it just isn't a classical concert performance without people coughing while the music is playing.

Portentosa obra de Ligeti para demostrar en donde está la vanguardia en la música.

When I first saw "2001:A Space Odyssey" in a Cinerama theatre, this piece was heard as the overture through the closed curtains. I recognized it immediately since I had a recording of "Atmospheres" conducted by Leonard Bernstein in my collection for about eight years prior. I like this work and several others by Ligeti. Portions of his "Lontano for Orchestra" was used by Kubrick in "The Shining" along with music by other contemporary composers such as Bela Bartok.

Bartók is not a contemporary composer and, certainly, not a Ligeti’s contemporary

When the score causes ringing in my ears that resonates with the inescapable ringing in my ears, I'm simultaneously relieved and distressed. 7:30.

I became nauseated, and my breast hurt. I thought to listen having read a research paper Exposure to Music Alters Cell Viability and Cell Motility of Human Nonauditory Cells in Culture, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4960344/which I came to, while wondering if musical tones might alter the viability of Covid 19. no no no.By the way, if you open your mouth widely, and move it, does your tinnitus change or stop? Mine does. But I can't keep doing that without creating another problem.

@@jakeornot6306 Well, I have discovered that standing on my left leg with my right toes behind my left knee, which must be bent halfway in a squat, whilst holding my left elbow next to the crown of my skull and my right forefinger (or pinky) in my right ear seems to work. It makes my dinner guests squeamish, but I tell them that the pose must be nude, or else the 5g network can hear my dreams.

Hard to believe this was premiered in 1961. Bernstein and Abbado both recorded it. Stanley Kubrick used it twice in "2001: A Space Odyssey". First for the overture played behind the closed curtains for the Cinerama presentation which had great effect. Then again for the split image light sequence near the end of the film. I believe that this and other works by Ligeti were an influence on the minimalist composers, Adams, Glass and Reich, et. al. although Steve Reich is often credited (or blamed) for starting off the minimalist movement.

You can tell by watching the player that that last really high note on the piccolo was a challenge. But she nailed it. 3:45
