When they asked Jennifer why Maddie would want to run away and live in the woods and she said "oh I talked to her about Palestine".. while that might be true in some small capacity (at 13 I'd probably have said something similar) you can't tell me she wasn't sick of being at home around her mother and the creep. That was a excuse. Jen stated in a previous interview, she at times "laid out Madeline's clothes" which is a complete lie. My godchild was able to get dressed, by herself since the age of eight. It's the POS and Jen trying to paint a picture of Madeline being incompetent or unable to take care of herself, but Jen also stated Madeline would also take hour long showers. What's also disturbing ( after the files and pictures were discovered on his phone) he also took pictures of the female roommate upstairs, while she showered and was nude in the bathroom ( the roommate did not know he was secretly taking pictures of her) she lived there with her young son as well. So his depravity knows no boundaries.
Maddie didn't need help getting ready for bed either

There is no evidence that Chris and/or Debra _nurtured_ Stephen's laziness. Quite the contrary. There are hundreds of _millions_ of parents that give their kids money all the while lecturing them about it. It's what parents do. It certainly doesn't mean the parent is directly to blame for the child's (insert inadequacy/sin).

My opinion based on the evidence regarding what he did to Maddy is that I believe Maddy had said something concerning to Stephan and her mother that made them realize she was going to mention all of the abuse over the years. So Jen sided with Stephan and they both had decided to unalive poor Maddy. The mother is the furthest from innocent and it is so obvious looking at all the videos and interviews. Her body language says it all. She was only shaking/rocking back and forth during those interviews because she was worried about her own well being and nervous as hell about what she knew.
Totally agree with you. Sterns is a monster, obviously, but the mother is a special kind of calculating beast. She needs to be held accountable.

This latest info that's been released in which Jen reveals the actual make-up of all the residents of the home & she specifies that she & Maddy typically sleep in the bed 2gether each night & when Stephan stays over, all 3 sleep in the bed 2gether, except when she herself, the poor child's Mom & this creep's on & off girlfriend, sends her up until the day b4 or of her murder, 12 year old daughter upstair to the "guest" bedroom to sleep ALONE w/her boyfriend, a man who is NOT this child's father. So the fact that it was common-place for Madeline to sleep in bed w/her Mom & Stephan each night & his very own videos showed him having sexual contact w/her from the age of 8 until her death, nobody is going to tell me that at no point did this Mom know or suspect sumthn was going on. Even her behavior in all the police recordings does not show a Mom who was upset at any point. Being a woman who admittedly is on strong psychiatric medication & suffers from serious anxiety & God knows what else, the ONLY thing that was obvious was some form of anxiousness, but fear, worry & or being upset in general, just did not come across in any of those videos whatsoever. This Mom is not being totally forthcoming & her protection of him after she learned of the evil, filth he had done w/her daughter, speaks droves to me about her role in this ongoing abuse her baby sustained.
