🇲🇾 Our FIRST RAMADHAN BAZAAR in Malaysia 2024! ☪️

  • Our first time experiencing a Ramadan Bazaar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
In this video we venture out to visit a market with a little bit of a twist. This market is instead called a Ramadhan Bazaar which is held during the month of Ramadhan in Malaysia. During this time, each day, tonnes of stalls are set up selling all kinds of treats, from Apam Balik to Ayam Goreng. The Bazaar is rammed full of stalls and gets busy quick so be sure to get there before sunset before they start running out!
It was such a great experience to join in on, and everyone was so lovely, warm and welcoming... We just wish we had been able to eat more as there was so much on offer!
A good reason for us to return however! Let us know in the comments which is your go to food for iftar and let us know if you'd like us to make another of these and finish off our list!
If you like us and our content, or if you're new here, we'd be so grateful if you were to subscribe. It means so much to us and we hope we can keep creating fun and engaging videos for you all!

One of the reasons Muslims fasting is to deepen and understand the feelings and conditions of poor people who live hungry or have no food. Therefore we will feel grateful to God and want to help the poor community. For example, we will understand how the people of Gaza/Palestine feel. So we feel sad and want to help them.

    Happy Holiday guys!

Next time you might want to try “Bubur Lambuk”. It is delicious rice porridge cooked with coconut milk. It usually given free at some mosque in the evening during Ramadhan.
Another thing some Malaysian like to do during Ramadhan is break their fasting at “Buka Puasa Buffet” at hotel’s restaurant. You might give it a try. There are lots promotions during this time. The price and dishes varies depending on venue.

    • @Yasin_Affandi
      @Yasin_Affandi Před 5 měsíci +2

@@DisappearforDays Most of the times, you will find some of the food during Ramadan bazaar, also available at some of the pasar malam around KL and Malaysia. I've not been to either the pasar malam or bazaar Ramadan for quite some time now. If I visit one, there are too much to choose, I probably get some of my favorites like satay, murtabak, ayam bakar or ayam percik, lots of kueh etc. I haven't tried the nasi mandi and lamb shank, last year I saw it in a video at TTDI, yesterday I saw it in a video in Shah Alam. The pasar malam in Bandar Baru Sentul where I used to live also has bazaar Ramadan, it's quite convenient to go there as you can take lrt to Sentul Station, or even go to the popular Ramadan baazar in Kampung Baru by taking the monorail to Chow Kit Station. As for the best food to try from those open markets, you have to tepuk dada tanya selera, literally means, ask your appetite. Nasi minyak and nasi tomato with the accompanying dishes could be good to try. Sometimes nasi ayam with ayam madu could be nice. Perhaps if you see nasi kerabu with daging salai or ayam percik could be tempting so as nasi dagang. I've seen lots of new food at open markets and also at the Ramadan baazar, but mostly from videos. Just enjoy your time and it'll help to go early around 3pm to avoid crowd. Enjoy your exploration. 😀

Nasi lemak that is packed with banana leaf always taste the best. The aroma produced by the warm nasi and the leaf is so nice. If it is yellow colour then probably using northen / nasi utara recipe which is slightly different then regular nasi lemak. It is more aromatic from extra spices then usual white nasi lemak. However it is rare to find in the central Malaysia and more commonly found in the northen area. If you can find it in KL, stick to it! 😁 Enjoy!

Kuih Keria is a sweet potato donut. (Sweet potato + flour). And the glaze is either white sugar or palm sugar (gula Melaka).
Kuih Paneram is shaped like a donut or giant button. The dough is made from all purpose flour & rice flour. The caramel sugar (white and palm sugar) is pour into the flour mix to form sticky dough.
      Both are nice.

love this episode, and i had tears running looking at how we muslim local always cheer eventho sometimes we had tough day ahead..
for onde-onde, dont worry about the middle part, it was The palm sugar or coconut palm sugar... or gula melaka, and not artificial one, used widely in asian food cooking, Gula Melaka from Malaysia is made primarily from the saps of coconut palms.
    fun fact -
Is Gula Melaka healthy? It is not an elixir for your body for sure, but a much better option than most of the sweeteners you will find. Gula Melaka has a naturally low glycemic index (GI). GI is a measure of how food impacts blood sugar. Gula Melaka has got GI35 compared to Agave GI42, Honey at GI55 and Sucrose at GI64. Besides that, you will find it is richer in micronutrients because it’s less processed than industrial sugars. Well, not only Gula Melaka is a healthier option for you, but it is also in use as a medicine. In Indian Ayurvedic medicine is used to treat throat and lung infections.

Ahh that makes sense, we've had onde onde before which is more smooth, but maybe as it's more processed and not home made! These onde onde were some of the best though so must have had some high quality gula melaka!
That's an interesting fact! You learn something new every day 🤓
