it looks so realistic, the only reason I noticed it was a video game was the lack of rain in this UK themed city, not a single drop the entire video 😂

You swapped out your estate roads to get pathways but there is a mod that allows you to take out those vanilla streetlights and replace them some UK ones, I use this all the time, I think its the CSUR mod (?) - in the UK we have a hierarchy for streetlights, smaller ones on estates and access roads, medium ones for some distribution roads, and the tallest ones are used on major routes. You can see an example of a smaller streetlight where you placed your fire/police stations. They will look great on your estate roads.
Adaptive Netowrks does soemthing similar! I use it with the picker mod, but it does remember what you chose I think
A new city.... how about the city I grew up in... Milton Teaynes? :) I even helped build the famous concrete cows as a kid.
Don't get too used to the ease of using straight grid-like streets Biff, in the UK there's more roundness and randomness. HIGGLDY PIGGLDY. Glad to see the UK city build back though ;)
I’m so happy we’ve got a new British themed city. Shame about Blightea but onwards and upwards.
Hi Biffa as a fellow brit I'm loving this new British themed city, I also build British themed cities and have found thousands of assets that work well in my cities, but some you may like are the Victorian style houses there are hundreds of different types and I'm sure you will find some that will fit nicely into your own build, there's also an asset called London Residential by Mntoes, they are Georgian town houses and look really nice in rows and they have gardens already with them, anyway looking forward to how the city develops over time.
Loving this so far Biffa, think you need an ASDA/TESCO or something similar now, also how about a cricket pitch in a park area? 😊😊

I was born in a rowhousing street just like what is in this city. I do remember there being breaks in the rowhouses (with little pockets of green with playgrounds, parks and/or extra parking) staggered from each other in every street.This might not be a thing in the UK, I don't know. But if so, I could perhaps look good as well in this game?
Don't forget the odd small block of flats dotted here and there among the normal houses

Soooo Glad you’re playing cs1 again! A month before cs2 was announced I finally made my self afford the cs1-game, and loved it! It felt like a punch in the stomach when cs2 was announced and I was left alone being the only one still playing cs1, I also decided to get the dlc’s one by one but since the announcement I haven’t bought any dlc’s.
You make the fire inside me burn again with this videos making me want to continue plays cs1.
To be completely honest I watched every video about cities skylines that you released, but the cs2-videos I almost haven’t watch a single one :( sorry for that ❤️

If you’re still taking name suggestions, how about Teachester? Those lovely stone terraces might need a red brick counterpart to get the Manchester feel to match the name though!

Those things you called ticket machines on the Japanese parking lot are two of the famous and ubiquitous Japanese vending machines. Both for drinks from the look of them with the left one probably also having hot drinks.
The rowhouses could probably do with their own elementary school and a better walking option to the high school.

It makes a big difference, picking local service vehicles. I don't have a lot of custom building assets, but I've got a lot of NZ vehicles... police, fire, ambulance in particular, but also assorted delivery vehicles.

Now, I'd like to suggest dropping the Realistic Populations mod, as it doesn't play well with the vanilla milestone progression while it doesn't really add anything to the city.

Really enjoyed CS1 new builds lately! I found they are more enjoyable 👀... The terrace estates are such an incredible addition! Looking forward for the new expansion of the city! Great video Biffa! 😊
Ahhh…. I was missing this old good CS1 videos from Biffa… don’t get me wrong, I am one of the (few) ones believing CS2 has got great potential but it just needs more time and effort to be put by Paradox and the community (just think on how CS1 was back in 2015).
I feel it will take years to get to a position where you could compare them fairly, so until then I think both games would need to coexist somehow….
This is the bad side of creating such a good platform like CS1; the expectations were really high (and unrealistic if you think about it)

A name for the city that i like is Evenburgh. No idea why but I like it!
I think the game is not counting that road as a tree road, so you will not be able to update it even when you have vanilla tree roads. BOB may help on this issue.
Btw, when I watch your CS1 series, I really miss playing it, but I am lazy enough not to arrange my mods, and I don't want to play vanilla 😂
Feels like there should be alleys and walking paths between the back of the terraces rather than roads. They're very long too - although you do get roads like that in the UK, there would normally be one or 2 cut throughs, again for walking access rather than vehicle.
Still looking forward to how this city turns out. I love the classic British themes. I miss the hard-core detailing videos in CS1.
A name which might be rather apt, considering the current state of the UK, could be 'Teatring on the Edge'

Lol tree suggestions from my Sussex based childhood there. I grew up on a street lined with flowering cherries & we had a silver birch & an acer in the back garden. The other plant that always makes me think of home is aubretia under the hedges and spilling out onto the pavement. That would be a gorgeous asset!
Something felt really off. Then I set the screen colour to black and white, then added a bit of red to emphasise the brick buildings and buses. Also started a wind ASMR video in the background. Chef's kiss👌
Can you do something to discourage people from driving down the back allys? Maybe set the speed limit to 1 or something?
Down here there'd be a few allys going from the road to the back ally in that length of road.
I'd have just made them footpaths (once available) instead of roads. They look the part - nice and narrow - and will have people using them, but cars will stay away.

I'm still playing CS1. But I can't get the game set up so that the city is as realistic as yours was after you worked on it over the weekend. I play on a 1440p 144Hz monitor with RX6750xt and R9 3900x so I don't think the hardware is the problem. Can you walk through how you combine the mods to get the realistic look you had in the last part of this video.
From memory, you're playing with Realistic Population again, right? My experience of that is that hand-placing denser buildings like the row-homes is critical with that mod... otherwise, it's very difficult to get the population high enough to unlock the squares needed to increase population. The vanilla game has only a few small low-density two-family residences, so I ended up spamming a lot of those to get mid-density areas.
Would love to see all the lane turning markings disappear from all the side streets, if possible!

Might have been mentioned already… But any gaps in between the houses, could be explained as being gaps leftover from bombings during the second world war. That seems very typical in some parts of Britain. Or even areas for allotments
