🇵🇭 MANILA'S BGC WAS NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED! 😲
Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Manila shocks us! Is it up to the HYPE?
Since being in Manila and staying in a more suburban area, we had been loving wandering around and spending time with the locals.
We'd been told that we needed to visiting BGC whilst in the Philippines however, so we made the 30 minute journey to see what all the hype was about!
Much love,
Jacob and Emma

It is definitely more fun in the Philippines when you meet this many welcoming, friendly locals! When visiting a new city, it can feel like the same old story - tall buildings full with offices and no life. Because of this, we try to travel as local as possible even when in cities. Staying in the suburbs, wandering from attractions by foot and interacting with people along the way. It helps us ...

but, london has few and shorter skyscrapers compared to Manila. Manila rank top 10 in the world for number of skyscrapers2024 while london only rank 100+ the gap is very huge.
Oh really! We had no idea, but it makes sense from what we saw at least! You learn something new every day 😊❤️🇵🇭
@@DisappearforDaysyeah his right anila has really dense skyscrapers and if im not mistaken it ranks 2nd in South East Asia in number of skyscrapers just behind KL of Malaysia. im from South Africa specifically Johannesburg but i really surprised how developed Manila really is and the building is just standing everywhere with alot of Constructions very booming Mega City.
❤❤❤
Thank you for watching! ❤️🇵🇭
u forgot mitsokushi mall and uptown area in BGC
Oh no! It was such a big place we didn't have enough time! We'll have to go back at some point to visit those places as well 😊❤️
.. gorgeous BGC .. 👍 14:58
It was really nice to visit! Definitely not what we were expecting! ❤️🇵🇭
🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for watching! Which was your favourite part of our video? 😊❤️🇵🇭
Beautiful BGC.
It was a really nice, clean city! Have you been to BGC before? 😊
@@DisappearforDays Wonderful. I've never been to the Philippines. Out of more than 10 countries in this region, I'm in Malaysia, been to Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia only. Worked and lived in Mumbai. Been to Spain. A brief stopover in Istanbul and Dubai. That's it, hehe. Been all over Malaysia but not in Borneo. Been all over India but not the east side. But one of my best trip ever was my 9 days, 7 nights in Spain, been to Madrid, Seville, Jerez, Torremolinos, Malaga, Granada, Sierra Nevada, Cadiz and few other towns. At that time in 1996, my trip only cost a little bit over RM1K, all expenses included, return air fare, fast train ride from Madrid to Seville, luxury coach bus from Seville stopping at Torremolinos and Granada, back to Madrid, all entrance fees to some UNESCO world heritage sites, part meal and a bonus trip to Sierra Nevada. At the same time, I was contemplating for a 5 days 4 nights stay in London, about the same price but only includes return air fare, that's it. That was one of the few chances I had to visit London, UK. 😀

its funny how the weather changes so quickly because im watching you guys in that hot temperature but it's now very cold and storming 😅
also, that Chinatown is the oldest chinatown in the world, also a famous tourist spot, worth a visit
Hello Emma also try to go to Makati..
Hi 👋😊 unfortunately we've already left Manila, but we will have to go there when we next come back! ❤️
Thanks for watching! This was a world away from our last couple of videos! Which side of Manila do you prefer? Share it with someone you need to take to BGC! ❤🇵🇭
Yeah I will ..do watching as long as my connection was good at the moment ..ahhm you know its about the weather right was slightly a little bit rainy... keep safe guys ..enjoy as long as you want❤❤❤❤
Does a halo appear if you eat halo halo 🤔😂😂😂
For the content jolllbees better than KFC..
We agree! 💯
the national hero was a very intelligent Filipino, he is a linguist n speaks about half a dozen foriegn language...he is also a medical doctor , an amateur engineer, an author of some books n a prolific writer, aside from a pacifist, nationalist executed by the Spanish autorities for inciting rebellion against Spain in his popular books of Noli me Tangere n El Filibusterismo depicting the cruelty of the Spanish friars against the Filipinos
We didn’t realise 😅 thanks for the additional information! It sounds like he was a very intelligent, interesting man and quite rightfully recognised as a national hero for your country 💚
Halo halo is a mixture of different ingredients like banana, coconut strips , sweet beans, nata de coco or gulaman , a strip of jackfruit n top with ice cream , leche flan n ube on crushed ice....
It’s such an interesting combination of textures and flavours. What’s your favourite part? 👍🏻
you might also want to visit the Mall of Asia area in Pasay city n the nearby Aseana city
Thanks for the recommendation 😀
the Manila have 2 sides ....the Old Manila n the new , modern n almost Westernized side of BGC n Makati city
We did actually visit BGC which you will see in a video that comes out tonight! Which side of Manila do you prefer? 😃
the Philippines is a country of smiling , warm, welcoming friendly city to foreigners n vloggers
It certainly is 😃 If you watch our video from our first day, you will see how welcomed we were 💚
Stay pretty, miss new york
Aww what a nice comment ☺️ thank you for watching! We hope you enjoy the rest of our content 💚
Chowking - chao fan soimai is the shit
It really was! Pretty simple dish, but tasted great! 🤤
@@DisappearforDays i know right
Yes that’s how u eat halo halo have to mix it so ul taste the mix of every taste all together ❤😊
We’re so glad we did it correctly 😅 we’ve learnt from our mistakes in the past! Thank you for watching 💚
Such a beautiful place. The cow reminded me of an incident with a cow in a field when we were younger.
😂😂 I was literally telling Jacob about that holiday the other day.
This place looks amazing! Emma, you sounded just like your niece when she found her 'iggs' when you said - "Can I get in it?" I found it so funny that Jacob started making his way down the death slide and then you both realised that he wouldn't be able to get out the other end. 😆
We literally quote that all the time and usually alongside ‘can I get in it?’ from our Christmas video 😂 I know, I don’t know why we didn’t think of it sooner 😅
Bonding With The Locals
It's our favourite thing to do ❤️☺️🇵🇭
I Enjoy Watching Guys Welcome To the Philippines Disappear For Days❤❤❤
Such a nice comment! Thank you so much ☺️ we've loved spending time in the Philippines! ❤️
Mushrooms are great!
Which kind? 👀😂
Street Halo Halo isnt as good anymore the ones with P35 price The premium street halo halo.with priced P90 up is good and sweet
Oh really! We thought the street versions could be good ones, but a couple of people have said that now. I'm glad we managed to get a good one ☺️😋
Go to BGC Bonifacio global city so nice thre
Keep your eyes peeled!! 👀👀
Chowking beef noodles, and chili sauce are my fave. Must try 🤗 My own way of eating halohalo is to eat first the half of icecream, and leche flan/baked pudding, then mix after. 😊😊
Oh that does sound good! I want to go back now 😂 That's a very specific way to eat Halo Halo 😂 why do you eat it that way? ☺️❤️
@@DisappearforDaysbecause we wanna taste all the flavors,as much as possible, crumbles all at once on our mouth.😊
for halo halo you can ask for aditional milk
Oh nice, we did realise! Is it regular milk? 😋
you can ask them for chopsticks nextime
Oh right, we did think it was odd eating noodles without chopsticks, but noticed a fair few places in the Philippines didn't provide chop sticks! Thanks for the heads up ☺️❤️
It is ok now a days 😂.its rainy season here in Manila.Thats the reason we say skip Manila bec.We are experiencing El niño it's so hot. Lots of beautiful cold places here 😂. Don't forget to bring thick jacket if you go to Baguio.
Ahh, it was so hot when we were there! We didn't realise there could be cold areas in the Philippines though! We might not have packed for winter weather though 😂😂
I ❤ Manila
We do too! ☺️❤️🇵🇭
Tapsilog (with Beef Tapa) is the original Silog meal and for me, the best, along with Tosilog (with Tocino which is sweetened cured pork.) You must try these two. I'm sure you'll love them. :)
Ooo thank you for the heads up! Adobo silog was good, but we can imagine them being even better! We'll have to try it next time 😁❤️🇵🇭
@@DisappearforDays You're welcome :) Jollibee actually has a breakfast menu (served only in the mornings before 10am) and they do have Tapsilog. But I don't recommend it becoz their Tapa is too sweet and saucy. Tapa isn't supposed to be sweet and it should also be a bit dry because it's fried marinated beef. :)
Btw, Chowking (also owned by Jollibee) has Tapsilog too in their breakfast menu but I find it a bit too sweet also.
CHILI SAUCE? DUDE PLEASE! do not mistaken our food for Thai....there are condiments on the table if you want or you can ask for chili from the counter. Why is it always when in the Philippines these tourist think they know Filipino cuisine and how they lack in something?
Lol, that's a slight overreaction 😂 I never claimed to know Filipino cuisine, I just like my spicy food and thought some chilli would go well with it. I wasn't claiming to reinvent the dish 😂 thanks for watching though!
@@DisappearforDays have to. Already seen a lot of misguided and smirky side comments from vloggers about anything Philippines. From prices to food tastes. A lot of you guys are a bunch of misguided "ignorants" hiding from the excursions they got from other asian countries before diving in on Filipino culture and always arrive in their comments so bias. Im not saying you are!? But just the comment on "spicy-ness" from of all things adobo? Adobo wasn't created spicy in the first place. There are now spicy ones created out from adobo and this small comments from "influencers" like you tend to create confusion for fellow travellers and foreigners like you who are curious of what Philippines can offer, but started from a wrong foot by watching a short vid from a traveller like you that may discourage them and might have created already a bias of their own. So...just an advice, as any other creators on youtube. If you haven't anything good to say, just skip.
@DisappearforDays Filipino cuisines, more if it's a restaurant thing, options to spice up your dish are yours, especially on chillis. There are condiments you could ask, unless the food is spicy dishes like Bicol Express or Laing(veggies from Yam leaves). You know, there are some Filipinos who don't like hot foods, that is why only some of our foods are hot and spicy. Americans have this Tobasco hot sauce as condiments, for optional reasons to spice up things you eat, that is as well as Filipinos
Lol you don't put chili sauce in adobo😂😂😂 if you want it to be hot then you can put chili💁 it is a vinegar soy sauce based dish.
Oh really, we had no idea how it worked, but personally I do think a little chilli would've gone a long way! 😋
@@DisappearforDays well it does if you love hot food of which I do. So when I cook I separate a small quantity and put the chili. The dish only have black pepper for its spice and bay leaf for aromatics. But you can add potatoes and a boiled eggs for additional quantity. It's a very simple dish with very few ingredients.
@@lhonskyrider_921 I love hot food, Emma not so much! 😂That sounds great though, it seems quote simple, but it tasted great ☺ ☺
That's the right way to eat halo halo
I'm glad we got it right! It tasted heavenly! 😋
Hi ..my kabayan will support you..new follower here.
Thank you for following! We hope you enjoy our other videos ☺️🙏
You have been to the University Belt... the oldest University is located there... UNIVERSITY OF STO TOMAS.... good to go there on a weekdays or on schooldays... Lots of Streetfoods and Carinderias or eateries.Cheap food and it is the real and authentic Manila.
We had no clue, it was a pure coincidence, but a really nice place to stay! We saw lots of good looking street food. But we didn't quite go into Sto Tomas unfortunately!
Yummy
It was yummy indeed! 😋❤️
Adobo is always be the favorite dish because adobo is not easy to tolerate.
It was definitely a flavour we've never had before, but it was great 😄
When are you going to travel to the island beaches? There is nothing to see in the city except traffic and congestion but the kids are real. They don't have much but are happy and kind.
We have a couple more videos out on our time in Manila, but will have beaches and other videos coming out very soon after so keep your eyes peeled! We loved Manila, the people really made Manila for us! Everyone was so kind ❤️🇵🇭
Hope you enjoy the philippines guys. ❤
Thank you! We've absolutely loved our time in the Philippines, we can wait for you all to see our upcoming videos ❤️☺️
Halo halo the purple ice cream is called Ube. Different from taro.
We had to Google it to see what the difference was! 😂
I prefer the Jolly Hotdog over their burgers. 🌭😋
Oh really! 😮 We didn't try the hotdog at all, but maybe were missing out!
Yeah absolutely overall was nice .. adventure..keep on walk ..we love you guys ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! That's such a nice comment ❤️☺️
Halo halo is literally mix mix... it evens out the flavor and the ice and condensed milk adds the refreshing feeling that makes your stomach full. Its a dessert/snack in one
Thank god you actually mixed the halohalo 🙌
We saw other people mixing theirs so took the hint and did the same! I'm glad it was the right call 🙌
you just visited the most dangerous city in the world as rank in the forbes most dangerous city for tourist 2024?? if manila city is that dangerous to locals and outsiders what more if you go to the safetest parts of the phils?
We didn't know it was the most dangerous city, because we honestly felt so safe much more often than not! The local barangays we visited we all so welcoming and happy. They were advising us to keep safe also (which we always are) but we had no problems. Forbes may need updating! 😂❤️🇵🇭
Can't wait til you hit our beaches. Enjoy our country, enjoy our food, but most of all, enjoy our people!
Thank you so much! Our videos outside of Manila will be out soon, but we've absolutely loved the Philippines! The people are out of this world kind ❤️🇵🇭
you might bump into drew, who knows? sometimes he stays here.
Maybe one day! That'd be so cool if we did 😁
Drew binski in kito 😂
