  • Showing most important steps in servicing of CD player Loader and Laser Mechanism Assembly, using Philips CDM-1 Mk2 from Marantz CD-80.
No re-capping has been done, since all electrolytic capacitors on the laser control board were Nichicon brand and tests proved that they were well within the specifications.
    The steps are:
    1. Limit switches cleaning
    2. Removing of old grease and applying new one
    3. Belt replacement; both CD tray driving and loader driving
    4. Laser lens cleaning to be done last before re-assembly, so that the newly cleaned lens does not get dirty during other operations.

I serviced my beloved Marantz SA-15S1 very recently. I purchased it brand new 2007 built like a absolute tank and equally weighs like a tank!!.. Which I absolutely adore Marantz for that well it is a Reference Player after all. Anyway I gave it a full service my self as I'm a hobbyist aka electronics enthusiasts and very happy audiophile. Replaced a tired but still fully functioning laser pickup which cost me £20 kept the old one as a spare .. Also I used Silicon Greece as its absolutely perfectly safe to use on all electrical products as its non- conductive and should not dry out any time soon. I used plenty throughout the transport so the tray draw is definitely noticeably quieter. I also fully lubricated all the cogs and pulleys ext so that in it self should stop any form of micro/hairline cracks from forming and getting worse over Time and drying out obviously in it self not only does this alone completely protect all those parts from ever completely cracking and breaking off teeth the silicon greese also help to dampen noise and further unwanted Vibrations. The next part for me was to use Servisol IPA 170 contact cleaner and give the entire PSU area a clean out all connectors and molex connectors. I also then cleaned up all 6X Internal fuses and sockets. As this player has 6 power regulators. Then once its all cleaned up I then treated the entire PSU area and all 6x internal fuses with very famous CAIG Deoxit D5 lubricant solution. It took me an entire afternoon but the way I see it the more you put in the more you get out I respect all my equipment. CAIG Deoxit D5 is certainly not cheap but it's works on soooo many levals and you can clearly here the sonic improvements!!!... That's how I service my units. The tray door rubber belt is still in perfect working or. Did not need replacing so instead I used a tiny amount of fairly washing up liquid and obviously "cold" Warter and cleaned off any dirt and grime and it's nice and dry very clean went back in and works perfectly fine the end result was quite remarkable between replacing the laser pickup and using CAIG Deoxit D5 throughout made a huge difference and the player sounds like it's brand new once more 😊. Love the channel BTW fantastic 👌👍😎
