- This is one of the best discussion from a teammate about Ken Anderson we have ever seen - This is a very special video. To hear the passion and frustration in Bobs voice talking about why Ken should be in the ProFootball Hall of Fame will give you chills. ESPECIALLY that ending when Bob looks into the camera and says.......

Ken Anderson should be in the hall of fame!
Still has that Golden Voice.
Bob Trumpy and Crique were my favorite NBC Broadcasters of the 1980s
There are compilation videos out there on Ken Anderson. But one thing I detected on balls thrown over 40 yards. Look for how high he throws the ball and how tight the spiral is. Never seen a qb throw it so high and not all of these were end zone throws. The height of the pass hitting Collinsworth on the run was unbelievable. He is totally HOF worthy. Thanks Trumpy for the heartfelt stories about Ken and your team. Your pretty damm good yourself and an outstanding announcer. Thank you Sir!
true icon best Broadcasting voice
I was interviewed by Ken Anderson on the radio my senior year in high school, we where in the state playoffs. He was great the two things was how big he was and he had huge hands. We shook hands and his swallowed mine hand. He should be in the HOF he was also tough as nails.
great interview- KA belongs in HOF
He should still do games
For those who hold Ken Anderson's less-than-eye popping post-season win total against him, it's of interest to note that without at least a Top-3 Scoring Defense behind them, neither Bob Griese nor Fran Tarkenton ever won a single playoff game. Ken Anderson never had a Top-3 Scoring Defense behind him.
In other words, when given the same level of defensive support, Ken Anderson won more post-season games than either Griese or Tarkenton.
Griese and Tarkenton are HOF quarterbacks. Ken Anderson was better by far than Griese, and just as good as Tarkenton.
Add Steve Young in there as well...take away the 94 season and he had a losing record in the playoffs as a starter. And look at how much talent he had around him during that time..
Nothing short of amazing. Thank you for this!
that explains a lot! the opener in 81.
Grew up as a Steelers fan, still am. I always hated when they played the Bengals because of one player...Kenny Anderson.
I know personally that Issac Curtis thought the world of Kenny Anderson. They would eventually go into business together. He obviously was a quarterback who had no problems with athletes of other races or ethnicities.
I have yet to meet him, but Bob is my 3rd cousin. Was such a beast in his prime
I am, and was then, a BRONCOS fan, but it is insane to me that KEN ANDERSON has his yardage in an entirely different game-era, held up as inferior to qbs in the last 25 years.
What a joke..
HE IS A HALL OF FAMER..
He completed deep and short passes and hit 60 percent a few times during seasons in his career when no one was doing that, and won in a rushing era.
PUT HIM IN THE HALL.
Ken Anderson had equal, if not superior, numbers in every statistical category to every HOF contemporary of his (Tarkenton, Namath, Griese Bradshaw, Staubach, Stabler & Fouts), while doing so with FAR less HOF-caliber help on his team, a worse rushing attack, poorer defensive support, worse pass protection than his counterparts enjoyed, all while playing the dynastic Steelers 3-4 times more than any of them, most seasons without the benefit of a Hall of Fame head coach.
The fact that Joe Namath is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Ken Anderson isn't is terrible.
There was 1 reason that the Bengals didn't win a Super Bowl I Kenny's day, they had to go through the Pittsburgh Steelers to get there.
Same with the Cleveland Cavs having to go through the Chicago Bulls in the 80's.
Anderson played basketball. And Anderson probably saw himself as a point guard, which isn't an ego centric position.
I'm not even a Bengal superfan ( Go Panthers) and i know Ken belongs in the HOF. No off-field issues (IIRC) and he remained an asst. coach for many years. His early RBs were.....,until injuries hit, decent, but the OSU running backs they had later just flashed briefly. Gen. had good pass receivers. Doesn't make sense.
Seriously, how are Ken Anderson and Issac Curtis NOT in the Hall of Fame? Not their fault the dynasty Steelers were in the same division.
The reason Anderson is NOT in the HoF is that he threw FIVE INTs combined in his last two post season games.
