I really wish they woulda done the custom dice treatment on this game like they did with pioneer days
I tried this at GenCon. They had a special on it, and wanted to try before I purchased it. My impression was the game had a very strong "been there, done that" feeling. It felt like a hundred other games I already own and barely or never play. It was an easy pass for me.
Sam seems happier lately. This pleases me.

Yeah, we had a lot of fun with this game too. I really liked Pioneer Days a lot and was very excited to play this as a sound follow up.
TMG is just killing it lately.
Seems like a step down from Pioneer days. There weren't a ton of options in Pioneer days but the game felt fresh and not like many others. This just feels very similar to many tile laying games.
Compare the scoring to Between Two Cities - more or less complex?
Spent the whole game explanation waiting for the wobbling tower of tiles to fall over.

Whew....that sepia though. The look is pretty uninspiring to me to the point that it is something I have to overcome to want to play. Just not a fan of the main palette and art style.
Edit: to clarify, the character art is fine...the brown components and building tiles are really lackluster to me.
They didnt have anything bad to say but still, it feels like the game is just meh. Like everything is okay and good, but nothing is great maybe ? While being correct I feel like the theme and graphic design is too lackluster to make me want to buy the game

Is Tom more aware of saying game names correctly since he showed the Above Board "difficult to pronounce names" skit at the Dice Tower Live show at Gen Con? Based upon the " I think I am saying that correctly" comment.
