  • Today I am going to be reviewing the AK Basic Line Airbrush. Is it a good airbrush or just an overpriced AK knock off?

The real question is if this is comparable to Gunze Mr. Procon Boy (PS-270) that you can get on Amazon for about 90USD and can use for both detail work/spraying large surfaces.

Try polishing the needle with compound. It really improves the performance of these chinese airbrushes. Replacing some of the o-rings also helps.

True. Also, you can remove the nozzle O-ring and seal the thread with beeswax. But, on this video, two things can (and maybe are!) wrong; first, the thinning of the paint judging by the result of the spray compared to what seems to me to be higher air pressure (depends on how far away the microphone is!). Each decent airbrush (even those AB worth less than a tube of lubricant or cheapest spare parts for Iwata, H&S, Hansa Aerograph Super 63, etc.) has its "sweet spot" areas where it gives the best results and which can be discovered ONLY WITH PRACTICE, from the type of paint, paint density and air pressure in relation to the construction (bottom, side, gravity). In this Badger 350 video, the average airbrush user would have better results, as the demonstrator/video maker with this airbrush, paint density and air pressure did not hit any of the "sweet spot" in all three areas (paint type and density, air pressure and nozzle diameter).

True. The air pressure from this valve was drastically different than my sotar. I am sure I could fine tune the paint more and polish the needles or I can go back to the airbrushes I have that perform well. Thanks for your comment

I am using the AK as my primary airbrush. In my country, it sells fairly cheap, so, if it's crap (and I think its not), you can just go purchase another one

The point is AK is thought to sell quality, having to buy a different one does not say much for AK

I hate that iwata style trigger. Pain to put it back and it gets stuck sometimes. H&S have a much better idea.
