Sometimes when they don’t expect you to speak Khmer and when you do they’re laughing because they’re surprised. That’s what I think! It’s all good though 😊

It is more of surprise and at the same time admire. In a western world laugh could be use for mocking in Cambodia laughing mostly it’s a friendly gesture.

Interesting walk about. Love seeing village life. In the villages, no matter how untidy someones garden/land is, to me it always looks far nicer than western city living (in my opinion 😊)

Good walkabout franc,I can see how much you are enjoying Cambodia, and learning about khmer culture.
After 3 years there, still miss the place and especially the people.

That painting of the buddha achieving enlightenment under the bodhi tree was beautiful. Such a humble place with yet such effort expended is so impressive. Excellent cataloguing

That little looking pagoda is the local area meeting place, usually the laughs will be more a surprised laugh because you tried to speak khmer. Places like Puok they don't get many tourists if any so Thanks for showing other parts of the country unseen but most 👍😁🇳🇿

Khmer' funeral mourning from day one to seven days, then 100 days after the death, more like celebration n best wishes, but yearly or two years five or ten years remembering are optional funeral depend on what oeople can afford the cost.
Battambang City is known for Cambodian second biggest city, I'm surprised that the Puok man said it smaller than Siem Reap. Battambang people are known for clearest Khmer Language speaking, most of the radio stations through out Cambodia hired them for proper Khmer accent, as for the real Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey provinces they have very strong accent like the difference between England Scotland, anyway loved your video ❤

The reason she was laughing, maybe she was impressed that you know how to speak Khmer. I don't think you look funny or any different than other people. You seem so sensitive. Just a thought, may be the boy just want to play or talk to you. It did happen to me when I went to countryside and the kid never see many outsiders enough. I speak the language the kids crowded me. It is a culture thing. If they don't like you, they don't talk with you.
