  • We are back in France and exploring some other areas that may be viable places to call our home away from home. We will be posting a video update of all that his been going on at some point during our travels and of course sharing as much of it with you as we can. We filmed about 4 or 5 videos while we were in Lyon and we have now moved on to Switzerland, which is breathtaking. We hope you enjoy this kick-off video to the series of vlogs we'll be sharing with you from France and Switzerland.

    Have you ever been to Lyon? What is your favorite part of Lyon?

    • @user-cs3vb6ks2v
      @user-cs3vb6ks2v Před 7 měsíci

      Yes, twice. Definitely eat at a bouchon like Chez Paul for the real Lyon experience. Visit the market and the Conflluence museum where they also have a nice restaurant!

      Well, I lived for some years in Annecy (also a small city to visit from Lyon), 1.5 h from Lyon and visited Lyon quite sometimes. You should visit the "Parc de la tête d'or", a magnificent public park and discover "Les Traboules", a maze of secret pathways through buildings, courts, etc. - just look it up on the Internet or ask the tourist office - I assume that also the concierge at your hotel can tell you about them.

      Yes, and my favorite things were the statue of Antoine de St Exupery and the Roman Amphitheatre. Of course, it's impossible to get a bad meal there, too!

    I am French living on both side of the Atlantic, France and the US. I have seen several videos you did already and I liked them very much. But I have to say this one have a “ je ne sais quoi” that warmed me up! The way you view France with your own lens is so special, and the way you express it through your videos is such a pleasure to watch them. Thank you KJ and Tony. :-)

    Since I last saw a vlog from you I unexpectedly became a widow. My husband of 31 years died from undiagnosed stomach cancer. Now I really am traveling through others’ vlogs. Always thought I would make it to Lyon. Sending you love from Boynton Beach and looking forward to seeing you all soon.

    Thank you for the lovely tour of Lyon! A very dear memory: slowly rolling into Lyon with my son along the Saône on our long bike ride from Paris to Rome. I was just shocked at what a beautiful city it was. It was a humbling experience, if I'm honest. How could I have not known about this amazing place? We spent a lot of time in Old Lyon (Vieux Lyon), atop the Fourvière hill, the Renaissance district, Gallo-Roman amphitheater, near the very beautiful basilica. I can't wait to go back one day. Enjoy!

    Lyon looks lovely. I was actually there on a honeymoon road trip throughout France with my ex-husband. I don't remember much about it. As I recall, we stopped there for lunch on the way to somewhere else. The hotel was a great find. I made a note in case Jeff and I decide to head there for a little getaway. Thank you! I think that Lyon has a very modern area also. The hotel looks conveniently located to restaurants and shops. And, of course, I hope that you get some rest. The hotel - when it says de, does that mean that we pronounce it in French as "duh"? The breakfast buffet was phenomenal, and of course it would include fromage in France! Delicious! I really appreciate your time spent videoing your locations. I remember flying out of Newark, and the pilot told us that he was going to fly over NYC to see the lights (it was after 10pm). Fantastic view! Have a safe trip and get some rest too. Thinking of you, Debby in Kansas

    I hope you enjoyed Lyon - it's one of my favorite cities. If it were on the coast, it would be perfect! I like the 2nd arrondissement around Cordeliers, particularly Rue de la Republique. I also like to cross the bridge on Cours Lafayette to Brotteaux and the Botanical Garden in the 6th. As a Le Cordon Bleu trained chef, it feels like coming home. If you visit again, fly direct to Paris and take the TGV train that puts you right at Part Dieu station in the city and then take a taxi to your hotel.

    I’ve been watching your videos. I enjoy them very much. I have a question.. when you filled out your visa application, did you already have a destination or accommodation booked in advance? My husband and I are planning ahead for 2025. If we start the application now, we don’t know yet where we will be renting long term. We have a trip planned for March 2025 and will explore several areas. Any information would be helpful.

    • @kjandtonylovefrance
      @kjandtonylovefrance  Před 29 dny +1

      Hi Jacqueline - Yes, we already had a destination. Something that is important to keep in mind is that you will need to register your Visa at the local prefecteur when you arrive. They will schedule an interview appt, which can take anywhere from 3-6 months. You'll have to plan around that and the ability to be at that appt.
