Did you remove the shims or not? It was not clear in the end. I also converted my camera and leaved the shims inside, which was a big mistake, because of this I don't have infinity focus so I have to take it apart again and move the sensor closer to the lens.
I hope you mount the CCD on a big heatsink and not in a camera - but in a custom made box

i do not know much about the filter and stuff associated with that sensor, but isn't there also the peizo element for clean off the dirt though?

That's the part you're referring to.
Don't put it back in! It also blocks IR & UV which you certainly don't want.
