This is not a storm Brunswick nor hammer motiv ball review bowling ball video
Picks the 6-9 off a full rack and doesn’t acknowledge it… unfathomably colossal blunder my friend.
YO🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
Mind blown 🤯
I did that last year in a Swiss and got it on video 😂😂😂
@@BrandonJ300 with a candlepin ball?😂
@@Imaflippingegg nope! 😂 full size bowling ball hahahha
Nice. 😏
If you want to use the candlepin balls again, go all-out with the candlepin rules: give yourself three balls and leave the fallen pins where they are, haha. 😛
Awesome video. ~Greg G
I agree
Agree. Candle pin balls should be thrown super hard as well
"WOW"!
and de-grease the alley.
A video where you bowl your first shots with the candlepin bowling ball and then pick up the spares using a regular bowling ball could lead to some pretty interesting spares to pick up
Can't help but notice how much fun you seem to be having! Though I thought it was comical how when you went through the hole you said it was "annoying". Happens all the time in Candlepin! Thanks for bringing some exposure to our game!
Mini bowling is much of a challenge and lots of fun
Go bowl a tenpin PBA regional in New England and go actual candlepin bowling while you’re there. Make videos about both. Two epic videos, one epic trip!
He could do that and duckpin aswell
I wanna try both, but sadly there are none close to me. I live in TN so that would be a long drive just to candlepin/duckpin bowl.
@@crimsontide1980 yeah the closest duckpin to u is maryland and DC
@user-gl4wy1yf9c damn lol. Well it's on my bucket list. If I ever find myself in the NE I'll look into going for sure
The stratagy in candle pin is straight, hard, and accurate. If you ever come to Massachusetts or Connecticut, you should try both Candlepin and Duck Pin bowling.
I am an Alabamian who was in New England on a job and went to Holyoke, MA, to shoot candles for an hour, then came down to CT and found a duck house. I did that for an hour. Finally, about 5 or 10 miles later, I shot regular (tenpen) for an hour. I was out of shape, so it must have been the adrenalin that got me thru it. A day or 2 later it hit me and I was stiff for 2 weeks!
Duckpin bowler here.... nothing wrong with appropriately sized balls! lol You do need to generally throw straight though unless you are on wood lanes.
Also a duckpin bowler here (voice of duckpins4ever) I'd love to see if he can hit 100 with duckpin balls
I run a candlepin alley in MA called Riverwalk Lanes. Our game isnt about hook at all. Most all of us throw a faster ball straighter down the middle.
If you ever come to MA, you'd be welcome to come up and try this video the other way around!
Classic candlepins!
I remember guys like Tom Olszta and Gary Carrington, who'd get some real speed behind the ball and get a ton of pin action. Not sure how much pin action you'd get out of those heavier, lower center-of-gravity tenpins though.
Candlepins are so frustrating when you're a 200 average traditional bowler but have only topped 100 in the little ball sport very few times, but it's still fun. The wife and I look forward to our New Hampshire vacations and candlepins is one of the reasons why.
Crazy video here but fun to watch the ridiculous leaves!
One of the closest places I know has candlepin bowling that isn't in the Northeast is in Indianapolis but I think that is about as far west as Candlepin has made it in the United States.
There’s one in Ohio, Wyoming Civic Center. There is a video.
Your intros deserve an Academy award!🐐
I just wanted to say, your videos randomly pop up because I've been watching PBA, and I am absolutely stunned by the editing, memeing and effort you put in, that mailman clip in the beginning had me laughing so hard.
Thank you sir! Appreciate the comment, most people don’t realize the amount of work that actually goes into making CZcams videos 😂
@@220avg Dude it's HILARIOUS 😂 KEEP IT UP
I feel like softball players would be REALLY good at candlepin bowling bc of the underhand swing and relative lack of spin required
it’s very similar to softball/skeeball/cornhole etc.
I love it! This video is informational and hilarious all at once. I can’t wait to see what you got planned next.
6:53 - [raises arms] It's good!
I bowled candlepin before tenpin using my late grandfather's set of candlepin balls...still have em too! Its crazy, when I was only 6 years old my average in my candlepin league was 89 and my high game was 120. There's a reason why the highest candlepin game ever recorded was 245 haha
A wicked good average is 120+.
@@blg020 If you're averaging 120+ then you should be going pro.
@@Mitjitsu I know. That's why I said it was wicked good.
Come to New England and bowl candlepin! You will be humbled i promise you that!
Also the fart sound when u plunked out just the headpin had me dying! 🤣
Me too lappo 🤣🤣
I've worked in two bowling alleys, and never thought to try throwing a candlepin ball. One of the funnest things I did try after closing some nights was grabbing some pins from the back and using them to bowl with. A lot harder than it looks as they can move unpredictably. Getting a strike was quite a challenge but doable! And just like the candlepin balls shown here, they wouldn't always trigger the ball sensor to cycle the machine.
You are officially my favorite channel on CZcams. Makes my day better just watching your videos. Nice job. 😊
Just got shared on a Facebook feed but this embodies the candlepin frustrations nightly
With the bowling pins weighing a pound more than the ball, ball speed will be needed for pinfall, a slower ball will still deflect the same but there will be less pin movement.
3:04 I was watching a candlepin instructional video a few weeks ago. He said to keep the ball on your fingertips and not touching your palm for better control. I've never tried candlepin but I have bowled duckpin a few times in the past. I always tried to keep it in my palm. If I ever bowl duckpin again, or candlepin, I'm gonna try fingertips.
The guy that did that video just past. R.I.P. Dan Murphy!
@@erikthorstensen5185 Sad to hear that.
God I love these videos. The sound effects crack me up more than they should 😂
The mail truck bit was hilarious. And the fart noises get me every time
These vids are so entertaining. Please keep up the good work.
Next challenge: 20 lb candle pin ball
That would be a cannon ball at that point lol
LOL
Bowling candlepins with a shot put.
Hey great vid! An idea for a future video: playing a game , but each frame you increase the mass of the ball, starting at 6 for the first frame, then 7, 8, 9 and so on
Candlepin lanes are not oiled, and the ball will curve on those. Tenpin pins are heavier than the candlepin ball so it's deflecting instead of going through, that's why you're getting such odd combinations of pins after the first ball.
Oh, and you get three balls per box/frame in candlepin.
Candlepin lanes are/can be oiled but just a small amount to protect the lane and not in a "pattern" obviously. We oil 3 times a week from the foul line to just past the arrows at my place.
@@Candlepinmanthey aren't oiled like a modern-day bowling alley though. That's what the person is saying
Curving the ball is up to the bowlers preference. There are many different techniques. Some, like me, just grip it,and rip it. If its a pocket hit the pins fly. Some hook the ball.
Dude ... im so impressed by your creativity.. im a fan!
I’ve done both candle pin and duckpin. Kingpin is hard but a walk in the park compared candlepin and duckpin. Love your videos 220 average. I’m only at a 190 average but I love the game.
Looks more fun than regular bowling
it is because it requires actual skill
It’s a lot of fun! I own a candlepin alley in Maine, so much more challenging!
The 1-5-7-8-9-10 may be rare to you, but to us Candlepin folk it's not that uncommon. You see some crazy leaves in Candlepin
Bro whoever edits your videos needs a raise big time, this never fails to make me laugh on any given day
How do I give myself a raise
@@220avg raise your chair up?
I grew up bowling duckpins in Maryland. About the same size ball but smaller pins.
I was raised playing duckpin when I was a kid in Glen Burnie MD. They still have a bowling center dedicated to duckpin. N it’s the only one on the area.
What up bruhhhh…..long time no see…..still killing it I see brother…..keep up the good work my man……funny as hell bruh!!!!!!!
I’m also a mailman, and the sound of your scanner beeping was like an electric shock to the brain. Lol
I made a half scale lane and use candle pin balls for it. It's pretty fun
Fun fact, in Canada there are bowling alleys that do both regular 10 pin and Canadian 5 pin variant on the same lanes, not sure how the ball return system works switching from big balls to small balls but it seems to work out ok, nice video 🤘
In England area there are still some candlepin and duckpin lanes, too.
There's also a video out in the CZcams land. It titled something that could only happen in candlepin bowling. In a first ball thrown.,off target clipped the five pin, sent it off the right wall ,slapped the 10 away and stood in its spot, upside down. It happened so fast, the shows announcers didn't see it. And technically the pin that's now in the 10 pin spot,is down.
Fast and straight! Use the approach to accelerate. Slide stop and throw with power. Congratulations! You got the throw skill! Remember, with a Candlepin ball you have three chances to do a spare. Thanks for the video.
I was thinking 3 balls to get a 10 count. I was watching quite a bit of it a while back. Yes, I have no life. 🙂
Never thought I’d see the day the ball return have an average, let alone 220!
You should try bowling with one of those old bowling balls from the 30s that only have the middle finger and thumb drilled conventional.
That ball when it went through the pins. Looks like it did some voodoo magic
You deserve more subs man I love your vids
I’ve tried with a 5 pin/duckpin bowling ball and yeah worked best straight at it and fast
Met you at the Thursday night league love the vids keep it up hopefully get to play you soon
😂😂😂 I'm sitting here wondering if the ball return works as normal... Yup, looks like it's working just fine, haha
Mailman again😂, ghost mailman and UPS delivery were the most interesting
3:18- Fast and accurate in Candlepin is the key. You are not really going to get much hook with a candlepin ball, add to that the pin weight and size difference you need all the pin action you can get (IE speed). Not to mention in Candlepin, you get 3 balls per frame and not just 2. Yes it is possible to get a ten without having a strike/spare in candlepin.
Not entirely true. Due to multiple injuries, I can’t throw the candlepin ball down the alley at 40+ mph. My game was terrible returning after a 20 year hiatus. Last week I threw high 90’s with high strings of 112,115,123,126 and my ball has some curve/ spin action and an average speed of 22mph.
Pin mixing I believe is the term
@@markmilliken9711 nice, I will agree that high scoring can be done with lower throwing speeds, but the pin action can make it much easier if you can get the speed up.
I probably wouldn't be throwing mu faster at this point, but my accuracy would be horrendous if I tried for 40 or so.
@@chrish7336 that’s what I was running into. I could chuck the ball at about 33mph, but my accuracy was garbage. So I worked with the owner who made the WCVB show and he showed me a thing or two and I went from 75/85 to those numbers in just a week.
To get curve on candle pin , you have to lob it. Give it a toss with the spin a few extra feet out
Next challenge should be 10 pin bowling with a duckpin ball.
Never done candlepin bowling, but there's a duck pin alley near us. It's a blast!
Is it a full length alley. Or mini duckpin.
@@blg020 Mini, I guess. Definitely not quite as long as a normal alley. But they are actually getting new lanes and displays next month (current ones are 30+ years old) so maybe they will be a bit longer.
You might only be a 220 average bowler, but you average 300 as a content creator. Always love the vids homey!
Lmao! Thank you man appreciate the comment 🥹
You should just go 5 pin bowling. I haven't seen it here in the US but in Canada it is really fun. It looks to be the same size ball as the candlepin ones and the best way to throw it is slow and with a little hook.
I can confirm 5 pin is awesome! the balls are the same as duckpin bowling. which are slightly bigger than candle pin balls. diameters from 4.75 to 5.0 inches
I'm going 5 pin bowling today!
My absolute favorite intro I’ve seen.
candlepin lanes are maple all the way from approach, foul line and to the pins however the place i bowl at has to all synthetic lane and it changed the action for the worse.
Mail man part of the vids are always epic LOL
Always wanted to do this! too funny!
I wonder if you tried to do like a submarine style pitch with the ball you might get more speed and hook?
Too funny Mike! Will you try a regular bowling ball with Candle Pins in a future video next? That would be epic!!! Hope you make a shirt with your cat doing a hi-5 with his paw & head pic of him. And title it “Scratch Avrg” LoL 👍🏽
What type of mic do you use? I’m looking to start my own bowling channel lol
did 5 pin balls on a stringed 10 pin lane the other day,in 2 games managed 2 strikes and both games were around 80
Was this taped at Bellevue Bowl in Atwater?
Yes, de-grease the alley and buff it with bowling alley wax (if it's still made).
You should have another go at this however use the Candlepin bowling ball to try and strike and if not use a regular bowling ball to try and pick up those weird leaves.
Thanks for sharing. Very cool.
up here in canada we've got 5 pin bowling. our balls are slightly bigger than the candlepin balls and it's hella fun. wish it would catch on in other countries so the pros could actually make a living off it like they do in 10 pin PBA bowling.
How about a shot put next time? Smaller but has the same weight as a normal bowling ball (16lbs), so possibly less deflection
Just saw this video today . Looked like fun but I've seen the video where you made a 20lb bowling ball ... what if you made the candle pin ball heaver to potentially get more hook and carry/pin action. Just a thought ..
yo how did you get a usps delivery truck
Does duckpin bowling still exist anywhere?
We had that when I was a kid back in Massachusetts. The ball is a little bigger than the candlepin ball, and the pins are like tenpins, but shorter.
Actually the duck pin lanes in Billerica Massachusetts still exists. Duck pin is mainly a mid Atlantic game, like candlepin in more northeastern.
i'm a candlepin bowler and in my league i once brought a tenpin ball and stood on the approach ready to bowl and it caused quite a stir and laughter. i didn't do it but i'm sure i could have done some damage with pin fall and to the pinsetter machine.
You should try a shot put ball. It's the same size as a candlepin ball but 16lbs.
Amazing idea! lol
Let's gooooo
HOLY SHIT! 40K perfect games every year!!! There is something really wrong with bowling!
As a less-than-once-a-year bowler, here's what I don't understand. Anytime I see a good bowler, they bowl at least a 240. Anytime I have watched a PBA match on ESPN, one of them bowls at least a 260. If this is the case, why are the top PBA averages in the 220s? Why is the PBA record average only 228? I'm my albeit limited experience, I've never seen any of them bowl under 220. For the 2022 season, Jason Belmonte lead the PBA with a 225 average. Doesn't this all seem unrealistically low?
@michael the PBA tour uses more difficult oil patterns, that I personally average maybe only 190-200 on
While this is good, allowing the true best to rise to the top in those tournamwnts. It sucks because the average person doesn’t understand why the “pros” don’t bowl much better than the local guys
@@sundarpichai940 You're likely only seeing the top qualifiers in the PBA matches. The people who are shooting bad that week don't make TV. Also they often bowl under 220 in the final matches if you watch enough. One of the most memorable TV matches was Tom Daugherty's 100 vs Mika Koivuniemi's 299 in the semifinals around 10 years ago. Almost a 200 pin beatdown.
This is bullshit. "WHAT A SET! Congratulations to Tim Gruendler rolled games of 300, 279, 300 for an 879 series with the Phaze V." Bowling is a joke!!
The problem is. Ten pin bowling is easier than candlepin, or any other small ball versions of bowling.
I'd like to see how well a 220 average bowler throws a rubber ball. Just added a Manhatten Rubber ball to my arsenal to go alongside my Brunswick Automatic Scorer. The Ebonite Gyro from 1970 is also nice.
Hopefully you're cool with your mechanic, porter or whoever was getting your ball returns 🤣
Great Channel! Maybe try sanding the Candle Pin Ball and see if that might help it hook.
Candlepin bowling is very challenging. They just don't hand out strikes and spares like in 10 pin. Gotta fight, claw, and scratch for every pin, lol.
Should try the canadian 5 pin bowling balls.
That was a nice game
Good stuff keep going!! 😊
It’s a bit like watching a softball slugger trying to hit a fastball. Even the best miss marks more often than they make them.
The pro average has ranged from 117 to 123 in recent years, peaking at a summer 141.
They hit their object pins ~70% of the time with 3.1 spares and .9 strikes per game.
Pro speeds are often around 40 mph with the fastest balls clocked at 46 out of the hand using a Bushnell radar gun.
While the technical battle with oil patterns is NOT part of Candlepin, lane conditions, wall reactivity and speed differ from house to house, sometimes by the lane.
Playing well involves tremendous coordination of speed, spin and accuracy. Check out some of our past and present stars on CZcams, and plan a homage to one of our centers next time you are in northern New England or the Canadian Maritimes.
Duckpin is how I started and it is easier than you think to split the middle, take out the 1 & 5 only and hit the gap 2 more times getting 0 more pins.
1-8, 1-9, 1-8-9, or just the 2 or 3 are not uncommon candlepin leaves as well 😭
i know in candlepin its a spread eagle. 10 pin doesn't have to worry about that
I played that bowling before and what crazy u get 3 shots were in orguler bowling u get to bowl 2 times if u don't strike! when I was a kid I didn't even know that was actually a sport! kadle pin bowling! funtime usa had it in! brooklyn ny were am from! when I was a kid. and also had wwe wrestler that would come their that u can meet! but shut down!
Never even heard of candlepin bowling until now, good fun challenge, enjoyed it 🤣
There are some good vintage candlepin matches on CZcams. It's fun to watch how candlepins act.

You should try duckpin/ 5-pin bowling balls! They are slightly bigger and heavier!
Make a 20 or 23 pound resin reactive ball please
I like the song , I never heard before .
If memory serves, the one time I saw candlepin bowling on TV, they were all throwing back-up balls and kind of going Brooklyn, but in the right hand pocket. It was weird.
You are very brave leaving your camera unattended at Delta bowl.
