    As a test/ development rider, I think you reviewed this spot on. They are huge fun and way less stressful than lugging a 200kg bike about. Maxiscoots are probably the hidden gems of midrange motorcycling, huge fun, cheap to run, and very practical. I have more fun on my little FL125 Address than I do on my ZX10. They will always be looked down on by the weekend wobbly brigade, but we know better.

    Thanks for the nice little review. I have ridden motorcycles for many years but have had to switch to a Maxi-Scoot for health reasons, so after over 40 years of nodding I am now totally ignored by motorcyclists... strange old world. Ah well at least I am still enjoying two wheels rather than four.

    • @brettkepler7375
      @brettkepler7375 Před 6 lety +21

      That saddens me when motorcyclists don't nod or wave to moped, and scooter riders. They're out on two wheels taking the same risks that motorcyclists are but somehow they think they're better? Well here's a wave from a motorcyclist to you. Ride safe man. Enjoy the ride.

      Me too - you are still on two wheels and inherit the same risks as a sports bike. In fact the wheels are considerably smaller so you feel those slips and slides that much more.

    I got a motorcycle but favor my Burgman 400…like you said, there’s nothing to really to pick out and say it needs something. It’s fun, flickable, practical and I enjoy the versatility. Thanks for the review, I could have missed out on this beauty.

    Lovely machine, my 400 Burg was older but was still a great machine, and anybody who says their not for fun I disagree, I travelled many a mile on mine...just for fun, besides my commutes to work, Shopping etc, a great alternative to a car.😀

  • @archer8096
    @archer8096 Před 4 lety +6

    Nice review! After riding for several years and owning dozens of bikes, I’m now on my second maxi scooter. I changed from geared bikes because my commute is 12 miles in all weathers and after riding a maxi scoot on holiday I actually enjoyed the relaxing experience they offer - I found you can take in more of what’s around you without the concern of clutch/gears etc. I do miss the feel and excitement of my old street triple or CBR600, but for a commute the under seat space and zero chain maintenance to worry about is so great in the winter. I’m sure I’ll own geared bikes again but for the moment the scoots totally suit my needs. I do find that bikers totally ignore me now though which is a shame.

    A great common sense review Spicy. As you say there's a use for every type of bike, having owned scooters and bikes over the years Iv'e found scooters excel for commuting and in the city traffic and bikes are just some much fun on the open road. I was going to say bikes for touring but I once toured around Wales for two weeks on a 125 scooter carrying camping gear and a backpack. In my defence I was only 17 and it my first scooter and I just didn't know any better.

    I owned a 2007 buggy for about 4 years and I loved it. I am 6ft 6ins tall . It had plenty of leg room and went like stink. I had to sell due to covid and redundancy. But I have just ordered a 2018 burgy with 12000 miles on it and can't wait. I had an sh125 mode for a short while and although being a Fantastic little scooter I am too big for it. I can't wait for the burgy to arrive. Oh yes this is a brilliant review.

    My main bike is an MT07, I use a little Honda PCX 125 for crap weather days and for its storage capacity. I can carry about 5 large shopping bags between the schoot and my backpack. It's certainly not a cool or exciting form of transport, but totally practical and I get to keep my 07 showroom clean.

So, I'm pretty sure I'll ride away on one of these. Thanks for the great review spicy110 !

    I love the Susuki Burgman and no one can change my mind. I've retired from motorbikes and this is the perfect answer.
    650 is unnecessary, so the 400 is perfect as I occassionly can take the highway etc when I want or need to.
    I'm 5"4 at best so it's easy to throw around and I don't need to change the windscreen for a taller one.

    Thanks for the review Spicy110 - entertaining as ever! I’ve got the 650 and she’s fab, a lot heavier than her baby brother here but she’s so much smoother, faster, more fun to ride. I currently have the 400 on loan as my 650 is being serviced and I have to say I don’t particularly like it! She’s very ‘growley’ at start off but then gets a little smoother. However, at slow speeds, I find it a little unstable, for instance, when coming to a stop she’s a little unstable! I was considering doing a trade in with my 650 but now I’ve tried the 400, there is no way on God’s green earth that I’d trade her in for the 400!! Keep up the great reviews Spicy - I really enjoy your frankness and humour!

      you 've tried the new 2017 model? Cause its an entirely different scoot than the 2016 400 Burgman. Since you 're a suzuki owner most likely you 're talking about the new one but... since i am considering an upgrade myself would be nice to be sure about it.

    • @toriasummers2670
      @toriasummers2670 Před 6 lety

      Nestoras Bellas Thanks for your reply. Yes, the 400 I”m referring to is the new one - it looks really sporty but I just felt it didn’t feel quite so planted as the 650. However, having said that, the 650, whilst it’s bigger, heavier and more cumbersome to move around when the engine’s off, it’s very smooth on the go. Sadly, I’ve sold my 650 and am now re-considering getting the 400 though I need to test ride it again - perhaps I was being a little unfair and judgemental about it previously. Don’t let what I’ve said put you off buying one - these things are subjective and what you might like, I and some others may not and vice versa! Enjoy whatever you ride and take care :-)

I am thinking of trading it in for one of these. I was looking at the 650 but that looks far to big. Would you do distance on yours? Whats the economy like? Would you carry a passenger on it? Thanks, thanks and thanks. Ed.

    When you get the chance ... try the Suzuki Burgman 200 and lets see that fun with the baby Burgman. lol Being disabled and limited with hands strength and weight limits (feet) I have been looking into scooters. Here is the states (South Carolina) it is hard to find a dealer with any highway scooters near me. I did purchase in July this year the 2015 Honda PCX 150 Metallic Black. I have upgraded it to top out at 70-75mph GPS and like it ... but want a little more umph/power/pull. So I am researching the 2018 Kymco X-town 300/Yamaha Xmax 300/Suzuki Burgman 200. Now to see who wants to work with me to get one. Have fun be safe and 2 wheels down head on a swivel.

    I simply don't understand the hate against scooters. The people who own them, use them everywhere all the time. Many people with traditional bikes, only take their garage queens out a few months a year when it doesn't rain...
    I had a gl1500, but you don't start that 6 cylinder engine up just go a short distance to do shopping. Shopping on a racer bike or a chopper is next to impossible, whereas the scooter is perfect for it. I'd have both in a heartbeat...

    • @spicy110

      I quite agree, the thing is it seems to many people their bikes are a social or social status thing, not daily transport.

    If there wasn't snow 6 months a year here, I'd totally get that instead of my car, plus my fun bike. Which really is just a ninja 400, but that thing is insanely fun. But with the snow, I sadly can't ride a bike in the winter 😢 (like it's literally against the law, it's not just about the size of my nut sack)

    The Suzuki has a rising rate rear suspension, a linkage connects the spring/damper to the swinging arm, rising rate gives a good compliant soft ride without bottoming out at the extremes of wheel travel, The Yamaha Xmax has better front forks, the fork legs are clamped in an upper and lower yoke at steering head of the frame, just like a motorcycle, Suzuki and Honda have a single lower yoke, omitting a top yoke, the Honda Forza 300/350 an electrically powered push buttom front windshield, can be adjusted while riding to compensate for speed and conditions. The Suzuki is too heavy! 25 kg more than Yamaha or Honda. My ideal scooter , forks from Yamaha, rear suspension from Suzuki, screen system from Honda, weight of the Honda or Yamaha!

    Hi this type of bike makes not
    Much scents in Australia or America with big open roads
    .But When you move to Thailand
    ( Bangkok ) and you WILL
    this 400 is exactly what you
    Need . ( a car in Bangkok is
    Like having tits on a ladyboy )
    Nice to play with but no MILK
    trust me on that one !!
    Back to the bike
    In traffic you DON'T DON'T
    need gearing to hassle with
    You need a twist and go system
    And a large cargo box . But if you want to get out of the city
    The 400 cc with 2 up can easily do the job . And your new 23 year old
    ( GURL friend ) can use the bike it
    Go to the local shop as well .

    I have a 2014 b400 and I am NOT upgrading. they half assed it. small
    body, shitty small wind screen, much less cargo space under the seat.
    MUCH smaller seat. no paqssenger backrest like the previous. less front
    storage then before. led lights are weaker then halogens. less power
    then before. mirrors look like from $10 ebay ones. rear passenger has
    foot pegs instead of a foot platform. bigger body is much more stable
    then a smaller body.
    in every way this is a complete fail. screw you suzuki. will have to go with honda now
