I’m a Native Hawaiian, but I feel a lot of pride for the 3% Māori I have in me. 🇳🇿🌺🤙❤️

I love being a maori ❤
Sometimes I seem to disregard how special New Zealand is, and how lucky I am to be Kiwi.
I’m from Egypt and this song makes me feel like a kiwi 😭😭❤️❤️
Starting the petition to make this New Zealand's official anthem
I’m a kiwi and this song is nz history
I am 70 still love this
Likewise
It ain’t a piss up until this comes on at 3:00am
Far out
I just watched Taika Waititi’s movie “Boy” and now this song is stuck in my head. This is so good!
2023 and watching from Arizona USA.. I miss New Zealand!! 🥹❤️❤️
Both excellent places....stuck in dreary eerie SE England
Kuki ethnically but born n raised in Aotearoa, when ever this song turns on makes me feel pakari, makes me feel proud to be a KIWI
As a Scotsman who lived in NZ for a while, this song burts very happy heart tears in my eyes every time! Right up from my tummy and chest.
I remember being a little kid and cleaning the house while my mum played this on the speaker, such memories
For any strangers to our culture, Poi is a piece of performing art equipment shaped in a ball with a string, used for dances and ceremonies.
For any strangers to our culture a ram-raid is when we steal a car and ram it into a store, jump out and run into the store and steal what we can.
Anyone who attended a rural NZ school knows this song off by heart lol
Never an original experience
I used to listen to this song while I lived in the South pacific as a teenager from the US and while in the car with my Mother. I heard it just now again the first time since then. It brought good memories but with tears. RIP my beautiful, dear Mom. I miss you so much.
As a Kiwi who has lived away from New Zealand 🇳🇿 for decades I looked up this song and I kinda teared up. This song encapsulates my country.
My heart goes out you
Kia kaha bro
shut up
Dude I didn’t even read your comment before I wrote one. Exactly the same in sentiment and living abroad.
Kiwi in Aus had this on for the last few days
Love it! I wish i could be Kiwi…
This is how to promote culture bring something beautiful that's not forced.
This is a good song for peps in nz we love it it’s a classic
Original is the real. Back when everyone was the same. No bs just music.
All Kiwis, stand with pride for this song. It's musically explosive, and it lets the other buggers a peek under our curtains. Imagine what they see in 2023! I love being an import! :)

Came here from the movie “Boy” can’t stop listening to it!
our real national anthem
agreed
I love this so much. Brings tears to my eyes, happy ones.
Thanks for the HD version. The song and the club deserve a good looking version of the original video.
This is nz. Something absolutely awesome it's a great song and is relative to the place and time. If I go back as I do I choose this is all of us.
I can’t believe I actually managed to find this song after all these years. The last and only time I ever saw/heard this being performed was on the Royal Variety Performance during the 80’s in the UK when I was a kid and totally fell in love with it. I also did a project about the Māoris in secondary school, fascinating people. Greetings and love from Portugal! ❤️

No remake it's brilliance is there for all to see.
From Japan. This appeared in recommended videos.
And this is the first to listen. I like this very much.
I love NZ. I wish I could be a kiwi. :)

@@rzkibruv Hi, THK for your reply. I truly love NZ. :) I've been to NZ twice. And I think it's the best country to live.
Literally my favourite song ever. If Vecna tries to capture me just play this song. Being a Kiwi it just brings back great memories from my childhood. 😊
Everyone must subscribe to this person
2023 and watching this from Korea. I'm Belgian and in love with cultural performances from all countries over the world. Keep these Maori dances and song fresh. They are so precious and give me so much wonder and joy when I watch them.
@MountainWomen Nga mihi nui ki a koe❤🖤❤️
how beautiful of you to say e hoa!
I am watching this song living in New Zealand as a korean and it seems this song represents NZ identity the most.
That comment made me miss home terribly. 🥺
My uncle is featured in this video!!
Which one?
I get fleshbacks of Boy. And throwing rocks at my friend’s window. as soon as I got to New Zealand.😂 It was 7 in the morning there so I ran down the street. Exploring the culture of New Zealand..

It is both funny and poignant at the same time. It summed us all up and we all got on board with the spirit. Shame we have lost that.
2022 still loving ❤ this
This song brings me to tears... I know it is a happy song but it reminds me of my Maori friends when we lived in New Plymouth. This song will be played a my funeral. So everyone can be happy for a few minutes...
god bless

It’s 2024 and I’m still watching

I LOVEd my journey as a mother to 2 CHILDREN A Boy A Daughter
First time I heard this sing was in 2008 the year I came to NZ. Saw this late at night in Juice TV
Man this made me tear up a little, thinking of the “ready to roll” nz music charts and us kids would be so sick of a no. 1 being played for months. This and Michael Jackson was forever. But now, I think it’s a beautiful song that captured the spirit of everyday kiwis perfectly in film and music.
I found this song because of the movie Boy. Tailka Waittiti did a Michael Jackson version of it at the end.
That wee boy that looks so fierce reminds me of the kids I went to school with. Awesome lil dude.
01:12 Is that a young Taika Waititi? 😂
they are the kids i went to school with 😂
@@Toob41 LMAOOO WHY DO I KIND OF SEE IT😭

This is such a beautiful video to be able to watch. Just watching the young kids enjoying the song and taking part inthe song they are so cute. It is great to see and hear amazing Maori song and the dance. Maori peoples have a great way of making their music sound so happy. Thank you for this fantastic video.
I'm an Aboriginal but I love this song ✊
I just saw a performance of this last night at Christmas in the Park concert in Auckland with 100,000 people in the crowd.
Never been so proud of New Zealand /Aotearoa. I have family in Patea where this was made.
What a joy to read the positive comments from around the world.❤

Я из России, и мне нравится эта песня!
I just heard this song for the first time tonight, thanks to a shortened down episode of 'Rage' on the TV channel ABC Me - playing Australian and New Zealand music for ANZAC Day.
I found it to be quite catchy.
Absolutely great sound!
I love sooo much 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Oh my goodness 🥰. Life is a pain in the butt these days. Then all of a sudden someone puts a beautiful iconic memory on Facebook and there you go 😂. Tears of joy and a sense of peace as it was back then💖🥰💖. Thanks Patea Maori Club 💖.

The Maori are probably the only reason I will wanna go to NZ
It's the original that I'm interested in. Everything is a remake of a remake. This song is beautiful and interesting at the same time. I love the music I didn't appreciate the guy doing his Michael Jackson. The music was awesome that's why I keep coming back.
