- Answer these six questions to make decluttering less stressful while building a wardrobe that inspires you! Having decluttered over half of my wardrobe in the past 4 years, I've found a lot of value in asking myself honest questions so that I'm never keeping things that no longer have a place, or getting rid of things that I'll regret later on. I hope this helps you when you declutter too!

What has been your most difficult clothing item to declutter? 👗
Handbags….cause when I do I regret it then try to find it again in either in the same color or a more practical color.
"fantasy me" go out dresses and "glamor" handbags, while I feel myself most comfortable in a converses, skirt and a top 😄
I purchased a Lily Silk blouse red with small white polka dots but it was too boxy so I would never reach for it but finally I cut it down to a camisole and now I reach for it all the time❤
About 80% of my closet is clothes for when I lose my post-baby weight... I may store them away until I reach my goal weight because they are just looking at/silently mocking me, reminding me I'm not yet there lol.
That’s fair - I went through that recently too and it’s definitely a little different than generic weight loss! I did pack mine away just in a box on top of my closet and it was very exciting pulling them out when I was ready to try them back on for sizing! It’s like getting a brand new wardrobe again, excited for you to experience that in the near future 🤭
been there....
The hypothetical or whether it has not been worn in the last year does not always depend on whether the garment is worth keeping or not. In some of my clothes at least, (while they matched then with other clothes, which I don't have now, eg: because they have worn out) clothes with matching color now, can't be found to make combos, because fashion industry, releases shades that don't go with older clothes. So, I keep them in the closet, hoping that I find a new piece that I can match it and worn it again.
I've had a blue jean jacket for years that I have not decluttered but only wore a couple of times. I kept it because people say it is a staple and so many wear it but I always gravitate to something else more comfy so I think it's time I donated it.
Hi Sharon, I can relate to keeping things because of hearing that they're "staples". It's all a part of the process. Perhaps someone else will get more use out of it once you donate it!
Thanks Haley, this is one of the best videos I’ve seen on decluttering ‘maybe’ pieces! I’m currently working through the last pieces from my 20s that are both sentimental and feel like a unique expression of myself, but don’t fit the uniforms/proportions that bring me confidence in my work and social life in my 30s. Recognising that disconnect between aesthetic and function, and knowing I have picked up enough newer pieces that I already reach for more often, has made it easier to let the older ones go - hopefully to new homes where they’ll be appreciated again! ❤️
I feel like I really understand what you're experiencing, I'm going through something similar ever since giving birth last year. I always give the women/girls in my family a look at my giveaway pile and it brings me so much joy seeing them really love a piece that I previously wore and loved too 🥰
I really like how you break down your talks. It allows me to jump to where the talk will mean the most to me or get me homed into what I need to listen to or need clarification on.
a red lip? yes because I do not have red shoes. (grin)
Glad to hear it. Thanks for watching!
I hate having lots of clutter, it makes my brain so exhausted. But I am still not able to just declutter, no, it is SUCH a struggle. I tend to keep cool blouses I am never gonna wear because they have too much cleavage or something I really do not like. I also tend to keep cool jeans that no longer fit me since I got thyroid issues. I look at the size tag and realise that it IS a really small size for an adult woman without thyroid issues too. So even if I was totally healthy it would not be strange not being able to wear them. So I should just donate them, but why can't I? Stupid, so stupid! :D
Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't vibe with clutter either haha. I don't think this is stupid at all though! It sounds like you could have a deeper emotional attachment to some of the garments. Have you ever thought of putting these items in a box, further away from your wardrobe, to try detaching yourself from them a little? Over time you may find it easier to let go 🫶🏽
I think I can relate, having garments that we like but for any reason we don't. So now I think this: if I like it, I wear it for a day but if it doesn't feel right or I don't feel good and I'm continuously adjusting it, it goes into a declutter bag. I think of letting things go as "I'm just holding it with no use when I could give it away and someone could be using it, and I don't have to find the 'perfect' person that could use it". Honestly things I have decluttered I already forgot them. 😅 Hope you can declutter and take back your freedom and space! 💕💐
I like the way you think about letting things go! ☺️
you need to cover how not to go about just repurchasing as much as you gt rid of. how to keep the closet 'narrow'
Great idea for another video 😉
@@HaleyVillenaYes that would be a good one😊
Your wardrobe decluttering and organizing is so absolutely satisfying ❤
😊 thank you
I think decluterring jeans thinking I'm gonna fit back into them. Miss your styling videos
I find jeans to be difficult to get rid of too - they're not very forgiving when it comes to sizing! Thanks for letting me know - I may bring them back at some point. Is there a particular type of styling video you prefer? I might start up the "1 Item - 5 Ways" series again.
@HaleyVillena oops I meant fashion videos and just clothes in general, which all of them including this one! Enjoyed it so much because it's been a while!
I'm so glad to hear that! Thank you for your continued support on here, I see you! 🫶🏽
I love every single piece of clothing I have. My problem is most of them are one size smaller than me😢 just one, but in terms of me being able to losing "the volume" and weight to use those garments it is almost impossible (several times I have lost weight, but it seems it's never enough or never lasts as long as needed) Still hope dies last, so I can't get myself to get rid of them.
That's so amazing, I think that's how we should feel about what we wear! I encourage you to embrace the beautiful body you're in now, no one should have to lose weight in order to fit into clothes they have. You wear the clothes, not the other way around! 💞
@@HaleyVillena you are right. I guess I need to change my approach on that matter. Thanks for your kind words 💖
Very helpful; now I just need to do it! By the way, your graphics and fonts are really pretty.
Glad to hear it, thanks for your kind feedback 🥰
Would you buy this item again right now? Brilliant! Thank you!)
Hi❤Just started watching you not too long ago and LOVE your videos! I realized we both live in Canada. I don't think I'm too far from you❤. I have a lot of trouble decluttering anything that's been gifted or sentimental. Ex. shirts that dont suit my style now but were given to me by my aging parents. Recently I was gifted a few house items that have to be displayed that arent my taste and I don't have space for. This is a very sensitive relative who gets offended easily and who visits often. Any suggestions? 😅 Thanks 😊
Hi! Thanks so much, I appreciate your support 🥰 I'm nearby Vancouver, whereabouts are you from? I can see how the situation you're in is a bit of a dilemma! Maybe you keep just one or two of those gifted items from your parents and put them in a memory box in storage? Perhaps they could be passed on to someone in the future. As for the home items - who says they "have to be displayed"? It's your home, you should be able to do as you please! If the items truly are not your taste, maybe not having them on display when that family member visits could be a hint to them for future gifts. You could also let them know that you decided to keep your space "clutter-free" which is why it's not out on display. Hope my perspective helps a little bit 😅
@@HaleyVillena I'm in Burnaby! I will try your suggestions! As for the gifted home decor, I can't put them away because my relative visits daily! 😂 As for "decluttering" as an excuse, I've accumulated a lot of stuff! I was surprised she had even gotten me all these items when I live in a small space and she says I have too much stuff already! 😆 I'm overwhelmed because I love a lot of the items I have ( but it's gotten to the point I can't store anything). Leaving those gifted items out is driving me bananas! I'm going to watch your decluttering series next 😉 I'm going to have to stop going to homesense too 😂 God bless you!
Cool! We live so close 🤭 Okay daily visits, thats tough, but if she’s mentioned that you have a lot of stuff - I’m sure she’ll understand a little decluttering here and there 🤞🏽 Once I stopped going to HomeSense “for fun” my life changed 😂
