    Very good and comprehensive video. I placed an order for a Corolla hatch last week and will definitely be doing this.
    Another plug-in upgrade(though would require some wiring work to single horn vehicles) is to go with horns from a more upscale Toyota vehicle; most Lexus models are pretty good if you can find them in boneyards. Toyotas have used the same horn connector since the mid '80s, so you've got a lot of options to choose from. I did this on my '88 Celica; replaced the relatively wimpy horns with those from an LS400. It saved me getting hit a couple of times by inattentive drivers.

    Thanks for the video. I have a 2021 Corolla ZR hybrid. Your clear and easy instructions made it a breeze for me to install these horns using the Toyota adapter. I placed one horn in the original horn position and the other to the same spot on the opposite side of the grill so the sound may balance better- maybe it won’t make a difference at all. I did have to solder one of the little wires to a longer wire to reach. Now my little red car has a big loud voice. Watch out motorists!

    What a great video! Thank you so much! I followed this step by step and now have a much more respectable sounding horn :-) it was a bit fiddly fitting the horn on the right but got there in the end! The Toyota harness was difficult to source in the UK so got it from China which took an age to come. It came in a pack of two so if any one in the UK wants the other one contact me. It’s just the harness not the red wires but happy to pass it on. So glad I made the change. Thank you again :-)

This modification caught my attention but i've never tackled a wiring project like this so I figured an even swap 1 horn for 1 horn would be good. would having only one decibel tone (330 or 400) be no improvement over the really weak Toyota stock horn tone ? Thanks for any advice

    • @MattWalters
      @MattWalters  Před 2 lety +2

      You could, but it wouldn’t sound right. The dual horn system is compromised of 2 different tones, one high and one low to combine to the noise you hear in the video. So you could use just one, but it would be either a high or low tone and not as loud.

    • @ronrosenkaimer1096
      @ronrosenkaimer1096 Před 2 lety

      You want the low tone, if using only one. If I do the work, I am making a statement with the horn. I guess it all comes down to how much attention do you want. My motorcycle has loud ones.
