This is a dubious plot to buff the usage of Unnerve Tyranitar in draft
Unnerve Ttar is p good, just wish it was faster
Leftovers also reveals what item you are holding to the opponent. Not knowing your item will affect the opponent’s decision making and could put you in better situations
For sure, a large part of draft is def the information war.
There's still cases where leftovers are surpreme but I agree with all your points, I think people bringing 3+ leftovers just for the sake of it aren't thinking hard enough about their matchups.
For sure, leftovers has niches in some situations (i.e wish tecters, sub users, mus where lefties consistently escapes specific 2hkos) its just very rare for it to be the best defensive item for a pokemon.
I'd argue that leftovers is a lot better in Nat Dex compared to paldea tbh. But your argument is very valid
Lefties is def better in nat dex, but I think boots and resist berries are still the better play there in most situations
Honestly. I barely run this anymore. Another lowkey fraud item is Life Orb
Life orb is def fraudulent, hard af to justify bringing outside extremely niche situations
Yeah unless can negate the damage with your ability its not worth bringing
Leftovers is nice on protect spammer sets or super bulky set sweeper sets, but outside of those situations, I would agree these are generally much better items to run. I usually default to boots if I don't really know what item I want to run on something.
yeah, the issue is the only tect spammer that really benefits from lefties over a defensive item atm is rachi, and that rarely is the wish tect set. But rachi can def benefit from it sometimes. (florges usually prefers resist berry with how common iron head/jab coverage is on fightings/dragons). for bulky set up sweepers, lefties can work (even tho I would argue kee/resist/booster is better for most of the relevant ones like lax, raging bolt and hattrene to give it an extra turn to set up or more immediate power/speed) but with how common encore is atm, that playstyle is very risky.
garganacl and ting-lu are the only good lefties users that I remember but other than that, also having difficulties finding use on mons that use it, unless you have more hazard removal options, which is the case in nat dex
@@xaropevic7918 Yeah, I’m typically more of a natdex draft player but in context of paldea dex specifically, I find that the meta there is very punishing towards lefties spam. That isn’t to say that using lefties in natdex is ideal, but it’s easier to get away with.
fucking. yes. absolutely.
Too many people run into the trap of lefties, hoping to spread awareness of its issues.
Nooooo i love fake out protect sub
That’s def some heat tech, lefties has a small niche for like wish passers that run tect but they would usually rather boots or resist berry.
Tbh I do think that the 4 turns argument for sitrus vs lefties is somewhat flawed because yeah not a lot of mons want to stay in 4 straight turns in a row but a defensive mon being in 4+ turns throughout the course of the game is still very common, especially when you consider doubling or just utilizing momentum in general
Like I still think sitrus is more situational and more hazards weak than lefties
Boots is the goat tho
This depends on the defensive mon. Like a primarina, iron treads, rotom, raging bolt would usually rather be sitrus than lefties, but a blissey, slowbro, alomola may not. But for those more defensive mons boots, helmet, resist berry, (av in alos case) tend to be the better option than lefties 9.9/10 times, which leaves leftovers in a very awkward position for competitive mons. Like it can be used in some situations like wish passers that arent weak to rocks like rachi and substitute users to garuntee a sub, but in most situations lefties shouldnt be used.
Agreed. Way too many people just use leftovers when they don't know what else to do, and they often get little to no value out of their item (which as you said can be pivotal). I can get not wanting to use a resist berry because there's a good chance that your item is useless, but slapping leftovers on a bulky pokemon is just as bad if not worse.
Yeah, resist berries are more a calculated play where you take draft mu into consideration and probable brings. Colbur tends to be the most consistent one since a decent amount of mons get knock. Boots sitrus eject and av tend to be the better items if the person isn’t willing to take the calculated risk of the resist berry.
Id argue that draft's lower
Average power with higher spikes make lefties a solid set up pokemon booster, as threats like suicune in last, snorlax in general, and many slow set up mons get crazy value while setting up CM ans bulk up sweeps.
Lefties can be valuable on bulk up/cm sweepers but honestly, most of them are pretty outdated due to the rise of encore and with how much more offensive the draft meta is compared to what it used to be. Even most curse users would rather be kee berry or a resist berry to get curse off v something it usually can’t. I don’t think I have seen a curse lax or a cm suicune used draft in while, lax tends to utilize it’s good coverage options paldeadex and it’s pursuit access nat dex, while suicune is rarely drafted due to how much counter play it has (haze, clear smog, encore, etc)
Lefties
Lefties indeed
