You need to vent the hot water heater btw
It will cause issues if you don't I believe
Careful of the words you use, they are powerful. The hose doesn’t cause cancer, you are blessed and covered in prayer 🙏!!!!
Proverbs 18:21 puts it this way: “The tongue has the power of life and death.” The stakes are high. Your words can either speak life, or your words can speak death. Our tongues can build others up, or they can tear them down. I’m learning this daily guys! Love the channel
I have a GREAT idea. Since the exhaust is so SAFE.... please feel free to stick your head on top of it for 2 minutes and breath all the air. You WILL be fine right?
Dont rely on tech to keep you safe. If you need to ask the question then VENT it outside PLEASE. After 20years working in a "safe" asbestos mine people eventual said ops not safe but they thought the same thing as you do in the back of your mind.
I can come for free and do the work you supply the pipe.
@@Melicoy I agree
people should never rely on tech to keep the safe
also things like that NEED to be vented outside
@@BenCos2018 carbon monoxide...
We fill all our cisterns from rain water that comes off our roof. Works much easier than hauling it. Use water filters and uv light to purify it. Good luck and thanks for sharing.
Have you ever thought of making a rain catchment system. To avoid going into town getting water. Then transferring from one tank to another???
That's what i was wondering....
FYI - Suggest you look at getting 1 or 2 of the Zero G hoses from Walmart. They are drinking water approved and you have no problem rolling and unrolling them. They are black in color and feel like a fabric versus vinyl. They are very lightweight too. We used to have a couple of those white hoses and we now use the Zero G in our 5th Wheel RV with no problem.
I am in my sixties and have drank out of a green water hose all my life and I am still living and with no cancer.
I have too but the hoses we get are palatable type hose, there is hoses that's contains bad elements like lead and chemicals.
Hose water is so good. Kind of nostalgic lol kids now wouldn't understand.
One of the best step by step videos on how off grid water works start to finish. Thanks for sharing!
Take some scrap lumber and build a couple of steps so and your SO can easily step into the crawl space and easily get back up.
Very informative for those who require info on the water systems at off grid properties. Yes a complete tour would be fantastic, especially for people such as my wife and I who are looking into this great style of living. Cheers guys.
I hauled my own water for many years. It’s a real pain. Now I have the water delivered.
Yes Would Love to see a Cabin Tour as well.
Yesss!!! to the cabin tour. I really Love your family and Thank you for sharing your family with us. God Bless
Thanks!
Yes yes on the cabin tour!!!! Great video, so much good information for us without a well and stetting up a water system!
We would love to see a full tour. Secretly we have been taking notes for a while. We are loving your journey so far, and we love Idaho.

We used to have lead pipes so I'm sure your green hose is fine.😃👍
Nice tour of your water system. It appears there are a lot of projects ahead. You have plans to already change the house interior. Look forward to hearing more.

A nice white blanket.
Its warm below the frostline.....relatively.
Spaghetti hose
Lol, prostrate problems
Y'all keep in shape. That crawl hole is going to get old later.
Nice system.
I love that water filter. I have to fill it every other day. A great simple system.
Good video.
Wow another amazing super great video info and analysis from absolutely the best channel on CZcams. Great job .thank you
You people are living the American dream, keep on going!
Y’all have great energy. Great set up thank you! Looks simple! :)

A full tour would be awesome.
Everything is set up really great God Bless
YES, we want an entire cabin tour
Great video. God bless
You have great taste,I used on demand hot water heater ,for five years with no problem, the only thing was my son and his wife came to visit I needed help couldn't get him out of the shower,,we sold the place and it's still working as of last year,
Salam from Baturaden , jawa tengah , Pak martin....👍👍👍👍
If you ever search for the correct way to wind up cables, that method also applies to house pipe too and keeps it tangle free 👍🏼
Why not get huge giant container fill with snow and rainwater? Which are in abundance. I've seen people In Bhutan harvested the snow and pile it in on side. That helps them with water supply.. 🙏🙏
Hose .... prostate problem.. hehehe.funny joke
Fit Mama's and Papa's jumped into the crawl space..
Another great video. I thought you had a floating heater in the water tank to melt top surface of ice? Looking good J. Mad climbing skills. LOL. Thanks for sharing
Hey guys! We loved the video! Love seeing all the progress that you have made since we were up there.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for the video. Now I have some great info to run with... Smiles and blessings...
...good one, keep safe..
That's a great way of living especially with a beautiful outdoorsy wife.
This is so amazing and encouraging
Solar thermal is a fun way to make hot water as you can run it fully off sunlight with the collector array and a solar panel to run the pump. The evacuated tube setup is best in a place with snow as it is much harder for large amounts of snow to build up on a round pipe then on a large flat panel.
Love the Train wood stove humidifier you have!
Greetings keep up the great job... make a hill next to the water tank so you can back the trailer next to the water tank... no green hose :)
Idea! Put a stool in the crawl space for petter egress. Also a place to escape and smoke cigars.
wow, super life! a wonderful world! a good thought!
I'm new, I'd love to see the cabin! And a walk through of the apartment, too.
Thanks for sharing your life. As most people pointed out.. if i was your son.. i would not like to have the water heater in my bedroom, I think you will not forgive yourself if soemthing happens.. love your channel and would be great to have a full tour. Peace and best reagrds from the Netherlands.
I think we said it was temporary. but maybe we forgot to say it.
this gave me some wonderful ideas!! thank you so much!!
I love it yell did a great job
Great stuff thanks. And you guys have a great energy, btw. . . prolly all that livin' free! :) Greetings from an expat fellow off-grid-er in the beautiful west of Ireland!
Awesome video, thank you. When you showed the view of the forest and lake in the background I KNEW you were in North Idaho. My wife and I have land 30 minutes east of Coeur d Alene where we intend to retire. We got an estimate of 28K to drill a well so we decided that we will install a water tank and haul from the public source 9 miles away. I searched CZcams for "best water tanks for areas that freeze", and there you were. Now I'm going to watch your well drilling videos to see what happened. Hope to see you in noridaho...Geoff and Lynn
Thank you for sharing. Gives me hope. Like how your tank is below ground and doesn't freeze. I have something similar. Have to go to family to use number 2 and take shower
(talking to all of you at once) Love the videos! You folks have a super awesome family! This is one of my favorite you-tube channels... Suggestion?. When you make a re-cap or "tour" video... try to add links to the original videos in your series. I found my self fumbling through your vids this morning looking for the origins of this tour... to re-watch. Happy new year!! Hope to be watching you all long into the future!
Great! Thanks!
Great video! Good to harvest rainwater as well if possible.
Awesome video thank you
Yes! Cabin tour, please. I had to laugh, I grew up drinking from the "green" hose water. 😂
Coming soon!
I'm going to be living off-grid pretty soon. I'm excited and a little scared too. I have never been 100% off-grid. Once upon a time I killed my breakers and used solar to power my lights, propane to cook with but I've never been without instant access to water. That's going to be a challenge but if I didn't think I could overcome it then I wouldn't be doing this. I'm a scientist. I built a nuclear fusion reactor (not self sustaining). If it was self sustaining then finding the off switch in a malfunction would be difficult. I've built some weird stuff. This step could be my chance to explore my creativity to the fullest extent. But still, failure is always a possibility..
I would love to see your cabin tour. . I found your channel a few weeks back and love it ❤️
Awesome! Thank you!
Yes ,cabin tour 🎉
Very good show guys.
010921/0936h PST. Like every time.... every time... I am flabbergasted to see see how things are administered meticulously, by the Johnson family. Can I perform, these intricate systems? Yes of course I can 🥴🥴🥴
Err.. I lied. Upon The Almighty... I will not be able to. Every time I watch each episode... my admiration, towards y’all, climb exponentially. I learn from you. Words are few when the heart is full..... thank you Sir, Ma’am and the kids. Stay safe and Bless y’all. 73s...
Just watched the drill video. I'm out of order. But, glad you have a large tank in place already.
Simply wonderful....I hope to do something similar sometime.... maybe Scotland 😊🏴
Very nice and better then TV shows.
I’d love to see a cabin tour!!
Great video
The aerial overview is a great way to see where you are loosing all the heat in your house. Your roof leaks quite a bit of warmth!
it is a 9-12 pitch. snow slides easy. the garage is only 6-12.
Hello first time watching. To make life a little easy when empting your water supply tank on the trailer to your holding black tank. Add a air valve to the fill cap, to the water supply tank to pressurize the tank with compress air. Do not over pressurize the tank, watch and see how fast it empties
Nice video.
love your videos just wondering if you should be using stronger straps on that much weight in the trailer, that tote holds 275 gallons if im correct and thats 2295 pounds of water alone for those dinky traps. Be safe Guys and keep the great videos coming :)
nice tour
I bet the kids love not having walls lol. great tour.
You might look at Zero-G water hoses. Much more flexible compared to your white and green hose and they are approved for drinking water.
I didnt hurt me my years or drinking out the hose pipe
@@Oink09 You ever hear of something called “survivor bias”?
@@loganc6818 no
I wish I had a way to share a photo or two. I copied your wood rack design (with a slight alteration) for the house; and a smallr version for my cabin in TN. Both turned out awesome. I used cabinet grade maple (from a salvage place).
Just ran across your page and when you were filling up the water tank I thought wow that looks like Coeur d Alene and sure enough I look and you guys are from north Idaho!
A lot of people venting in one form or another would like to say lovely to see you all with a smile on your faces refreshing! Yes would like to see the full tour when the time is convenient to do so thank you, Patrick O' Flaherty it is 3 minutes past midday here you snoring in your beds me typing on my computer. Any chance 4K? Lunchtime soon. Keep on rocking and smiling 💚❤
Thank you so much!
I'd love to see a cabin tour.
Nice Video, thanks. I'm setting up the cabin I bought as well as the addition now to be free of any and all utility companies by the end of this coming summer.
You seem to be a happy family on a great adventure. Idaho is beautiful. I want to find your adventures in Tennessee next. I'm just getting caught up but if you are going to be there much in the winter you might think about insulating the floors above the crawl space. Though heat rises you must be "spending" a lot of your heating budget to keep all that area warm. You would then need to worry about your water pump freezing but maybe you could build a wall around round it and heat a much smaller space.
Thank you!
😃
Hello my friends I congratulate you as a very beautiful, wonderful and creative family I wish you a happy life.🖐️🖐️🇾🇪🇾🇪🇾🇪🌹🌹🌹🌹👍👍👍👍👍
i have watched a ton of these kind of video's with ether boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife and your wife looks and act's very happy all of the others i watched act but you can see there just putting on a show thanks to the both you
Yes, tour of everything please.
As kids that green hose was all there was back them and we all drank from them. Still here.
Maybe you could build a crude wooden box of the right size, and drop it into the crawlspace, so that when it is time to come back out of the crawlspace, you can use it as a step to get out?
Awesome ❤️❤️❤️
Yes please an inside tour.
I laughed so hard when I saw your trailer with the 275 gallon tote, hooked up to a 3rd gen 4Runner. I’m off grid and haul my water in a 275 gallon tote on a utility trailer towed behind my 3rd gen 4Runner!
And stiff hoses really are a pain in mid-winter, Vermont.
Those drone shots at the beginning were gorgeous...New Sub here
Growing up we had a water storage tank that must have been about 9thousand gallons and every year our well would run dry in the summer. One year after the water came back we started to notice a peculiar smell coming from the water then a color and really nasty smell. It turned out to be a squirrel that made it's way into the tank then into the pump in the house hahahahah that was pretty nasty but dad got it cleaned out and we went back to drinking it again and we didn't die hahahahaha
awesome and what a great woman
