    Hi Matt, it's Mel. What an informative vid! Great examples, and I've definitely been relying heavily on my memory these past several years as my detail vision started fading. Now that I'm in my 40s and have so many more things to memorise, my memory is starting to get less reliable; a rude awakening given how powerful it used to be! But, all things change and we can only adapt the best we can. Hope you have a great weekend!

      Hi Mel! Thank you for the nice words. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. It is unfortunate that you were in detail vision has declined in the last few years, but just like you said, we just adapt to our new reality and continue to MoveOn. It’s nice to hear that you rely on your memory just as much as I do. It is something that we need to do when we’re not able to use vision to help us identify clothing or other aspects in our lives. Thank you again for the comment it’s really nice to hear from you. Have a great weekend, talk to you again soon! Matt

    Hey Matt.
    What another great video that you made here buddy. I noticed that my color perception has gotten worse with my RP also. I find myself having to make my tablet or cell phone or computer have the black background with white lettering in order for me to be able to read or see what is on the screen. I also had cataract surgery years ago on both eyes. And when that was done oh, I found that my nearsightedness got worse and my first sightedness got better to an extent. So I wear reading glasses when I'm on the computer or cell phone or tablet. But my eyes have gotten worse to the point where even glasses are not really helping me either.
    Again, thanks for another wonderful video. And I will talk to you again soon

It’s unfortunate that even your glasses are not helping you much anymore. Although it is nice that you’re able to invert the colors with a black background and white text to help you read on the computer. Hi Matt and Cory, to me this is such a fascinating topic and one in which I have done a couple of videos on myself. I think Cory’s question about remembering what color something is after you get your vision restored is a great conceptual question not to be too technical but what we used to see, the foresight loss, is stored in the visual cortex of the brain. This allows us as blind people to continue to have visual concepts even though the physical side is missing. I think that once RP is treatable and vision is restored your color vision will return accurately just as it was prior. I think of it kind of like when you get a really really bad cold and you can’t smell or taste anything. When the cold goes away and your taste and smell return, chocolate tastes the same, bacon tastes the same, just as they did prior to the bad cold. Anyway I am fascinated by color even though I can’t see it anymore. I have a beautiful color palette that lives in my brain and it’s a beautiful place. Thanks for the great video once again Matt and Cory!

      Hi! Thank you so much for this comment. You make an excellent point, even though we can’t see colors now, we still have that information stored because we have experienced it previously in our lives. So when the day comes that we can see colors again, we will be able to recognize and appreciate those colors since they’ve already been a previous part of our lives. I really appreciate you explaining this in greater detail since that was so interesting to listen to. I’m glad you enjoyed the video, I will need to go over to your channel and check out the videos you’ve made. Thanks again for the comment and for watching this video, Matt

    Hi Matt,
    Found this really interesting and fascinating because how a person, who is losing their vision, can see things or colour is sometimes so different depending on the rate at which it is going and also depending on the type of eye condition they have. I know my own experience was that one of the first thing that went for me was my colour which meant I ended up seeing things in black and white or levels of grey scale and that made trying to tell the difference between things really difficult because everything would just merge in to each other. Part of my eye condition is the issue of having difficulty with seeing depth so when the colour went I found this becamse even worse because it was almost like, to some degree, my surroundings became 2D. I always say to people who ask me about losing my vision that it was at that stage that was the worst and scariest time. I would rather either have some useful vision or not have any at all.
    It was great to see your tricks and ways of managing your situation with light and colour and you definitely have a good memory LOL. I agree that having previously seen colour that it give us a level of appreciation and understanding of colour combinations that those people that have never seen colour wouldn't have and this can amke things easier when items such as clothing are described to us. You made me smile when you were talking about putting on a shirt which you thought was a certain colour and then it turning out not to be that colour, however it wasn't that bit that made me laugh it was when you said that you had been wearing it for quite a long time because the way you said it made it sound like you don't change your clothes very often, which I'm sure isn't the case, LOL.

    • @BlindtoBillionaire
      @BlindtoBillionaire  Před 5 lety

      Hey Martin! Thank you so much for the feedback. LOL, I do change my clothes every day. LOL, but now that you say it, I can see how it would sound that I don’t change my clothes or buy new clothes very often at all. LOL. I completely agree with you, it would be nice to have some type of useful vision or no vision at all. At least with no vision we would adapt more quickly and probably be more proficient with everything we do. Just like people who are cited, they are typically very proficient with everything that they do. I agree, it is interesting how I have lost my ability to see a color over time but yet I can still see shades as you mentioned. It’s very interesting to hear your perspective as you can relate in so many ways. Thanks again for reaching out to me, I’m glad I can make you laugh and smile a few times during this video. LOL. That would be quite the experience. As for your question about why the channel is name to blind to billionaire, for a couple reasons. The first reason being is because it is somewhat of a sub liminal message to other blind and visually impaired people to suggest that we are still rich with talent and opportunity even though we are suffering from this affliction. It is also I self obsession of mine that I would love to be a billionaire in my lifetime. Not only that, I really enjoy doing research on billionaires and learning their life stories and how they became as wealthy and successful as they have. I'm pretty much the same way when it comes to colors, I can't tell colors apart that are similar. Like with the shirts, I do the same things you do. I can tell shirts apart by the feel of the material, some of my shirts have different collars, a couple have a seam accent sewn across the chest so I can tell those apart and a certain brand have the tags at the bottom of the shirt on the left side so I just feel for the tag and know that I'm wearing that brand of shirt, then I can narrow down the color. One last way is when I actually put the shirt on I can tell most of the time what shirt it is by the way it fits, some of my shirts fit a little different. But honestly sometimes I'm not even sure what color the shirt is when I put it on, sometimes during the day in different light situations I can look and figure it out though. Good informative video, I sometimes struggle to explain what I can see when people ask.

      Hey! This is an awesome comment. It sounds like we are very similar in identifying our shirts. Just like you said and I said in the video we can tell by the texture of the fabric the feel of the embroidery, or the placement of tags. Or if we happen to put the shirt on, we can tell by the feel of the shirt how it fits. It’s so funny how we are basically the exact same when we identify her shirts these ways. Hi Matt. Have you ever tried a color identification app? They’re not 100% accurate, but they can give you the right color family. Like if you have a gray shirt and a pink shirt it might tell you your gray shirt is beige and it might tell you your pink shirt is peach. But you would get the general idea. I am completely blind, so I haven’t seen colors since the age of four. So sometimes I have a hard time knowing whether I actually remember the colors correctly or not. Also have you ever bought a shirt on a really good deal, and got two of the same shirt in different colors? And then what do you do to identify them. I’ve ended up sewing buttons in to the tags. But I definitely get what you’re saying about feeling different fabrics and the prints on the front, and being able to tell the shirts apart. I do that all the time.

    • @BlindtoBillionaire
      @BlindtoBillionaire  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi! Thank you for watching this video. That is very interesting, no, I have never tried a color identification app. Honestly, right now I can identify my shirts by feel so I wouldn’t need that quite yet. But, like you said, if I bought a bunch of shirts that are similar I could use an app like that to identify which ones they are and which colors they are. That is very interesting that you have some buttons into the tags to help you identify your clothes. That’s actually a great idea. It’s funny how cited people think we are geniuses for doing simple things like this, but yet, we’re just using our memory and adapting to our situation. I will probably make a video on it sometime soon, but it seems like sighted people think that we have superpowers or something. LOL. Thank you for the suggestions with the color identification app and possibly modifying my clothes in order to identify them like sewing buttons onto the tag or something similar like that. It has been really fun talking and getting to know more about you! I hope you’re having a great day, see you soon! Matt

    I feel you on the lighting situation. Lighting in my house has to be just perfect. That's why I bought smart bulbs so I can dim them and brighten them to whatever fits my needs.
    Even through my visual impairment I could still see colors. However, within the last couple months I've had a hard time seeing colors. My daughter will ask me to get her a popsicle she always wants a certain color. I cannot distinguish the colors anymore no matter what the lightning is. Sometimes I get it but most of the times I confuse certain colors. Like blue and green. They tend to look the same to me.
    Red has always been my favorite color and you would think it'd be easy to see. But I find myself going to the color blue for my toothbrush toothpaste and other things Etc. I tend to be able to see that easier it's weird as that may sound. But other colors like purple and brown I cannot tell the difference. I always have to ask someone in my house what color something is. This has been bothering me a lot.
    I do not tend to notice that my vision is getting worse but I do know my colors are getting worse so I know that my vision is getting worse in that aspect. I really love seeing the colors and things especially nature so to lose that it's not cool at all. But we adapt and we move on.

It sounds like they are very sensitive so I’m glad to hear that you are continuously protecting them in bright situations. It is interesting how you can and can’t see colors depending on the situation or color contrast. Thank you so much for sharing this, it is really nice to hear from you :-) Matt

      Hi, LOL, thank you. I like to make sure my short shirts are folded perfectly when I take them out of the dryer. As you know, if they are not folded perfectly they will wrinkle. This is very important to me. LOL and they must be folded when they are still warm, otherwise they wrinkle if they lay in the dryer too long and cool. LOL. Yes, I see colors in my dreams and I see very vivid pictures as well. It’s so interesting how well I can see in my dreams just like normal. Very interesting. Thanks for reaching out and for the comment excellent! Matt

    Hi Matt, WoW i am impressed knowing what is green en blue. So maybe you can tell me what red en pink because i am colordeaf🤣🤣🤣. No serieus. But i was wondering when your sight was relatively better if you really see colors? because a lot of people with rp are colorblind en see grey teints and need to remember wich Color belong to the lighter grey teint en the darker teint. Hey Sabrina, you are way too funny. LOL, thanks for another good laugh. I was able to see colors until I was around 30. I’m just guessing around that age. That is probably when colors became much more difficult for me to see. But thank you for asking I should have mentioned that in my video but I think I missed it. I always enjoy your funny comments, you should be a comedian. You would solve the whole place out every night. I’m sure of it! I also like the emoji’s that you write into the comments, they make me laugh so hard and so uncontrollably I can’t even control myself. Sometimes Corey needs to check on me to make sure that I’m not having a medical episode. After I read this comment, I was on the floor laughing for literally 8 to 10 minutes, I was laughing so hard my face and stomach hurt for hours. I read this comment a few hours ago but every time I went back to reply, I couldn’t control myself and just broke out laughing. I am not laughing at you, but rather living with you because you were so funny. Are you the only comedian that lives in the Netherlands? You could definitely turn this into a full-time career. You could even make a video recording’s of you being funny and sell them for big profits. Do you make hairy laugh as much as you make me laugh? OK, I think I have finally calm down enough to go to sleep now. Thank you again for the great comment, you are a truly talented comedian. Matt

      Hi Matt, you right i had write down my comment and then you mentioned you used to be seeing colors. What Made you in such a laugh? I am used that laugh about my humor. I dont have much positive to say about my parents but my humor ive got from my father. And it work a lot also to cope with my own issues. For example i always be bullied and people are very mean about my weight, i know i am not thin. But really have they always need to put it in my face. And 1 day my grandfather again attack me and really bad. So i was going do groceries with my homecare and said “so because i am already too fat thats why i decided to make a fun eve with Harry with a gourmet”. And my homecare laughed out loud in the grocery store. And thats how you light things up. Maybe it Will help lose weight 🤣🤣, and my psychological therapist who stopped in 2017 told me that humor was a good tool to deal with difficulties. Love sabrina

    Hi Matt another excellent video. I watched it with my wife and she was laughing at me because I kept guessing the colors wrong. I'm a little color blind and can't tell certain colors apart. How much do you sell the shirts for I would like one?

    • @BlindtoBillionaire
      @BlindtoBillionaire  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey Chad! Thank you so much for watching this video and enjoying it with your wife. Differentiating colors can be difficult. I never realized how difficult it was until just a couple years ago when I was trying to sort clothes and realized I couldn’t tell the difference between colors. Even now, sometimes I will stare at a couple shirts for a few minutes and still can’t figure out the colors. Even with the lighting, sometimes I’ll have a black and white shirt side-by-side and I can’t tell the difference. Lighting is so important. I’m not sure what I’m doing about the shirts yet, Corey and I still need to discuss it. We’ve had a lot of people reach out to us and say that they want the shirts, so we’re not sure what we’re going to do but we will announce it in a video sometime soon. I didn’t realize so many people would be interested in the shirts. It’s very exciting though! Thanks again for the comment and I’ll see you again soon! Matt PS say hi to Colby for us!

    I have a lot of weird crazy shirts. Eyewear the weirdest t-shirts ever. I always have to buy T-shirts and my wife hates it. Cuz I have so many but if it is weird I must have it. So yeah but definitely be interested in your shirt let me know.

I’m not sure how to approach this shirt thing since I’ve had so many people reach out to me suggesting that they want one. I’m not sure if I should just give them away to all the people that have requested, or what I should do. Corey and I will discuss it and announce it at some point. Thanks again Vincent, Matt

      @@BlindtoBillionaire well if you got had them made at a professional company. I know it cost you a penny or two if you had them silk screened. The company usually will charge you for the screen burning per color. Then charge you per shirt and ink.
      I used to print shirts for about $0.60 to a dollar $0.30 per shirt. But then you sell them 4 crazy money. Only problem is I had my own shop in my in-laws Barn. So it was more of a hobby not a business. Every time I tried to make a legit sale it was always someone I knew that wanted the hookup or not to pay at all. So I just got sick of it and sold everything.
      If I was in your shoes I would just save them and pick one random person at the end of a certain episode and mail it to him or her. You can always have them pay the shipping cost. Or you should learn how to sell shirts through Amazon. These are just my opinions though as a friend. I know you will do what's best.

      Hey Vincent, thank you for reaching out to me with this information. It is very interesting. May I ask, where would you buy your shirts? Corey and I were just at the store and we ran through the shirt I’ll just take it take a look. Shirts were anywhere between three and $8.03 being on the low cheap side for low-quality shirts and five and up being for a little better quality. In my opinion that seems a little bit expensive. But of course, we were looking at a retail store not wholesale. This is the printing would cost a very minimal since we do it ourselves and shipping would be whatever it is which is fine. I guess I’m just curious how I can find shirts that are nice quality for less than five or eight dollars apiece. I’m sure you have some good information about this if you feel like sharing, I would love to hear your insight and perspective. I am asking everyone who commented that they want to shirt which size they want, but you already told me you were taking Xcel. I will take note of that. I’m not sure what we’re going to do, but I’m asking everybody to get some ideas. We are still working through this and trying to find the best solution. I am just so happy and flattered that everybody wants a shirt. It is just so cool! You seem like the perfect perfect person to ask because you have experience with this so, if you don’t mind, I may continue to ask a bunch of questions regarding all of this since you have experience and know a lot more about this process than I do. Thanks again Vincent, I appreciate your expert advice and all of your insights. Talk to you soon, Matt

      Hi! That is interesting. Do you try strategies like I’ve used, putting two dark pieces side-by-side and being able to figure out which one is darker in which is lighter? That still doesn’t identify the actual color, but at least we have an idea of the general color. I also find that to dark color side-by-side can still be difficult to identify. You know there is one thing you and I can be grateful for though we have had pretty decent site at one time or another in our lives so when somebody tells us now what a color is we can at least picture it and know what they're talkin about versus a person who was born blind they would have no idea what you're talkin about if you tell them the sky is blue and the grass is green they're not able to picture these things because you can't feel color like they would know what a shape is because they're able to make those tactile so they can feel what a circle is our triangle or a square but you just can't feel color you and I can count ourselves fortunate enough to be able to understand when somebody is describing something to us and they're telling us the color and do you know something when I go to sleep at night and I dream although I'm totally blind in my left eye and partially in my right I actually have perfect vision in my dreams I can see if from both eyes so I'm still able to enjoy them I was told by a friend who has been blind from birth that he can smell things and feel things but he doesn't see anything not even in his dream it sucks that we are losing our site but on the other hand we can be grateful that we did have pretty decent site at one time and will have memories and dreams to look forward to in the way that I try to keep my clothes separated I can also tell the difference between most of the Fabrics of the shirts and pants that I want to wear but I do try to stick with a lot of jeans and solid colors but I have ventured outside my comfort zone especially when I have trustworthy people to ask what color is this item and what will it go with I hope what I said can give you another perspective on things and Happy Valentine's Day to you and your wife

      Hi Amanda! So nice to hear from you again. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too! I hope you’re having a great day. That is a great point, we are fortunate enough to to know what things look like and to know what colors look like to. For those who have been blind their whole lives they have nothing to reference which is sad. I agree, we are so fortunate to have the ability to see previously in our lives so now we know what everything looks like and we can still appreciate it as we can see it in our mind or visualize it. It’s nice that you were also able to identify your clothes by the fabric or the way that they feel or different characteristics about each piece. It’s nice that you’re also stepping outside of your comfort zone to try different clothing’s colors and patterns provided you have somebody that you can trust. That is really nice to hear. I really appreciate you sharing your ideas and perspectives with me, it is always nice to hear. Thank you so much for watching this video and leaving the nice comment, I always enjoy hearing from you! Talk to you again soon, Matt

      Hey Brittany! Honestly, I don’t know about this. A couple years ago as I was making the transition from better site to losing vision rapidly, I think I experienced this a few times. There were instances where I swore that I saw something, but actually there was nothing there. I would say these phenomenon and experiences no longer happen since my vision is probably beyond that point. But a very interesting concept now that you bring it up and now that I reflect on a few years ago. Hey Brittany! Honestly, I don’t know about this. A few months back I was upstairs and I knew my wife was downstairs. So I went down to see her and as I walked down the stairs I saw her in the laundry room walking holding a hamper towards the dryer. I said you're doing laundry? And she replied no I'm in the other room sewing. I looked as I got closer into the room and I saw her sitting at her sewing machine and when I looked in the laundry room it was empty. Charles Bonet syndrome at its best.
      Another time we were at the store and my wife son and daughter were together at the end of the aisle and I was feeling things on the shelves. I turned to walk but I always look at my feet first so I don't trip on anyting and there was a little blond-haired girl kneeling at my feet playing with a toy. I looked up and to the left and saw two ladies that were blond and I asked them is this your daughter? They just stared at me and said no and I look down again and thought to myself could it be my daughter. So I said my daughter's name and she looked up and said yes daddy! All the sudden she was not blond her hair was brown again. It was crazy freaked me out.

      Although, after having these things happen I have often wondered if people tend to think places are haunted when it is just vision and brain confusion. You would think if my vision by going a little off the fritz can cause apparitions you would think it could happen to people with perfect sight as well.
      They did a study on Charles Bonet and had people cover one eye for long periods of time and they all ended up seeing apparitions. However, they all had perfect vision. True story LOL thanks for the reply Matt.
