  • Memorial Day Weekend 2024. Our first hike of the year in the Columbia River Gorge. The hike begins in the town of Cascade Locks and go through part of the Eagle Creek Fire burn area. We did an 11 mile loop with 1500 feet of elevation gain. It is always fun to hike on the Pacific Crest Trail, another 2100 miles and we would be in Mexico! On the return trip we became aware that there was no gorge trail in the area of Cascade Locks, Oregon so we had to road walk for 3-4 miles.

Thank you for showing us all these hiking and camping areas. This will help many of your viewers see where they want to go hiking this spring and summer. I live in Tacoma and I'm taking notes.

You are welcome, I hope the drives give you an idea of the distance and also it is nice to see how big the parking lots are, that is always my concern of getting a spot.

Beautiful with all the green vegetation. Do you ever hear any wood knocks when you are hiking in the woods? I'm sure they are hiding when you walk by lol the big fella

Not yet but the grouse still startle me! Have you made it out to the backroads yet this spring?

@@AmericanOutbackAmazing lol it happens. Yeah we are outside of yelm so we usually go over to Ocean shores. I went up to elbe State Forest last weekend. We did go hiking at the place you went last week outside Olympia. I think we're going to go up to Mount Baker towards the end of summer and go camping for a week. We are taking a cruise up to Alaska mid July and doing the train ride through the yukon's so we have 3 weeks scheduled up in Alaska

Cool, I want to go to Fall Creek Campground next and hike from there. That cruise and train ride sounds awesome! You should make some CZcams videos of it?

@@AmericanOutbackAmazing yeah I need to buy a GoPro. I used to have one but I wasn't able to really figure it out because it's just like a block with a button it was too confusing I had a hard time figuring out if it was on or off. What model do you have

Lol, so true. I have to make sure I have the correct settings every time I turn it on, once I did time warp instead of regular video. I have the GoPro Hero Black 8, the newer ones have an even worse overheating problem so I have a second 8 as backup.
