    This was an excellent video. I’ve never used plugins and recently sold my axe 3. I’m actually stunned how good the Gojira plugin sounds. I like it better than my axe 3 tones.
    Question: can I run this with a JBL Eon powered PA speaker? Instead of a power amp and speaker cab?? I’m using a 3rd gen Scarlett 2i2, and my laptop of course, and I wondered if I could run my powered speaker to this. I need to get a midi controller still tho. Thanks in advance man really liked the simplicity of explaining this

      @robinbressani  Před 3 lety

      Hey Chris, Thank you very much!
      When I tried this solution I used a valve pre Marshall with active speaker, and for band practice the volume was too low (and it's bad to have the volume almost at max). If you have to play something more chill than metal, maybe it can work for you! In the comment there was another guy with almost the same question, my answer still the same: try without, if it works for you good, if not buy a power amp :)
      P.s. yes neural dsp have really good sounds, if you want to spend a lot of money you could also consider the new quad cortex of neural dsp, in my opinion thats "the new axe effect"
      Cheers!

      @thorstenthorben196 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes you can do that no problem. Just make sure to turn on your Cab Sim again, else its going to sound weird.
      Im using the plugins into my active monitors at home, into active PA speakers as well as live into my ENGL rack poweramp and a Mesa box.
      I just tried to voice the left cab sim to use with my monitors and the right cab sim mic to use with our PA. Then you can dial it it so you get almost the same sound out of the 2 variants that sound closest to your real poweramp and cab and turn each on and off depending on what your playing over atm.
      Boom: most versatile rig ever.

    Thanks! Amazing video.
    I have a question (forgive me for being naive)
    If you are using a Neural DSP plugin (lets say archetype gojira) which has amp and cab simulations and impulses, why use a power amp and a cabinet with this setup? Can’t you directly send the output from the interface to the mixer/console and then out to PA and stage speakers? What harm will that do?

    • @robinbressani
      @robinbressani  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Aditya! Thank you very much for the compliment.
      Yes you can send the output directly to the mixer, in my experience the sound was very low with band practice! Furthermore on stage could be helpful to hear your sound (in case you don't have a monitor/the sound engineer is sleeping ahah) that could be hard to do without a cab on stage. To conclude I think that the cone of the cabinet is the last part of your signal chain and it's (in my opinion) very important to obtain a more ""realistic"" and better sound in general.
      Even though neural dsp have really good plugins that can be used without cab and it's right what you're saying, for my experience (for metal music/with a band) the volume was too low.
      Cheers!

      @@robinbressani Ciao. In sostanza se uso ad esempio in Plugin Neural Dsp ( ne ho vari ) e voglio registrare con un solo take un brano che ha una parte distorta e una parte pulita, senza fermarmi, non riesco a farlo, non riesco a settare logic per rispondere ai segnali della pedaliera ( che funziona invece benissimo in versione stand alone )

      Devi creare una traccia software instrument e cercare nel midi il plugin che vuoi usare, czcams.com/video/6Yz_kuDcq0I/video.html questo signore lo spiega in maniera molto semplice

    Thank you very much! It helped me a lot, but I have a question, is it normal the delay when changing presets with the controller? I use the Midi Commander, and a Behringer umc22 interface, all connected via USB, I don't know if that influences the problem.

    • @robinbressani
      @robinbressani  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey! Thank you I'm happy it helped! There is like 1 sec of silence when you switch from one preset to the other and I really don't know how to get rid of that..

    Thank you so much you really helped me. As others said i too have the meloaudio model which is basically the same. Everything worked fine tho i have one question regarding the CC# commands in the 4 switches above.
    I did it like you and have the 4 presets below and the 4 effects above. I can turn them on and off but they will always just turn on in the default settings. But lets say for example i want my delay on with a certain tone and timing... how can i do that? like i said it will only ever turn on the default mode and then i have to do the resst on my laptop which kind of defeats the purpose of this foot switch.

    • @robinbressani
      @robinbressani  Před 2 lety

      Hi! Thank you! I don't think that's possible...It would be necessay a section with "delay preset" and it does not exsist...I tried a solution with "midi learn" but yeah as you said it keeps going back to the last status. I think the best solution is making every preset with the delay you like, if you want to change the delay mid song the only thing that I cant think is to use one button to have a delay tap tempo

    This is a helpful video. And I love the tones. But the silence that occurs when switching patches is annoying and impractical. NeuralDSP support says it’s normal. Disappointing.

    • @robinbressani
      @robinbressani  Před rokem

      Yup, I also have an eleven rack that switches midi with a logic project, the silence between one tone and the other seems impossible to remove. When you play with a band it's impossible to notice, but yea, not perfect

    The only downside the footcontroller has is when you change a preset on buttons A-D, the selected buttons 1-4 loose there selection.

      @robinbressani  Před 2 lety

      Yup thats how CC absolute works, its not a problem that concern the footcontroller :) right now I switched all the buttons to have only program change and be able to have 8 different preset (I dont even think I need 8 different preset actually ahah)

    I just got this same midi commander and I'm having issues making it work as shown in your video. The only difference I can see is that I'm using a THR10ii amp as my auto interface and when I have the midi commander on in cus2 setup, it does no appear in the audio settings in order to enable it. If I turn it on normally, it does show up to be enabled. Ignoring that one detail I'm able to set up key assignments just like the video but when i restart the midi device and enable it, they do not function.
    I can only assume it's because it's not enable in the auto settings from step one, but I cant? if the midi commander is in set up mode the only thing shown in midi input devices is the yamaha thr10 itself
    EDIT: moments after making this post it starting working. I don't even know what I did different this time but it's all good. Thanks for such a clear video on how to do this!
