I think you are right. In one of the clips in this video Violet mentions that Spratt is frequently away to "help relatives" and Violet already puts up with that. If Violet wanted to replace Spratt she would have hired Molsley.
@@saladspinner3200 I don’t remember who was Violet’s butler, but Mosley was originally Matthew’s and his mom’s butler. Mosley had to be let go after Matthew’s death, the scenes when he argued with Carson about a lower position which he didn’t accept.
Same! I could’ve watched it forever!! I didn’t discover it until around August of 2021 and I was instantly addicted. I refused to look ahead at how many seasons there were because I was so dreading the end, I didn’t even want to know when it was coming🙈🙈 Such an amazing show. It gave me more insight into that time period and the changes made by the war than anything I learned from kindergarten-grad school!

I love Downton Abbey, but the level of nosiness in this show got me shouting “mind your f-ing business” each time a character is inquiring about a letter they are reading or being accused of keeping secrets.
Two absolutely great actors that I feel are overlooked at times for their wonderful contributions to the show.

Actually no, Spratt was a recent addition to the staff as Mosley was the original butler of the Dowager!
