First New Years without my dad, and it still hasn’t sunk in yet. Cherish those around you, as you’ll never know when it could be their last. Happy New Years to you, your family, and all those who aren’t lucky enough to be with us today. 👼 🙏🏻
My mother who passed away 16 years ago was my first thought when the clock struck midnight tonight. Not the usual thing that comes to mind but i had a little tear in my eye and some warm wholesome memories. Just how i'd like every New Year to begin from this year forward. How they would want it to be. Happy New Year!

I'm seriously considering learning to play the bagpipes just so that I can on special occasions go into the hills and play this song whilst thinking about my ancestral land. A single tear rolling down my chin as I play my heart out. Local children will hear legends of me; their mothers will say that when they can hear the hills singing, it is old TurtleMarcus on the bagpipes, longing for ages past. On the local pubs, men will cheer and drink a pint, when they hear the pipes in the distance. And then they'll tell stories and have a good time. One day, the pipes will become silent. And ol' TurtleMarcus will be gone. Then they'll realise that his tears were of joy, and not of sorrow. And who knows? Keep listening for the pipes. If you're lucky, on a quiet morning, you might just hear ol' TurtleMarcus, or so the legend says. Maybe someone took on his mantle and keep playing. Keep listening, children, and never forget the good times.
Ever seen the episode of the crown? The scene with former king Eduard 8 during the coronation of the queen and him watching it in his mansion in Paris and was mocking it to his friends only to later be seen playing the bagpipes alone and crying.

Today, one of my old school friends has departed in his final journey and I wanted to sing this song out loud. It made me feel very sad but also honouring him. Thanks to all Scotland'sons for creating such a wonderful song. Best wishes for all of you.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Magnificent, heart-warming, beautiful!!! Auld Lang Syne is arguably one of Scotland's great love gift to the world!!! This rendering with the depiction of the highlands captures the power of this music excellently. Bravo!!!

When life looks black as the hour of night A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺 When money's tight and hard to get And your horse has also ran. When all you've left is an heap of debt A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺 When food is scarce and your larder bare And no rashers grease your pan When hunger grows as your meals are rare A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺 When health is bad and your heart feels strange And your face is pale and wan When doctors say that you need a change A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺 In time of trouble and lousy strife You've still got a darlint plan You still can turn to a brighter life A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺 (A pint of plain meant plain porter... a milder version of stout porter like Guinness)

"Auld Lang Syne" (Scots pronunciation: [ˈɔːl(d) lɑŋˈsəin]: note "s" rather than "z") is a popular song, particularly in the English-speaking world. Traditionally it is sung to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve. By extension, it is also often heard at funerals, graduations, and as a farewell or ending to other occasions; for instance many branches of the Scouting movement use it to close jamborees and other functions. The text is a Scots-language poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 but based on an older Scottish folk song. In 1799, it was set to a traditional tune, which has since become standard. "Auld Lang Syne" is listed as numbers 6294 and 13892 in the Roud Folk Song Index. The poem's Scots title may be translated into standard English as "old long since" or, less literally, "long long ago", "days gone by", or "old times". Consequently, "For auld lang syne", as it appears in the first line of the chorus, might be loosely translated as "for the sake of old times". The phrase "Auld Lang Syne" is also used in similar poems by Robert Ayton (1570-1638), Allan Ramsay (1686-1757), and James Watson (1711), as well as older folk songs predating Burns. Matthew Fitt uses the phrase "in the days of auld lang syne" as the equivalent of "once upon a time" in his retelling of fairy tales in the Scots language.
From New England, Happy New Year. May '24 lead to better days, and illuminate the path to a brighter future. May your walk upon it be safe and full of adventure. Peace be with you, and yours. Much love, always, ~EV

If you love Scotland, let them have their freedom! They are not in the UK out of their own volition, they were forced into it, and still held back against their will, according to the last election and how they voted to remain in the EU
@@jay23cr I one hundred percent agree with you. Scotland should be indepent. It would be sad to lose the historic Great Britain, but Scotland is too culturally different.

Nice of you!
I’m definitely sure that listening to Auld Lang Syne could be a priceless gift from God with the feelings as honest as children 💕

I'm a 60 years old man who lives in Chile, in the south of America and the world. I studied in a school founded by Mr. Peter Mackay an Mr. George Robertson, and we learnt this song in our child's years, not only to be sing at New Year's Eve but also to sing it every time one of our friends leaved the School.
Today, one of my old school friends has departed in his final journey and I wanted to sing this song out loud. It made me feel very sad but also honouring him.
Thanks to all Scotland'sons for creating such a wonderful song.
Best wishes for all of you.
JOTA1519 Nothing but respect, my friend.

When things go wrong, but will not go right
Though you do the best you can.
When life looks black as the hour of night
A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺
When money's tight and hard to get
And your horse has also ran.
When all you've left is an heap of debt
A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺
When food is scarce and your larder bare
And no rashers grease your pan
When hunger grows as your meals are rare
A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺
When health is bad and your heart feels strange
And your face is pale and wan
When doctors say that you need a change
A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺
In time of trouble and lousy strife
You've still got a darlint plan
You still can turn to a brighter life
A pint of plain is your only man! 🍺
(A pint of plain meant plain porter... a milder version of stout porter like Guinness)
Here's to 2020, good luck all on your future endeavours, cheers.

Matthew Fitt uses the phrase "in the days of auld lang syne" as the equivalent of "once upon a time" in his retelling of fairy tales in the Scots language.
ok. Happy New Year, anyway. And I AM Scottish, btw

It might be a blessing from God with the feelings as honest as children that “ listening to Auld Lang Syne ” leads me to feel that my soul has been purified.
Greeting from Hong Kong. Hong Kong the Brave. Fight for Democracy in HK. Amen.
how is it so far?
Tyler Reifers Many youngsters were hurt and arrested by brutal police (popo). These young people are very brave, they fight against the dictatorship and for our freedom of speech and assembly. On 31 August 2019, The police rush into the train at Prince Edward Station of our underground railway to attack the ordinary people. It’s illegal and we can call it a “terrorist attack”. Before 1997, HK is a place of freedom, but now the deterioration of human rights.
