This whole refresh has been interesting to me. Lots of people share your opinion, Joey, but I had a very different experience. I told my co workers that it was the best subway sandwich I've had in a long time and the colleagues that tried it after that said the same thing.
I worked at Togo's in high school in 94' and they would whip us good and shame us like idiots if a shopper wrote that we asked them what ingredients they wanted on a signature Togo's sandwich. Asking the customer for example if they want mayo on a pastrami was grounds for packing your bags.
Give them another chance! I had the Cali Fresh Turkey sandwich on artisan multigrain bread, I asked for fresh mozzarella cheese, avocado, and I had them put lettuce, onions, and tomatoes on it along with mayonnaise and mustard, I had it toasted-and I thought it was delicious! I know you would enjoy it if it was properly made. Find a Subway restaurant that isn’t obviously a front company for manufacturing crystal meth and you’ll be set!

I don't know how but almost every time I've gone to a subway it's oddly perfectly constructed. Except when I've asked for extra sweet onion sauce on an online order and they literally saturated the bread but I still ate it with a spoon lol.
I work at Subway in Hennepin County Minnesota. I always try to encourage my customers to step outside of their comfort zones and try new things. I really don't think there should be a basic formula for anything, just a sandwich personality type and a crap-ton of quality ingredients. But maybe I'm wavering in-between sandwich artist, and sandwich curator with fighting words like that.
