 400 GT | First Ride Review | autoX

  • With a price-tag north of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), the BMW C 400 GT is currently the most expensive and the most powerful scooter that money can buy in India. Of course, it's marketed as a niche lifestyle product for big bosses and CEOs to scoot around in comfort and style within the city. However, if you go by the technicalities, the C 400 GT is essentially a tourer. So, when we got our hands on the C 400 GT recently, we thought we'd put its touring capabilities to test and see if it's more than just an expensive toy for the rich. We covered a total distance of over 600km in two days as we rode down to the beautiful roads of Dehradun and Mussorie from Delhi.
Watch the full video to see how the C 400 GT fared over the course of the journey.

Two points... Why compare it with 125cc scooters when there are plenty of 300-400cc scooters out there?
Secondly, please lower the volume of the fill-in music. I value my hearing. Other than those points, a good review.

Hi David, thanks for writing in. We don’t have any 300-400cc scooters apart from the C 400 GT in India at the moment. India is primarily a 100-150cc scooter market, and they’re all priced at 1/10th the price of this BMW. And sorry about the loud music, we’ll keep the audio levels in check next time. Thanks for your feedback.

This review was intended for the Indian audience where there is practically no market for maxi scooters -- which is why the 125-150cc comparison.

The proportion between the bgm and the actual audio is what he said is excessive.

I own a Honda forza 300 here in Bangkok and its such a value for money scooter. Got traction control, ABS, keyless entry, 50+ litres under seat space which you can use all the time. Mutli info display and power Is quite enough. Have done 600 kms with a pillion and top box and was able to cruise at 90-100 kmph and it was quite smooth. I wish we have a Forza in India and would guarantee it will be a good buy

BMW C400 line is manufactured for BMW by Kymco of Taiwan which is a very experienced Scooter company. The Kymco "version" of this is an Xciting S 400i, so far as I can determine. And way less expensive.

If something like this comes to the indian market under 3lakh by Indian OEMs like TVS or Bajaj then I would sell my Dominar400 and get one without giving a single thought. Very practical touring machine, comfy, storage space, gearless. This would create a whole new segment for tourers. I believe that people would take it to mountain trails tour highways and be very pleased.

Should have had Hill Hold and Descent control. That is a sore miss. Still, it's a superb ride. 👌 I would buy one, if I have the bucks. Vieste 300 is a cheaper option, though not comparable to "The BMW". Vieste is way above SXR 160 and way below C400.

C400x is not Kymco. Its designed by BMW and made by Loncin. Loncin also produces other model such as F850 and F750. So its definitely BMW.

Loncin manufactures engines for BMW F series. Data plate should show Taiwan as Mfr Country of Origin (as it shows on USA C400 GT.

Must say your review is good except for the crappy loud fill in music.. Regarding the scooter.. the price is way too expensive.. makes absolutely no sense.. Total flop show and thanks for your review as i bet it will deter many buyers...
