    I just got my lithops seeds & plants delivered yesterday! They are absolutely gorgeous! I've never been able to find anything other than the plain gray lithops locally, so receiving these beautifully colored lithops with bright markings are just incredible! I can't wait to receive my supplies so I can start growing all of the seeds

    Nice video... I have found that coffee filters cut in squares work well to cover the holes in pots. A nail with a large head works great for a dauber if you want to tamp the soil down around the plants.

      Thanks for the feedback!! We often use coffee filters for our larger bulb size pots. The nail idea is a great idea!! We want this to be a place where we all share ideas about how we grow our plants and learn from each other! This is so helpful!

    I would love to see a video for new Lithops owners, showing them exactly what to do when they receive Lithops in the mail from Mesa Garden. There are so many videos out there telling people conflicting things such as "trim the roots" and "don't trim the roots". Or "pot depth needs to be a minimum of 4 inches" vs "pot depth only needs to be 2 inches". And "water right after potting" vs "don't water right after potting".

    • @mesagarden2285
      @mesagarden2285  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for the suggestion! When we get back to making more videos we can focus on your idea. I think it would be a great video to help people.

    Bought seeds and plants from MG for many years but not since Steven Brack owned it. I'm so happy you guys are keeping it going! I love the videos. What are you feeding your mesembs and how often?

    • @aaronmorerod973
      @aaronmorerod973 Před 3 lety +1

      We use the Peter’s brand 20-20-20 water soluble fertilizer and add some ammonium sulfate and vinegar. We put one cup of the Peter’s, half a cup ammonium sulfate, and 4 cups vinegar in a 5 gallon pail and fill the rest with water. We water with a brass syphon mixer attached to the hose at a rate of 1 to 16. So it’s a very diluted mixture. We water our cacti and mesembs with this every time we water. We water the mesembs more in the fall and winter and spring months about once a week.

      @@aaronmorerod973 thank you! I've wondered why my mesembs do ok but don't seem to thrive like yours! I've read you DON'T feed feed them more than once or twice right before the growing period. Now I know why mine don't thrive!

    I received my first lithops 2 weeks ago, I repotted and now under a grow light. Going on vacation and for safety no grow light. Will they be okay? I can place in a bright area with no direct sun?

      They will be fine as long as they stay dry. You can also leave them under a grow light as long as they don’t get too hot.

      They are going to be in these pots for 2-3 years so eventually they’ll fill up the whole thing with roots.
