    Gerald is one of my fav CZcamsrs and integrity amongst the highest. I just wish he would have waited until long after the Panny event ended and avoided the piling on that all the others are doing for views. Panasonic is one of the best vendors, supporting their cameras for years, constant updates, etc. I still think all of you wouldn;t have done this after a Sony or Canon event for fear of alientating those vendors.

    Brands need CZcamsrs not the other way around. Brands that want to cut corners will seek out CZcamsrs that don’t have a standard. When I want to know something about cameras I’ll go to Gerald Undone because he’s the standard. Once he start not giving the facts about cameras his viewers will notice that immediately, and he know that will be a bad day for his channel.

      They work to better their own situation, skating a line between consumer and brand which has historically not been transparent. That leads to consumers buying products they otherwise would not, or not buying products actually suitable.

    I think the role of reviewers is to give opinion on what the "target customers" the product is aimed for, not what they, as reviewers, personally like or not.
    Only and very few reviewers have that mindset.
    When "professional" photographers or video graphers gave trash review on the beginner product why it doesn't have pro mic support or have this pro flash syn or this and that, I think they miss the point.
    I saw one S9 reviewer read through the spec sheet, saw one card slot and video limit, he knew exactly what this camera is made for. Not for them, but for the target audience it aims at.

    40:00 I'm surprised that despite TikTok's popularity, this camera seems so confusing. Given how popular the higher-priced Fuji X100VI is, even with its Super 35 sensor, this confusion is even more surprising. The X100VI is so in demand that it still has backorders from the first day of release. Considering this, it's puzzling why Lumix wouldn't want to capitalize on this trend. The professional features of the Lumix S9 serve as a gateway to a broader ecosystem for aspiring filmmakers. Simply put, these features prepare users for future upgrades. People always want bigger and better, so it's inevitable that once they’re in the ecosystem, they'll eventually gravitate towards a pro-level device. Lumix took Fuji Life style approach, with their indie film life and made a 2024 version of how Sony took audiences. let them live so that they can eventually get ahead.

    • @Terry-yz6kj
      @Terry-yz6kj Před měsícem

      Lumix ecosystem? An ecosystem is not about of a bunch of cameras. It should consist of lens options, accessory options. I don't see many accessory makers focus on lumix. Lumix seems to care less. They took 1 year to release s9 and ignored the existing lineup. They will spend another year or so fixing all problems in S9. You can't build an ecosystem with that approach.

    • @amthemusic7632
      @amthemusic7632 Před měsícem

      @@Terry-yz6kj Who said that? Did you read it? I don’t even want to explain the ecosystem, but as a taster, that app would be a starting base because most manufacturers don’t have such good applications. Sigma, Leica, and Lumix form the L-mount alliance, with Lumix developing the best technology to create lenses at a lower price. They have effectively built small lenses and pancake lenses with integrated IBIS and added phase detection AF, transferable to the FF system. Their frame IO integration and color science rival the best. Their codecs have been the least boggling, finding the best balance in cameras for use from a professional level to everyday carry. They even created a new light version of MP4 that maintains quality and can be easily uploaded to social media.
      My whole point is discussing the future of their ecosystem and building an audience for it. Forgive me, I am a Brand strategist. People love entry-level options but tend to pay more for premium products, like what Apple does. I can keep going, breaking things down. They haven’t even released the S1H Mark II and the S1R Mark II. Do you understand this is a pivotal time? I don’t think you read what I said. You may be a a lumix user, but you sound like you don’t use the cameras at all lol. Also, are you aware that they have the patent for ND filters in mirror cameras? Are you aware that they pretty much were the foundation for mirrorless cameras as a whole.( Lumix and Olympus )the XLR adapter that you see Sony have there’s so many things that have been copycatted, but people have been so use to, following Sony that they ignored all the outstanding features that Lumix has from auto focus so this is the pivotal time and all of those robust features that can be blended from a low level to more of a pro level are gonna be at the hands of many, so I don’t really have anything else to say. That’s a small percent! You’re definitely personal plays checkers not really chess because I have predicted every single move. They have made and I know where they’re going within a year or two from now they actually respectfully took time to get their operations together and entice people specific way and you can’t see it, also last thing lens system is probably one of the biggest systems out there when it comes to lens so we don’t even have to get into the S series but yeah I’m not gonna get into this.

      @@Terry-yz6kj What problems do they need to fix on the S9? It’s pretty much the exact camera for its intended market and if anything will get some added features in a firmware update asap. Probably the record limit will change or go away since people have already proved it doesn’t overheat and lumix is super stringent on their tests. There actually is an eco system even if that’s not something you use or care about. The new adoption of LUT’s and the ability to grade on the fly on your phone is useful to a lot of people.

Recall that the P2303 registration from China was done way back in late september 2023! Even if the P2303A was/is the G9 it seems very delayed. Basically 8 months in! Which I think in honestly it is not as the S9 is only a slimmed down S5M2 which really should not result in such major challenges during development. That's probably why it was rushed in the last minute without the new zoom lens.

    An abundance of camera products and a high standard of technical innovation has been achieved.
    When this happens, manufacturers try to sell gadgets as innovative and reviewers often support it.
    When TV panel technology was perfected, there were curved TVs and they disappeared shortly after. Because they were garbage.
    The S9 and stuff like the insta360 are like curved TVs.
    If camera reviewers are reviewing every piece of garbage with a sensor in it and hyping it up, that is not trudtworthy. It is not about the camera with this topic, it is about observing the CZcamsrs' lack of sensitivity in the face of materialistic abundance.

    Thanks for having me on! Tried to be honest. Overall, the S9 is a fun camera for some people. I happen to be a person who likes it if I had the luxury to afford it. With a set of good Sigma mini primes this camera gets a bit too close to the price of many other options out there that may have better/worse features so you just have to use your own judgement/maturity to decide if it’s right for you.
    For a full time TikTok instagram influencer, this thing would be perfect. Pretty sure nobody here is that person.
    For me, a dad who likes taking pictures of the kids, i like this thing for that purpose, but maybe a Ricoh GR III is a better, cheaper, more practical option.

I also started out on the T2i and 5Dmk2 setup for events and run and gun stuff and remember time limits on 1080p LOL. I just sold my LUMIX GX85 and this is actually a pretty solid replacement for that m43 pocket/action/street/C-cam. Pocket 4k stabilized anamorphic for $1500? A sweet backup camera which matches my S5iix perfectly in a pinch? I think part of the problem is, the crazy value the other LUMIX cameras have created, (S5ii and S5iix). If those were priced at $4k like the Sony equivalents the S9 would look like a sweet little B-Cam at $1,500. Or a nice little intro Vlogger camera like the FX30 or Zve1. It’s like Panasonic is being hated on for giving us something with a lot of great features because it’s priced to close to the other cameras.

      @@davidaltizer Not at all man! Have fun with it. Heck I might enjoy the camera. My comment wasn't to be inflammatory, just to point out a genuine point of criticism that has been noted about camera CZcams for a while. I think the contrast between the previous conversation with Gerald and your segment helps bolster many people's view about reviewers. (The broader view, not just about this camera)
      I think that some of the content creators involved in camera marketing have a bit of a lack of self awareness that they are in a position that is dissimilar from their viewers. We don't shop in a vacuum. It's a little disingenuous to say that there's no other camera that has these specs at this price point when you can regularly find the S5ii for the same price or cheaper. The used market exists. I think it's valid criticism to wonder if content creators opinions about things are biased because they don't have to purchase the product with their own money, so they are not making the same decisions that a typical buyer would. So your over-excitement to overlook the camera’s shortcomings APPEAR to come off as pandering even if they are genuine.
      In this PARTICULAR instance, I think the disconnect between the product's intended user and the North American creators selected to market this camera magnify the greater issue that many people have about "review culture".
      To be fair, I think the S9 is a cool camera for what it is. I think that multiple things can be true at once.

    Which begs the question what happened to the original camera plan for this Lumix summit as it probably was for something more like a S1 mk II or GH7 type "filmmaker" body.
    Strangely enough the P2303 registration was done way back in late september 2023. Even if the P2303A was/is the G9 it seems very delayed. Basically 8 months in! Which I think in honestly it is not as the S9 is only a slimmed down S5M2 which really should not result in such major challenges during development.

    Of course corporate politics suck but that’s the way of the world in terms of how companies operate.
    Balanced reviews would be ideal but I think everyone on CZcams at this point understands that 99% of CZcamsrs of biased. Everyone speaks from their perspective and some people are hype but once you get knee deep - you won’t be dependent on any specific folks. It has to be in you not on you.😬

    Someday I might buy a Lumix S9. The first reason I won't right now is because I don't need it. All my current needs are well covered by equipment that I have. But when that day comes, it will depend on what alternatives are "out there", and what they cost. So there is the equation: my needs, the abilities and the cost. But specifically, yes, I could simply add an S9 to what I have and I could derive a benefit. And I would take in consideration what I would do afterwards. One thing that has not been mentioned is that, depending on the price at that time, and the alternatives, I could see using it as a "crash cam". But yes, a lot of this depends on the price, on the day that a need arises.
