- Naihanchi Shodan is the first kata we learn in Taika Seiyu Oyata's art of RyuTe and variations of this kata are found all across karate. In this video, I break down the basic version of the kata step-by-step. Our students can use this as a reference for training as can anyone interested in seeking different source material for their own understanding.

That timing version of that kata was absolutely impressive. Well done!
Thank you! 🙏
As a jujutsuka I use this kata as part of my training, it's bunkai is effective and efficient
I've loved it. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing!
I always loved going to my classes, but with my health issues I only got to Ni Kyu .. some of the katas I can’t think of, but I never forgot my basics. That’s kinda weird but it’s been about 14 years since I have gone. My instructor is Bill McGee in Hoopeston Illinois. The last time I heard, he was promoted to 9th Dan and his wife is either 5th or 6th..
Not the way I have learn this kata, however, your attention to detail is spot on, thank you.
Different styles of Nihanshi
🌹🌹🌹thank u master
Slightly different. We were Shorinkan until Sid Campbell broke away. But it's fundamentally the same. And we call it Naihanchi ichi-dan or number one
Very well done Kevin, enjoy watching. I believe Taika would be proud of you. Continued success .
Thank you very much!
By the way this is Vernon.
That means a lot coming from you sir!
Truthfully Awesome 🔥
I can see so many grappling with strikes bunkai in this style of nihanshi kata
Motobu choki considered Nihanshi to be not just a kata within a style of karate but a style of karate all of its own
In general terms we karate people do tend to underestimate the importance of Nihanshi ..
Nice, I like this kata. We don't have it our style, and I've wanted to learn it.
Yours is the best teaching video I've seen for it.
Thankyou
Osu!
