I can't imagine how exciting it would be to hear the opening bars of this song live, particularly if it wasn't expected. Gives me chills watching it. I fucking love this song.
Holy shit, Maynard nailed that ending perfectly. I am blown away by how much our technology has increased since 2006, when you could BARELY hear him over the instruments as we all tried to record them with our flip phones or smuggled in camcorders. I still remember the garbage audio clips we have from like 1994, but man, how you managed to get such great audio and video, and not get caught, you're a hero.
I love this song so much!!! I feel that! We didn't get this in Moline either. But we got right in two in Moline (with no visuals!!! They weren't working during that song) and Chicago got undertow. Pretty sweet still.
I love how MJK adapted his vocal parts in this! Coming through especially well in the last verse/chorus. That's an example of working around your limitations to a great effect
i heard this song live in houston in 2022. i always felt like there was something different about his voice on this particular song during this tour. i love it. it's mystical.
Spot on dude! Saw them when the wernt 500 a ticket in Harford CT. Back when moshing and slam dancing were a thing. First and only band I ever saw that everyone stopped moshing the first 5 minutes into the concert and actually listened. Best show ever!
@@autiger96 I was wondering that myself.....would I be able to stay completely still at a Tool experience?......not unless I was highly meditated & mushroomed. Even then, I have a hell of a time keeping still just listening to them live like this.
Haha ya, It’s impossible to keep your head still. Those videos are me actually kinda trying as well. There’s no stabilization built into the camera on those glasses either.

i was in complete awe when i heard it. and exactly like you said, i didnt ever to expect to hear this song live, and was blown away.
Me and my buddy were going bonkers when it came on. They played eon blue apocalypse before and we both said “no way the patient is next”

This is my all time favorite Tool song. Thank you so much for the recording, they didn’t perform this in Chicago and I was so sad!
My favorite also. They didn’t play it in Cleveland. I’m grateful there’s plenty of versions of “The Patient” to be enjoyed. Who couldn’t love Tool?

You get to get to experience it vicariously through this video lol
Not my favorite, albeit great! They played it in London though :)
Ditto. They did not perform it in Paris.
I legit shed a few tears when i heard them play this last year. My all time favorite song that has gotten me through life.
The fact u spent several hundred then filmed it against Maynard rules, and got great quality for us that couldn’t make it……. Ur the fing man bro.
First concert ever/ Best concert ever

7:47 Whoever witnessed this beauty is lucky. Maynard’s utter vocal perfection.
I've been going to TOOL shows for over 30 years, and I've never been disappointed. Every concert is a revelation!
They know about those "Glasses"- and played better than ever!

Cheers!
Tool is absolutely amazing! They take every song as far as it can possibly go.
This song gives me chills every time I listen to it. Impossible to not move to this song. Great audio quality btw.
I do have thrills all over my body, just with the intro 👌
Amazing audio quality, and this song is so transcendental.... holy shit
Keep'em Coming... They sound great

Live sound and light show seems to have been perfected!!
Sincerely thank you for uploading this and so much more of Tool. Gonna see them in Europe next Saturday, can’t wait! ;)
All I can say is thanks man. Three shows this year and I didn't get it. Did get it in Memphis, Jan 31 2020.

But when you shake the camera at the peak parts of the song is awesome because you are definitely feeling the music

I prefernthe May 2006 version at Gammage in Tempe Az.

Cool

7:10 Adam
oof'
why you shaking the camera around...
Says it in title he's using spy glasses, so it's his head moving
Yeah not sure how you keep your head still at a Tool Concert
Shake your phone with him, I did, it's pretty cool that way.
