Some are saying this series doesn’t show how funny, engaging, smart, and so much more of Truman. Had the series focused in his younger years, it would be shown. But we still get Truman’s humorous nature & how smart he is, and how much losing his friends meant. Yes, it was sad he never got to talk to Babe again, but that speaks to the deep, deep hurt he caused. As to exactly why he did that, we may never know. This was a Good series!! Great acting.
Tom Hollander was brilliant! I felt a sense of sadness about Truman’s life.
He really was a tragic figure and his demons destroyed him.
Tom Hollander constantly surprises me with his acting ability.
He was the best Mr. Collins, no one else compares.
The cast was amazing
I really loved the series. I loved learning of this time in high society among these women in NYC. I loved watching the relationship between him and Babe. The humor was funny and scathing !The scenes with Lee Radziwill were interesting ! I didn't know she dated Onassis first. So it makes sense how her relationship with her sister would be challenging. I wish the series would have been longer and would have focused on Truman and the swans when they were younger in the peak of their popularity. There were a certain amount of truisms, food for thought offered in the series. Really looked forward to viewing each week.
I loved this series. The writing was beautiful, and every episode felt like a piece of poetry. The level of talent was phenomenal. 💖💝💖💝
Perfect.
I was hoping you'd cover this series. TYSM
Excellent production! Tom Hollander deserves an Emmy ! ❤
This entire show felt like watching a fever dream. Definitely Emmys for costume, the guy who played Truman, and the writing.
Capote's story is appealing as no matter his brilliance, he was marginalized and could not rise above his status and insecurities. He self sabotaged himself.
I got the impression that the "fictional man" meeting with the swans and helping them to fulfill things (killing bad husband, letting go of anger, getting back too the wild side youth etc;) was the fictional part of Answered Prayers that he told Jack he was writing, when he had the pasta dinner with him and his friend. Hard to tell. I didn't;t enjoy the last episode that much. I watched it again, and picked up more I guess, but think the next to the last one, with scenes of Babe and Truman at the end of their lives (and their daydreams) was like the real last episode for me. oh! And you are right. Would have liked to seen a mature version of Kate Harrington.
The guy who talks to Kerry o'shea and who is sitting next to her at the auction is really cute. Loved this.
Anyone else feel like they were so busy trying to be clever that it ended up confusing? The flashbacks were during the same era so it was difficult to determine what was his memory, account from the book, or what was happening Shucks I don’t even know how to articulate my confusion.
Yes. I got confused at times. I liked the series, but I missed so much trying to to figure out what was said or meant.
I enjoyed it very much, I laughed, I cried, I downloaded the song “it’s impossible” lol
Loved the ending, but just wasn't historically accurate in respect to Lee Radziwill passing away in 2019 and in the series they pushed up her death to 2016. But I get the gist of what it was trying to accomplish.
What's wild is that I love the book Even Cowgirls Get The Blues by Tom Robbins and in the book, one of the characters makes an especially angry, vitriolic reference to Capote, calling him "bitchy" and when I first read the book, I didn't understand why. Now I kind of do!
This series was fantastic, I became somewhat obsessed in learning more about the actual people in it.
Since the swans remind me of The Real Housewives of New York and Beverly Hills, I’m surprised that they were surprised at society in 2016- I mean if their ghosts can attend an auction, can’t they keep up with Andy Cohen produced Bravo reality shows?
And Lee wasn’t even dead then.
Most Real Housewives would be gauche to The Swans. Kathy Hilton would maybe make it in but would have many shunnings on account of her disgraced daughter. Sutton would basically be Joanne Carson.
I think Bill Paley bought Capotes ashes, shat on them then flushed them down the toilet.
Bill Paley died in 1990, 26 years before the 2016 auction which was Joanne Carsons one year after her passing in 2015
Loved it!❤
I don't know how the book goes, but I wish there was a fair amount of screen time between Truman and the Swans. It was obvious that Ryan was absent from this project (for worse), as there was not enough camp and drama coming from the Swans. Still a good (but shockingly sad) season.
The abusive men in his life was disturbing I hated when that man was hitting him 😢
Allegedly. The show goes to great lengths to try make Capote a sympathetic character. To the point of inserting dream sequences of James Baldwin when those two were actually at odds. Or falsely accusing Slim of cheating with Babes husband to make her the real villain. Or omitting the overwhelming evidence that there WAS an intruder in Anne Haywards home that night and Truman was capitalising on misogyny and a traumatic event for a hook in his book.
Yeah but he was also verbally abusive to them and humiliated them when they refused to do what he wanted.
@@rqh173 yes I peeped that too it also showed his disdain for women like it was a competition anytime they wanted out he brought up women
Capote was messy, those stuck up women with black maids and servants , they all played themselves . Baldwin character could’ve been better, Baldwin would’ve read them all.
This was entertaining from start to finish. I would think that no one thought or expected it be absolute truth. Besides the ensemble of amazing actors, the set and costume
detail, and the camera work were also fantastic. For the sake of the show, the script, the audience, Murphy wasn’t more involved. IMO Nip/Tuck well written until the last season. American Horror Story was captivating but congested to start and only became more contrived as it went on, even without Murphy as a writer. Having said that, each season had a side storyline, character or performance that was worth watching. It seems to me that the more successful and in demand he became the weaker his projects became. Though he only directed the fired episode of the Versace Crime Story series, having lived in Miami Beach during the time, the series was done with an attention to detail that was spot on. The original Feud series also had several scenes and storylines that were fabricated. I’m old enough to remember these ladies names often being mentioned in magazines and I thought it fun to see some of our favorite actors create a “version” of them.
Hated the last episode. There was no need for any of it. Truman was a narcissist and what he did to his so called friends and the betrayal are absolutely inexcusable. What I find most disturbing is that he thought that they would just welcome him back with open arms. Typical narcissist thinking they can get away with anything. He may have been brilliant but he was totally screwed up.
I’m liking it so far
Everyone is so bitchy to each other … it’s also sad to see how far Capote got sick and lost in his later years
I thought the show was brilliant. The writing was beautiful and some of the performances unforgettable. I thought the penultimate episode, which showed Truman and Babe were actually soulmates, was especially poignant and powerful. And I adored the musical score. It was perfect!
BRILLIANT !!!!
@ThinkStory Can you plz cover "Constellation" on Apple TV+?
Bravo🎥🎭♥️💯
Everyone is a critic everyone is an expert on tv shows…but it all comes down to personal preference if it is good or not….this is how the world is nowadays….everyone trying to outdo each other to remain relevant.
No video yet about Dune Two???
I enjoyed the series and I still don’t feel bad for capote! The 1 person who truly loved him he played da most! Not only did he played the women his own relationship he punished! I kept thinking you can even enjoy your self with ya partner??? He was so mean to the man
I also would enjoyed if this was a movie instead of series
I enjoyed the series, but it took a weird turn for me halfway through episode 7 and completely through episode 8. It should've stuck to reality based story telling. It got too far out in woo woo land for my taste.
I'm curious about the Swans offspring, if there voicing their opinions about this program.
I loved it. That's all that's it.
a wonderufl show!
Those necks tho! Swan clone hybrids.
Ryan Murphy has a habit of taking liberties with reality and pushing the "gay" envelope. This Feud, to me, seems more of a cautionary tale of friendship and betrayal and consequences. The acting, dialogue & design details were top shelf. Episode 7 hit hard by making death look so beautiful. Still makes you wonder what "Answered Prayers" would have been & who owns Joanne Carson's half of Truman's ashes.
could you review SHOGUN? its a good show i think you would enjoy it :)
i think that truman capote was a known asshole. i didn’t even know that until i watched the movie in cold blood. it turned me off but when i heard about this show i watched a youtubers mini doc on this entire affair and it just confirms the characterization of him in the film. the problem with writers and artists in general is they “steal”; since they know how to wield the brush they are the ones who get to use others for inspiration and get all the accolades. be careful around artists !!
These women thoroughly enjoyed the gossip that he brought to them about others. They knew he was indiscrete, but it was the publication and monetizing of their lives that traumatized them. He used them as they used him. Perhaps they felt they had paid him through lavish gifts, dinners and vacations. Evidently, he felt he was due more.
Not sure what the point of this series is?
Please do Miller's Crossing. I watched that again recently, and it's got some much foretelling and Toms planning. Though I don't understand the significance of the ending with the hat (which is a cast member by itself).
Excellent movie. My favourite Coen Brothers movie I think
It's about legendary feuds. Season 1 feud was Joan Crawford and Beete Davis 😊
Season 2 was such a letdown compared to Bette vs. Joan.
Too much Capote being a drunken/high fool and too little of the swans.
The fact that they had all that female talent and wasted it is a damn shame. 😒
Bette vs. Joan --the best
I was only interested in his relationship with Babe the others seemed more hollow.
I enjoyed the series, but that last episode was the weakest. I did like when his mother and Ann teamed up. It’s so sad, that his ashes were sold. Even in death, he never had a home.
Torman capodi was a tragic figure. He was also a destructive one. Destructive , not only to himself because of his excessive drinking and drug use... But destructive to his friends. He encouraged these women to confide in him.Promising them, confidentiality and trust and in return. He kicked them all in the teeth. For fame and profit. I hope capodi is resting in peace... But I doubt it.
Capote took the G.B.F thing too far! 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
The trailers were actually better than the show 😂
This show is PURE fabrication…most of the story is COMPLETELY inaccurate and made up…I thought the series was TERRIBLE….
Capote was the very first power bottom.
Without a doubt, great casting and incredible acting. However, the inherent narcissism of the characters (even those fictionalized) makes me wonder why I (or we) glorify such personalities to such an extent that they feel compelled to make a mini-series about them. At least the way the characters in this production are portrayed, the only person with a shred of integrity was Jack Dunphy. Perhaps there are sides to Truman and the "swans" that couldn't be captured in 8 episodes, but I found myself cringing during each one and feeling relieved when it was over.
I'm glad you covered this. I only watched one episode and could go no further due to the poor Capote impression
Weak
I thought it truly was one of the most boring and preposterous productions I have ever seen. Most of it is completely inaccurate and thought up. Completely fabricated and completely UNINTERESTING…🤮
This season is a cautionary tale for all the gay writers in the world. 😅
I was really looking forward to it. But totally disappointed. It was a bust.
so even in death they wouldn't let truman hang out with them? Ghost Truman should have crashed the reunion
I was so disappointed ...could have been so fun and interesting ...it was so dark and depressing
This really fell apart as the episodes went on after la Cote Basque story came out. But superlative Tom Hollander
Capote was at best a good writer. Greatness eluded him, because he was a narcissist, which showed in his writing and lifestyle. The Swans sums it up.
The WORST of television!
1:26 the show would have been great if it wouldn't have been so woke. The whole episode with James Baldwin 🙄🙄🙄, he moved to France, not Dahomey, not cote d'ivoire, not Ghana; and he lectures truman about the evil white man. 🙄🙄
This show was not good because the overall writing was so poor and the idea for the series was terrible. The acting was stellar but unfortunately wasted on this script. Half of the entire series was dream/fantasy scenes that were made up, no basis in facts at all. The factual story would have been much more interesting. 👎🏻
I don't know where you get this
@@hua_tetsu_catit’s simple, from watching this badly written series 🤷🏻♂️
@@bherrin67 you just don't like the genre or you find the story with more conversations boring 🤷♂
@@hua_tetsu_catuhhh, no
I thought it was great…. Also Ryan Murphy was only a producer on this season 🤷♂️
One of the worst and totally inaccurate series ever made…🤮
The real life Swans look better than the actresses portraying them
We just have HD cameras today. Old timey cameras and lighting are very forgiving of lines, wrinkles, liverspots etc.
@@jakestroll6518Also most of these ladies will only let photogs release on the newspapers and magazines their best looking pics of course.
I thought the casting was great!
Dissapointing series. The trailer hyped this up to be a campy, fun, notorious fare just to be boring and slightly haphazard. Cast was great at least. But enough, enough jessica lange with playing the same character.
this AI generated crap is the worst. mistakes, errors and just total total crap.
I was quite disappointed for the fake memories of his drunken mind for theatrical effect and lost it's credibility in storytelling. The acting was good and then seemed so over-acting to be fake that they were fake and unbelievable. I think the cruelty between people who said they were friends showed the truth of how the elite really are towards people. But didn't think it was as good as it could had been, but what do I know, it's Hollywood.
Wasted potential, the show had a pacing, structure and tonal problems.
Ryan Murphy is a compulsive writer/producer.
Darlings, In Cold Blood ruined him .
