With technology the way it's coming along you can probably get a Emerson bot one day. I'm sorry you're out of luck as far as having the original he's probably off in some parallel universe making it with a new chick.
Man, I wish thee guys were still together, producing the music they did at the time this interview was recorded. The chemistry between these 3 phenomenal musicians simply cannot be matched.
And it was Keith who eventually took his own life at 71 years of age...R.I.P. Quote from Keith’s girlfriend after his suicide: "His right hand and arm had given him problems for years. He had an operation a few years ago to take out a bad muscle but the pain and nerve issues in his right hand were getting worse," she said. "He had concerts coming up in Japan and even though they hired a back-up keyboard player to support him, Keith was worried. He read all the criticism online and was a sensitive soul. Last year he played concerts and people posted mean comments such as, 'I wish he would stop playing.' He was tormented with worry that he wouldn't be good enough. He was planning to retire after Japan. He didn't want to let down his fans. He was a perfectionist and the thought he wouldn't play perfectly made him depressed, nervous and anxious." Keith’s arrangements and compositions will live on and be heard with enjoyment forever.
My first thought. But I get it. If music is the only thing that can satisfy you.... and if you're not able to do it, the choice has been made for you, or Keith, in this instance, although it could have been Greg had things not worked out after 1971.
It's hell. Basically, the only people who like cool bands are on the Internet. You're basically all alone and no one else gets your jokes, your love for the band, etc.
I know it's a 10 years' old comment. But the solution to this, is to actively look for prog mates in your area or even moving to a big city. I'm from Russia, I thought literally nobody listens to old British progressive music. But I started to actively look for people who might be into this. And finally, I found them and we even held a small prog fest in the city, it was like 50 people there but we all were hella hip. So don't complain, make your own club! =)
They were one of the coolest looking bands, another of the time was Free. Most bands back then had eccentric images, however ELP & Free never look dated when you look back at what they wore/ hairstyles etc and their music stands the test of time too. That may be the secret, sound good & look good, rather than look good and maaaaaaybee sound good ;)
It makes me cry listening to them especially Greg saying he wpuld commit suicide because these men were true professional musicians of mudic i happendcto like why i cry is because there is no more true musicians just pretty peopoe with no musical talent
@iamastormtrooper And is there something wrong with that??? Those 3 were/are cute as hell!!! So i wouldn't be so surprised!!! OK, that's a plus to the amazingly awesome outofthisworld wonderful musicians they are, if that makes you feel more comfortable... but we ladies have both ears... and eyes!!! *peace*
It's a shame it's so short... and that it barely leaves room for Keith finishing what he's saying in the end... Where did you found it, may i know? Pretty pleaaaaseeeee? Thanks for uploading it anyway!!! ♥♥♥
Atomic rooster we're just starting to come together when he left to join ELP. On the other hand the crazy world of Arthur Brown were already and established band who had the hit fire under their belt.
@racer500gp Don't feel sorry for them. It's up to the parents. I have daughters and they like crap like Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber but they love the music I listen to also because I expose them to it. My girls like ELP, Itzhak Pearlman, AC/DC, Heart, Russell Watson, Al Green....they're very diversified. ;D
@iamastormtrooper LOL! Then it's fine!!! XD I doubt any of these ladies will be so fond of these 3 guys at this very moment!!! hahahah... though i still have a heart for The Carl XD Well, i am bizarre in matters of taste in men... I also have a huge crush on Geddy Lee (Rush), so go figure out! XD Mozart you say? Hmmm, i think i'd go more for Beethoven, for what i could see of their portraits! *ROTFL*
@sigelflower Hahaha no Offence, i just think its REALLY funny. if you were over Mozart or Miles Davis i would think it was funny too, but nothing wrong about it.
@cocoabeanbrunetti You better stick to Greg, Carl is MINE!!! LOL! Nahhh, just kidding! But Oooppsss!!! Shuddup! I can sense Inquisition coming this way! Myyyy, like we just had to stick to music and blind our eyes cause it's too disturbing for certain guys to realize those they artistically admire have OTHER qualities to admire! We're bad ladies, wicked women! Rapists too!! Better burn our eyes not to incur in the terrible sin of fancying rock legends beyond what's 'intellectually allowed'!
Oh come on, a JOB????? A job to me is something you HAVE TO do to earn a living even if you don't like it... When I hear Greg Lake say he's "always working, no time for hobbies", well, I get nasty... Car Palmer at least was much more honest here... no time for WHAT??? For fuck's sake, you're 'working' ON A HOBBY!!! It's your PASSION, you'd do that 24/24!!! Think about miners... shipyard slaves... industry machines/not human... THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO TIME!!! You fuckin' have all the time in yer own fuckin' life!!! Listen, I'm an English teacher, and I LOVE IT. I'd really do that 24/24, and I'll NEVER go complaining I have no time for hobbies and I'm working all the time... simply because I CHOSE to follow my passions and now I 'work' THROUGH THEM. I feel much more sympathetic to those who unfortunately had to latch onto any kind of job they were offered, IF EVER, because here in Scotland people need to live on giros and they'll probably never know what enjoying some sort of a proper living might be, they'll have to let their own life pass by with no ups and downs, as dull as it is. And then you die, and that's it. Would mister Lake tell these guys to shut up because he's fuckin' workin' all the fuckin' time????????? As far as I know he's been enjoying his superstardom as much as he could, so HE'd better shut up. Or go back to native Dorset and start workin' on a fuckin' farm, for fuck's sake... I'm sorry for my f words and all, but things like these just piss me off to total madness, pardon me.
+Gianmaria Framarin That's where Labour really missed the target here in Britain: they never exposed people to the inhumanity of certain work conditions and they let these countryside middle class twats get away with some typical cultural attitudes that persist when you don't know what living in poor conditions in a decaying post-industrial city means. Maggie Thatcher incredibly convinced the rest of Britain that these awkward views of society were true, so that if you're unemployed 'you have no ambition', or even 'no bollocks'. These were the 80s. You'd hear working class lads repeat those disgusting mantras while they were about to sink down forever, and now look at what suburban Glasgow has become for instance... Labour did worse: they tried copying the Tories and forget about who they were meant to look after. Now they're bottom league and that's what you get when you turn your back to your own lot.
+Gianmaria Framarin Then how about just shutting the fuck up? THEY'RE BEING ASKED QUESTIONS, THAT THEY'RE COMPLAINING IS YOUR OWN DELUSIONAL IDEA. Don't go spitting bullshit like it's a fact
@Gianmaria Framarin, Please go back and watch this short clip again. I think you were a bit quick to jump to conclusions on what Greg Lake is actually saying here. Greg isn't complaining, and he isn't joking when he said he has no time for anything but music. I'm a music journalist, and I've interviewed countless musicians who-like Greg Lake-have been successful ones. I've also accompanied them on their tours and believe me THEY WORK HARD for every dime they earn. Many go months at a stretch without an actual day off. I'm not kidding when I tell you this. When you reach THIS level in the music business it is no longer a "hobby" as you assert. It's MORE than a passion, too. It is an all encompassing JOB that truly requires ALL your energy, passion, imagination and dedication. I listened to this interview repeatedly and I hear NO ONE complaining except yourself. I also at no time heard Lake tell anyone to "shut up because he's fuckin' workin' all the fuckin' time." The ONLY person I hear with a bitter attitude is YOURSELF, and yet you feel quite entitled to tell Greg Lake to shut the fuck up rather than answer the interviewer's question honestly. Before you accuse me of not having a fuckin' clue of how it feels to work a "real" job that is hard, let me inform you that I come from a family of nine generations of teachers. Before I became a journalist I worked in a fucking MENTAL HOSPITAL where I worked a six-day work-week. UNLIKE a teacher, I worked weekends and holidays. Before that, I worked in convalescent care homes where I also worked weekends and holidays. Like Greg Lake, I came from a dirt poor family and I struggled to put myself through school and make a successful life for myself. Believe me when I tell you that I applaud folks like Greg Lake who, despite all the odds against them, manage to reach superstardom because THEY BLOODY WELL EARNED IT. No one gave it to them.
Carl is just ADORABLE!
"I like.......Driving?" (big goofy smile)
I love them XD
Carl has an angel's voice❤...he's a dream
It's an English voice not 🇺🇸; which is seemingly why.
Keith did become a licensed pilot,Carl studied karate.Greg just fished & rode horses in his leisure time.So they did develop hobbies eventually.
Carl Palmer is just so cute!
Yeah! He's beautiful!❤
Wow you ladies are all over those guys
They were all fine as hell dude
yep!!
True
Could've been a boy band just as easily
With beautifully spoken English; as it should be.
No offence. 😉
Best wishes
🇬🇧 🤝 🇺🇸
i literally adore them all so much !! their chemistry and talent is simply unmatched
All three of them are so cute!
I am totally and completely infatuated with Greg Lake....but how cute is Carl Palmer in this clip?!
How are you kelly
I was a schoolboy before this. 😆
Can't really go back to being a schoolboy I guess 😂😂
Greg is one of the most brilliant musicians out there. I am crazy about his guitar playing, but when he sings, he turns my aural world upside down.
Yes, isn't Carl just adorable!
each day more in love with keith emerson
With technology the way it's coming along you can probably get a Emerson bot one day. I'm sorry you're out of luck as far as having the original he's probably off in some parallel universe making it with a new chick.
Man, I wish thee guys were still together, producing the music they did at the time this interview was recorded. The chemistry between these 3 phenomenal musicians simply cannot be matched.
Such cuties.
I love Carl Palmer!!! xD
Carl is so sweet and hot...and his voice is so calm and beautiful...I love this man❤...
They are so cute.
My favorite is Carl Palmer!

cocoa bean brunet to:Too late for that now.
Well you could still do it with Carl, but he’s pretty old now plus he’s married.
It's spooky how Greg mentioned suicide
i found that too, very eerie
And it was Keith who eventually took his own life at 71 years of age...R.I.P.

When I see Carl, I think: "Oh I'm in love❤..."
At least you pick the right one since the other two I don't think are available.
I'd still do all three of them!
annikee:School girl fantasies.
Same.
Phenomenal drummer
Great super band for all history of rock music !!!
Gorgeous Greg❤
It's hell. Basically, the only people who like cool bands are on the Internet. You're basically all alone and no one else gets your jokes, your love for the band, etc.
I understand😫...
Same here.
You just described my life with all the musicians I like :,)
eventually we, the ones with taste, may meet in time. but better with the use of inet than not! 🎀

R.ip Emerson and Greg Lake!
It makes me cry listening to them especially Greg saying he wpuld commit suicide because these men were true professional musicians of mudic i happendcto like why i cry is because there is no more true musicians just pretty peopoe with no musical talent
Robert Miller it’s eerie because Keith was the one who committed suicide and Greg died of cancer. May they never be forgotten.
Carl is STILL a babe.
Roxanne Becker:And great musicians.
helo you seem based wanna join the elp server?
based
I had a tremendois crush with him in his Asia days, hehe!!! But at this age, in ELP, he was an adorable cutie.
Carl is so ADORABLE

Me too! I feel sorry for the kids today.
@rollipolioli That's what I mean, I LOVE Greg!
And I LOVE Carl!
I wish people would upload more old interviews! 99% of libraries will digitize old reels/tapes for FREE!
It's a shame it's so short... and that it barely leaves room for Keith finishing what he's saying in the end... Where did you found it, may i know? Pretty pleaaaaseeeee?
Thanks for uploading it anyway!!! ♥♥♥
Palmer didn´t mention atomic rooster, only his gig with Arthur Brown. Why could that be?
Atomic rooster we're just starting to come together when he left to join ELP. On the other hand the crazy world of Arthur Brown were already and established band who had the hit fire under their belt.
You should hear the new Keith Emerson album with guitarist Marc Bonilla. You won't be dissapointed!
Ironic that Greg said commit suicide, when it was Keith who would ultimately do it.
@racer500gp Don't feel sorry for them. It's up to the parents. Carl: “I’d like to stay as a musician”
Keith: “I can’t imagine doing anything else”
Greg:
Me too and I am one.
@GuitarMasterizer Oh, if you could only see them now!
Beautifully spoken English; as it should be.
No offence. 😉
Best wishes

Boyfriend material
Not so funny anymore after Keith committed suicide.
I don't think he was trying to be funny here though.
He couldn't have known that was going to be Keith's ending any more than he knew pancreatic cancer would be his.

Right. This interview is 50 years old.
Do you think the singer Morrissey looks cute too???
