    By Robert Sheldon
    Item: 00-29477
    Series: Alfred Concert Band
    Category: Concert Band
    Format: Conductor Score & Parts
    Level: 4 (Medium Difficult)
    "Flight of the Piasa" was written to depict the majesty of the legendary Piasa, an enormous winged creature, and the bravery of the Illini tribe who triumphed over its reign of terror. The discovery of the Piasa dates to 1673, when the cliff drawing painted high on the bluffs was first seen by Marquette during his famous journey down the Mississippi River. (5:10) This title is available in SmartMusic.
    "'Flight of the Piasa' is a very effective piece of music that is superbly crafted by a composer who really does understand the limitations and playing capabilities of student musicians."

    As a flute player, who have to play this in school orchestra next year, I want to share my last words:
    Well, it wasn't easy, but I always loved the orchestra and the flute very much. This piece is so incredibly beautiful, but I'm afraid my fingers will die. ✌️🥲

    3:54 BEST PART I saw this played in person by my high school band (Im not there yet) I fell in love with just how God damn loud the French horns got it was amazing I wish I could relive that moment because it sounded way better in person.

      woodwinds are hard, but I'm at the percussion. I think it's a mess hahaha because I have only 2 friends and me. Myfriends hit the snare drum and the other hit the bass drum, and the rest I had to hit it alone. When someone recorded a clip So I asked to see, me was very funny,haha I ran and rannnn

      @maximilianbeiel6812 Před 4 lety +8

      @@FloppityFloppify the model of a wind orchestra still is a classical symphonic orchestra....just woodwinds replacing the strings....but without such a big tonal spectrum and homogenous sound as a string section features. Thats the reason why they mostly play runs when harmonic information (mostly trombones,tuba,trumpet - signals -) and melody (horns) are already given. :)
