I reget buying an M1 with 8 Gigs. I tend to keep way too many tabs open in Chrome and that will kill it. You really have a great setup. I recommend the OWC Envoy Express Thunderbolt 3 enclosure tor the external drive as it's much faster then USB.

Thanks! I'll have a look at it. As far as Chrome goes, what you say is true, AND it also leaks memory. So every time you open it and then quit it, a little memory is lost, so rebooting once a week is a good idea. I have a Thunderbolt 3 external drive now, but I'll have a look at the Envoy Express.

Basically each chrome tab is like having a Chrome Window open running in it's own memory space (unlike other browsers) so if you are in the habit of keeping a lot os tabs open (50?), things can get slow after some days. Nowadays, if you hover over the tab you'll see the memory each one take up. Or look at Activity monitor memory allotment. The funny thin is , 4k video editing and scrubbing is no problem at all but shut down chrome often or use a session manager to remember the tabs if you must. @@hzalk4952

Funny - I was going to make the same comment. I love my Mini M1- it will scrub 4K video editing no prob, but Basically each chrome tab is like having a Chrome Window open running in it's own memory space (unlike other browsers) so if you are in the habit of keeping a lot os tabs open (50?), things can get slow after some days. Nowadays, if you hover over the tab you'll see the memory each one take up. Or look at Activity monitor memory allotment. Now I shut down chrome often or use a session manager (I use session buddy chrome extension) to remember the tabs if you must. Then you can shut down chrome while you edit audio or something, then reopen it when you're done. .. maybe after a re-boot. This has been a prob since Chrome launched and it's really not the M1's fault. IT's jsut that we have not had machines that can take any load so long that it's the Chrome tabs that eventually get us.
