    It's funny, Tom has played some hard bastards on screen but in real life he seems like the most mild mannered, nicest guy you'll ever meet.

    I just think he is a doll. He is a great chameleon, which makes acting very natural for him. He is tortured like all artisTs, but his maturity in the art of acting and life is shining through. I just love him and his intensity.

      @@fairybits I would not call him a doll either he's not some play thing. He had some issues with drugs and homelessness when he was young but I would not presume to call him tortured he seems pretty happy now settled down nice looking talented etc.

    I always like watching Tom explain his roles and acting. He's willing to open up about it. Most actors won't try to articulate what they think and feel. Tom will always take the time to answer those questions.

    Brando is Brando; Hardy is Hardy; both terrific actors. I'm sorry, but in my opinion Tom transforms too in the character he plays. When i watch The Take, i see Freddie; when i watch Stuart a life backwards, i see Stuart; when i watch Lawless, i see Forrest etc. And furthermore he has such a unique screen presence that one can't look away. He's very gifted.

    First of all, i'm a great fan of his work for a long time now. Personally, i'm not comparing him to Brando, but i do understand why people make that comparison. The pure rawness in acting and his great charisma. I don't agree with you about him being insecure of how he should play a character. I read that he has explicit ideas of who his character should be and he 'transforms' into them. All directors and co-actors are raving about that.

    Like I said over 3 years ago -- here's your next Brando. I knew Marlon very well and he felt that most actors were superficial. This genius lives every part he plays and is so versatile it boggles the mind. Intensity, ruthless machismo, sensitivity, and above all--he hasn't been spoiled or turned by the Hollywood machine. The greatest actor alive.

    • @samthunders3611

      Hes not Brando or trying Tobe hes being Tom
      but he sure is highly influenced by Robert Dinero almost in a imitation sort of way..Straugh up strinking poses and looks he gives a fellow actor in a scene
      And straight up imitating Bob's signature expressions and looks down to the head nod

    Don't ride the Hollywood trip to destruction Mr Hardy. The quality of work that is Stuart: A Life Backwards is not on offer in big budget, mainstream american films and you will be pigeon holed in the hollow, meaningless trifle churned out by most american studios. Mr Hardy wants the attention and benefits that big budget fame has to offer but at what cost? Ask Colin Farrell, Clive Owen, Gerard Butler, all stripped of what was so compelling about them to begin with to be integrated into the generic, revenue generating husks that they are today. The studios will make you repeat Bronson, Warrior or Bane over and over again or miscast you in silly romantic comedies that have no interest in character development or storytelling but instead only offer continuous series of unrealistic scenarios that act as a caricature of real life. Fast forward 15 years you will find that you accomplished little more than allowing strangers to use and discard you like an old tissue. I assure you, that would be an astronomic waste as you are probably one of 5 actors in the world who have the potential to take his craft to a previously unattainable level. Leonardo DiCaprio was once a promising your actor with the potential to exceed expectations for his generation but he took the money, the fame and the adulation and regurgitates the same performance over and over again once or twice a year to earn his money and the attention of the press. You Mr Hardy, have already shown more promise than any of your peers and limitless opportunity is laid out before you to choose the path. Work with those you respect, embrace those projects that inspire you and remember that your life has already given you the material to affect the mood and feelings of million. What type of influence in your industry is more potent and enduring than that?
    Good Luck

    Go back and watch his work you'll see what i'm talking about .He plays too the idea of his character;brando was being his characters.It's not and insecurity because he does it with all of his roles.So he's secure in that choice he has a likeness to a brando. I just disagree with the comparisons in general.The only reason why tom hardy is as good as he is is because hes a big fish in a small pond .There's aspects of tom hardy that make him a great actor where as marlon was a complete package.

    Seektruth1st--I was Christian Brandos girlfriend for seven years. Marlon was like a father to me up at 12900 Mulholland Dr. where he lived. Please google LaureneLandon and Marlon or laurene and Christian. Marlon and I made many sojourns to visit Chirs at CMC where he was incarcerated after he got a gun from my house which killed Dag Drollet. I was involved in the trial.He always called me Vanilla--I always called him Pop.Two publishers contacted me after Marlon passed but I would not acquiesce.

    @laurenelandon2866 Před 11 lety +1

    He only works in films with three dimensional characters -- doesn't care about the CGI big budget movies albeit he was Bane in Batman. What a waste of talent covering his face in that film. Few actors work for the writing as opposed to the big bucks. A consummate professional, a revelation, and an internal narrative at all time is going on with him.

    i've already read that if he was like no one else why the comparison to brando? Are you really a fan of hardy's work as and actor or are you just a fan of the guy ? Tom hardy isnt good at being any of the characters he plays .He interprets them its like he's not very sure of how the person should be played .He plays to the idea of the character hes a performer .Marlon synthesized life of the character he just knew how to be that person .Thats genius that not everyone gets .

  • @leejee88
    @leejee88 Před 11 lety +1

    OMG... Terrible movie! Of course it's Tom Hardy best performance, he's the only one in the movie. The movie it's more a speed warning in order for you to always respect speed limit (car noises are the most "rush" thing you will hear it). Hey this film it's nothing. I think the actor shouldn't accept the role because it's neither good or bad, it's nothing!
    PS: I must see another moovie with Tom because if I stay with his image regarding Locke... it wont be fair for him!
