People from cultures that have very long names tend to be hard for kids who have to fill out scantrons and have their teachers call them by name. It's not hard to figure out why it would be easier to call a kid Frank, than a name that you have to write every day, and that people can give you trouble for. Many kids pick the name themselves.

I have a working theory that they're so self-involved that even when their families express shame at their chosen 'career" they shrug it off and tell their families that they are making the big bucks and stealing from the "evil foreigners." I love what you do. Scammers called the county bus to get my grandmother to her bank to withdraw a thousand dollars, then took her to dollar general to get 2 gift cards. Thankfully the lady behind my grandmother stopped her from making the transaction, took her home and called the police. She thankfully got her money back and we put a freeze on her account. This was terrifying. So thank you for saving victims.
Bless that woman for doing that. We are the protectors of our neighbors, not just our families. When we see wrong going on, we need to stop it. This is why I constantly talk to my mother about these scammers and luckily she's very open to learning about these issues and how the conversations always go.

It is 5:24 PM on 11-07-23. At about 5:00 PM, in Pontiac, Michigan, my 72 year old sister just wired $25,000 to an online scammer. She is threatening to kill herself. It is her life savings. I can't believe she did this. I. Just. Can't. Believe. It. How could she be so easily duped?? I am just sick about it and I can't do anything about it.
Gotta love the mental gymnastics this scammer goes through to delude himself into thinking he's not a scumbag, and to try to shed any personal responsibility for his actions.

I got scam few days ago, I now the filling.
A scammer told me today that he lives a ‘lavish lifestyle' and doesn’t care that it’s blood money. They literally DON'T CARE about other people.

Neighbo of mine got scammed out of 7k... He literally couldn't make any payments. Had I been there when it happened I would have stopped it. No way any legit company will make you send money via parcel, gift cards, or any other method. The legit companies will debit it back (I was in banking and know how it works). It's just honestly so sad.... that was his savings he lost.
My aunt was scammed by this company in the 1990s that was similar to publishers clearing house, she gave them every penny thinking she would win something but of course never did. She was suffering from dementia at a very young age (55) and ended up in state care when she died from her dementia at 61. Scammers are evil-thank you for helping to stop them

I keep getting calls for final expenses and life insurance. They want to take an eft as payment. So they want your checking account information. They said they were going to send me the paperwork to look over and then decide,BUT, they first want your information for the checking account. This is so crazy! I get at least ten calls a day. I wish I could stop this. They are driving me nuts!

My mom was scammed yesterday. When she started telling me what happened I thought back to what I've seen here and the tactics thr Scammers use.
I told her it was a scam and she was able to confirm it was and get her money back from the CC.

She sent me a message on Facebook and I didn't see it. When I opened the messages she had already talked to "Norton Anti-virus" and her phone was going to update the firewall for we iso after she got faster internet and she'd have access to her emails again... It all happened rather quick!
I am an Indian living in Iowa, US and I get 30 scam calls daily. I start in English to play along and then speak in Hindi so they get spooked out later 😂 I think the police should start a major crackdown on these call centers honestly

My new favorite thing when answering the calls, and they ask me for my name. I tell them it is first name Pero Last name Gee, then I have them read it back, and they hang up.

What is even worse is how they get people's information. They buy phone numbers and email addresses from legitimate companies who sell your information to other companies without your permission. This needs to be made illegal. Your information should not be sold for a profit. If they are going to sell my information, how can they tell me I owe them money?

The most commonly used indicator of a country's level of corruption is the CPI (stands for Corruption Perception Index). If the American government is corrupt, it doesn't logically follow that the Indian government isn't corrupt. All countries need to continuously be fighting corruption within their government lest corruption will take a hold.

So, I used to get several scam calls a day, every day. Recently I noticed I had maybe once a week. Then it dawned on me, it's because people like you. You've helped the problem so much and I'm very grateful!

During covid my 92 year mom was scammed by the taxes/credit card scam for $9500.00.
The sheer hubris of these people trying to justify the criminal acts that they’re pulling off is mind-boggling. I hope you continue to expose them for years to come.

This starts when they're hired. They're often hired for legit telemarketing jobs. They're taken to a conference room and asked if they had any reservations about taking money from greedy Americans, those that can't do it leave, the ones good with it stay and learn how to scam. They're told over and over that Americans are greedy and selfish and deserve this.

Thanks to you, and other people like you, who work at exposing scammers, I knew exactly what to do when I got my scammer call today.
He informed me, in a gorgeous Mumbai, or New Delhi, or Dakka accent, that someone had purchased items from Amazon to the tune of more than 700 dollars, and charged it to my account. And that the person or persons in question were located in Toronto, Ontario.
I said 'thank you very much, kind Sir, for helping me out and I will report this to Visa immediately. Good bye!'
I phoned Visa immediately and told them what had happened, and they checked my account. Of course, no Amazon items of any kind had been charged to my account.
Once again, thank you for informing us of the kinds of tricks that these criminals are capable of. From a wiser old lady.

My brother fell victim to a scammer a few days ago it was a different kind of scam that I’ve never seen mentioned here so I thought I’d comment, they called him and said he’d missed jury duty and even said the county he lived in and everything and that he owed a fine, they made him take cash and drive to wallgreens and deposit it and scan something on where to send it. Very sad. He didn’t tell anyone while it was happening but now he’s out $500
